I'll second that Devil. I said it was Von Erich. It could pass for him, Steamboat was never a blonde for one and second he never used the Claw as best as I can tell for a finish.

Only reason I knew Steamboat was because I had him when I was younger.
I still am racking my brain to picture Cowboy Bob Orton with a mullet...and when these were popular, without his trademark "cast."
Cool thing is, this led me to probably watching at least an hour of old mid-1980's WWF matches on youtube earlier today. Some good stuff. Lots of Roddy Piper...

I said Von Erich too. Didn't Kerry used to use a claw hold? I know he did that discus spin punch but I thought he used the claw. Maybe that was in old World Class Championship Wrestling with Percy Pringle, the Freebirds, etc.? Ahhh...good times !

WCCW was classic to watch on ESPN in it's infancy. Very cool to see at the time) how some of the WWF and NWA's bigger stars got their start...The "Dingo" (Ultimate) Warrior, King Kong Bundy (with hair), One Man Gang, etc. Little Beerdowner always liked the Great Kabuki, when he'd spray the mist in people's faces, rendering them blind. Then there was the whole Bruiser Vrody, Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, David Von Erich, etc death chaos. WCCW was a pioneer in wrestling deaths. Grated, being promoted by the Von Erich's and their family death rate added to the cause, but good God...
Kabuki vs. One Man Gang
Von Erich Tribute
Billy (Jack) Haynes vs. some guy named Shawn "Mickels"...

How about Bruiser Brody getting stabbed to death by his tag team partner/ promoter in Puerto Rico? There have been a lot of interesting "characters" in the world of wrestling.

Bruiser Brody was a great heel/face in his time...and perhaps one of the first "good guy/bad guy" angle that was ever played. I thought it was a crazed fan that stabbed him in PR? Been awhile, I'm sure you're right.
Man that was when wrestling was GOOD. I started watching wrestling during the old World Championship Wrestling days with Gordon Solie (when channel 61 was still around in Cleveland). Saw the Road Warriors first match.
Then I started getting into World Class and WWF. Then WCW and WWE were having their feuds and ECW was an up & comer. I haven't had an interest in, consistently, watching wrestling since ECW died and WCW was bought up by McMahon. I think that killed wrestling. Paul Heyman had a great & innovative product with ECW and those Monday Night Raw/ WCW "wars" were awesome for awhile and then it all just went away....
Quote: When you wrestled, were you more of the ECW style...bad tradeword but, "hardcore" vs. the industry standard?
Heyman is a great mind...I just don't think anyone can work with him.
I agree with you, I haven't been watching as much as I used to, the past 3-4 years. It's cyclical, and I'm hoping for another boost, soon.
The feds that I wrestled for had a lot of hardcore style guys in them. I refused to cut myself. Not to sound like I'm "better" than the other workers but I saw some of these guys, what they hung around, the drugs they were doing, etc and I said there's no way in hell I'm going to swap blood and get HIV or Hep from one of these guys. I put the kibosh on the hardcore stuff when I was working a tag team match in Columbus and one of the other guys wrapped me up in barbwire (impromptu) and threw thumbtacks in my face. I wasn't down with that.
I'm more "old school" and prefer the more "technical" aspects and "psychology" of the business. Don't get me wrong, at 315 lbs I did moonsaults from 10-15 feet up but I NEVER cut myself with a razor blade.
On a side note, craziest thing that ever happened on a show? We were working in this small VFW hall off of Harvard. We had a guy from the Plain Dealer there to review the show and had a battle royale at the end. To get "favorable" reviews, the promoter wanted me & the guy from the PD to be the last ones in the ring and they wanted me to job out to him (they let him wrestle). During the match, we decided to do a 20 man "Stone Cold Stunner" where everyone hit it at the same time. We did it and the ring collapsed on one side and was very hard to work with. Eventually I took a swing at the guy, flipped myself over the top rope and let the reporter get over. That ring collapsing got an unbelievable pop from the crowd.
