So my buddy and I go to our local bar last night. As we sit down, I noticed a guy next to me had on a Roethlisberger jersey, and the guy next to him (his friend) had on a Bruschi jersey. I sat down, and didn't plan on saying anything to either of them. Then, ESPN ran the tidbit on how the Browns acquired Williams DT from the Packers. The Steelers fan put his head down, and said "I don't know about next year" I couldn't stop myself, so I blurted it out "Next year, yeah, it will be like old times around here, you Pittsburgh fans hiding as the Browns stomp you guys" He replied "Old times? I don't remember that" I replied " You don't remember that huh? I then asked him how many Pro Championships the Browns have won. He replied " Zero?" I said back to him " No bro, you see, the Browns have 4 NFL championships and 4 AAFC Championships for a total of eight. I then asked him "How many championships do your Steelers have? He replied "4 in the 1970's and 1 a couple years ago" Dude, I swear the greatest thing then happened, his Patriots buddy then stepped in and said " Well, the Steelers might have won 4 Superbowls in the 1970's, but they didn't win in '05, actually, they were gifted that Superbowl. Everybody in the bar agreed and the Steelers fan slammed his fist on the bar, and walked towards the bathroom in disgust. I think he went in there and started crying. Then, you won't believe this, the Pats fan says to me "You may have shut the Steelers fan up, but, do want to try and compare your Browns to my Pats" I said back, are you joking? He thought I submitted, I then said " Bro, my Browns know how to close out an undefeated season." He said "There is no way the Browns ever went undefeated. I said back "Go check the records bro, in 1948, the Browns went undefeated and won the Championship." Then, I kept verbally slamming him like I did the Steelers fan, I asked the Pats fan " How many championships have you won? He said "3" I replied "no, no, bro, you just admitted that the Steelers Championship in 2005 wasn't legit, so, again I ask you, how many legitimate championships have the Patriots won? He looked at me, then looked down, paid his tab and his little Steeler friends tab, got up, found his little Steeler buddy, and left. Several people bought my friend and I drinks, and they all thanked me for shutting those idiots from Boston and Pittsburgh up. It was a good night.

Nice job my friend. Nothing like leaving a couple of opposing fans stumbling for words.

Awesome story man. But could you next time stay away from the Brick of words? It's really hard to read.

Sad fact is, at least 60% of Steeler fans are idiots or close to it.

I had a similar encounter like that today at the grocery store...

I was wearing my Browns shirt today to celebrate the newly acquired players. Some guy sees my shirt and he said "Hey! Browns!" and points at my shirt. I reply with a laugh, and a nice greeting. The guy said "I like the Browns!" I say "oh yeah? that's nice" but the guy interrupts me and says "I like the Browns because I am a Pittsburgh fan", I was at a loss of words, but I couldn't help laugh to myself.

That's his inferiority complex coming through. He is one of the people that is aware that the Browns are a much more successful, storied franchise, and rather than just shut up about it, he acts out in jealousy. He is the same kind of guy that I shut up at my local bar, the only difference is, he did it in a grocery store where he can run away from you after you begin schooling him.

The funny thing is, the Browns, in their current state, are an expansion franchise, and already we are better than every other team in our division. This offseason has been a thing of beauty for the Browns. We have built upon an already strong foundation, while every other team in our division has gotten worse. How good are the Browns? We won ten games last season with one of the worst defenses in the league. -To touch on that, we were a missed field goal against Oakland, a questionable non-TD call against Arizona, and bogus officiating against Pittsburgh from winning 13 games last year -with one of the worst defenses in the league!
Now, take a look at this offseason, we have shored up our defensive line, we have added a playmaking WR, we have re-signed our stud RB, and other teams in the division have gotten worse.- Pittsburgh lost Faneca, and Cincy lost Justin Smith. Pretty soon, the entire NFL, and media alike will talking about how it seems like old times with the Browns ruling the division, and the conference. I love it!

Not positive on this, but were TV's and "media" really that big of a factor back a half century ago when the Browns won all their championships?

Also, I don't think you can call us the better team in the division until next season, because as of now, we're still 2nd. Paper doesn't mean squat...take last year for an example. We weren't predicted to win 6 games but came out and won 10. Every year, despite supposed 'paper improvements', something happens. And all this 'shoulda coulda woulda' stuff doesn't really fly with me either. By that logic, we could have also lost some close games against the Bengals, Seahwaks, and Ravens, making us 7-9.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as big a fan as the next guy, but bragging rights aren't earned by 'paper' improvements and undefeated seasons that occurred a 50 years ago with 16 teams in the league, or whatever that number is...

Dude,..I have NEVER met a stooler fan that knows anything about the steelers OR any NFL team before the 70's. I really think they believe that's when the NFL started. Like another poster stated steeler fans are way to easy,...patriot fans are even easier.

I have to disagree. While I smack steeler fans around every chance I get, I have many friends who are Steeler fans, and many of them are just like us Browns fans, except that they root for a different team.

Just for fun,....test their knowledge of the steelers prior to the 70's,...be prepared for some blank stares.Hell,..most of them don't even remember the 80's either.

NONE of my friends do.

Personally I tend to think that Bengals fans are easier to slam than Steelers fans. There are completely clueless. A Bengals fan I know was talking about Odell Thurman then he mentions that he didn't know there was another rookie linebacker on the Bengals. I ask him if he means David Pollack. He says he doesn't know his name, but that his dad told him about him.

And he is one of the more knowledgable Bengal fans I know.

Forgot to mention that all of the Bengals fans at school (and some of the Browns) after the draft said that left tackle isn't an important position. Now they say that Joe Thomas sucks and is overrated and that the Browns got lucky with our wins. Oh yeah Winslow sucks, DA sucks, Lewis sucks, Braylon sucks, (few of them have even heard of many of these guys) and everyone else on the team sucks.

And everyone on the Bengals is good and better than the Browns' guy.

See what I have to deal with at school. I'm just venting here.

Sorry to say that's not a good argument.....there are many on this very board that have no Browns knowledge of anything before the team's return in 1999....

Actually The Browns did something rather amazing...they did not lose a single game within 28 games. There were 2 ties within that span. From October 19, 1947 to October 9, 1949. The Browns did not lose a single game. This inclusdes a win streak of 17 games.

That by itself is rather impressive....But Starting from October 10, 1946 and proceeding to September 9th 1950. the Browns lost a TOTAL of 2 games. A time period spanning 48 games for a record of 43-2-3. I will take that up against anybody....

I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

Now the hard part for the hat trick woill be convincing some of the "fans" on this board we are legit. We could run across Lake Erie to the stadium and various naysayers would critique it. Too slow, shuffles feet, too small, whatever. You play 'em out. Glad you bagged two. Your werk here is not yet finished.
