We got about 2 inches in the last few hours. Greene County is horrible about cleaning off the roads. I, for one, never have problems driving in the snow... my car is really good in it... it's the other bozos that make me insane. If you're going to drive 20 in a 55, move over and let the 4x4s (and me) get by you!

I love driving in the snow. Cuz you can be as drunk as you want to be and b/c the roads are snow-covered, there aren't any lines to stay in between, and if you happen to slide into the median---its because the roads are slick--not because you are in a stupor. In other words, a blizzard is a great time to get hammered.
But it is a double-edged sword, b/c if you slide into a ditch you can't get out of, or into another vehicle---then your goose is cooked.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

If you want to get ahead of me, leave earlier. I won't be in the ditch and will get there safely.
As for the storm, the agency I work for has closed for the day, so I'm staying in. I stopped to pick up some bananas today at the store and it was crazy with all the people buying stuff for this storm. I'm looking forward to it, actually. There aren't very many better excuses to spend a Saturday in sweats watching cheesy movies.

Actually, they are pretty good about it usually. Right now they are concentrating on main roads and I can't say I blame them.

4x4's have way too much confidence on slick roads. And, if you are trying to drive 55 in a 55 on a day like today, I'll wave when I drive by as you are stuck in a ditch.
There are accidents EVERYWHERE right now. Everyone be safe AND SMART out there.

Maybe it's just Fairborn... idk.
I'm not saying I want to go 55, but I think 20 is a little too slow, I'm sorry. There is "safe" and there is "ridiculous"

Ah, that's true...Fairborn could be different...I can't hear them on the scanners. I agree that sometimes people over react to driving in snow, but you made it sound like you wanted to drive like a bat out of hell going 90mph down the road.

LOL, sorry. If it's just snowing, I don't care. I'll take it easy if there is ice though. I haven't gone 90 mph for a long time.... anytime of the year!

I like paying only 40 dollars a month in insurance.. I'm not driving till the roads are cleared up

I have to get mine back on the air. I have had it on most of the morning and there are a bunch of MVA's and cars off the roads. And this is just the beginning
I had spine blocks today so I have no work and no motivation to go out. We picked up a few movies on our way home from the hospital, order me some pizza,,I'm all good!

There is about 3 inches of this damned white s*^%$^* *ahem* stuff already sitting on my driveway ....... with freezing rain, and another 3-5 expected tonight ..... then maybe another 6 -8 inches tomorrow.

I'm just driving through it. If I get stuck, I'll just stay home.
My back is still out from the last damn pile of this crap that fell on us.

That can be bad b/c then your tire tracks become compacted tracks of ice you have to chisel out,,it's a lose lose situation. I must say though I wish I had a driveway. When I do though it's snowblower all the way! When I got home our parking lot here was a solid parking lot of ice from the last storm. It started to melt and then froze over and now is covered again.

Personally, I don't think it's as bad as people are saying, and I just drove 25 miles home in it. You can still see tire tracks. When you can't tell the road from the sides of the road, it's bad, but we aren't there yet.
I fully intend on making it to happy hour...and subsequently home.

Yeah we have about 2 inches now and the weather alert just went off saying Shelby County was to expect as much as 18 inches off snow and 40 mph winds.

The roads are fairly slick out there. I had to go out and get replace my spare tire today. My right rear tire blew out (I didn't hit anything, it literally just popped as I was driving down the highway, with Anna in the backc. We were almost home (less than 10 minutes from home) and I heard a ton of air leaking, so I slowed down and pulled off the highway. My tire was almost completely off the rim. Anyway, I had to replace that blown tire today. In the 35 minutes that I was in Goodyear (not my choice of tire...Bleck!) I just kept watching the snow come down. And I watched several cars slip and slide around in parking lots/streets. I popped my Jeep into 4WD and took it slowly. Put it this way, my doors lock automatically once I reach 15MPH...My doors didn't lock. It is beautiful to look at, but I won't be driving in it anytime soon. Lucikly, I don't have to. Maternity Leave is good for that! No leaving the house for pesky work stuff. And the hubby gets to shovel, I'm not allowed to lift anything heavier than Anna until I see my OB in 2 weeks. (Bummer! LOL)

I just went out and shovelled a path to the garage and there is about 5 or 6 inches of snow. I heard on the radio that there are around 20 accidents on i-680 and South Avenue in Youngstown. The roads look like they haven't been touched yet. Yeah ... gotta love snow.

What I hate about this weather is that it is always the 'top story' on every single news channel... And they talk about it the entire hour!!! Srly... we can look out the window for that breaking news... tell me something I don't know. I live in Dayton, I know for a FACT that at least 10 people got robbed and or shot. It sounds morbid, but I'd rather hear about that as opposed to rehashing 'wintery mixes' and 'hazardous conditions'.

Anna is doing GREAT! She was an ANGEL during the whole tire situation yesterday. Barely even stirred. And she's what kept me calm while I tried to pull off the road. If it had been just me, I probably would have panicked and hit the guard rail. But I stayed calm knowing that if I messed up, I'd have hurt her. And luckily, the tow truck driver got there quickly so were didn't have to wait too long. They initially told me it'd be 45 minutes to an hour. I just kept saying that was unacceptable as I had a newborn that needed to be fed (and it was time to feed her, they didn't need to know that I had a bottle in the car with me! ). Tow truck showed up in under 10 minutes and had the tire changed for me in about 5 minutes. And yes, I could have done it myself, I've done it before. But, I was not leaving Anna in the car by herself while I worked on the side of a busy highway, in the mud. Besides, it's a company car and we have company paid-for road side assistance! Hell yeah I was taking advantage of that! Anyway, Anna's been very good for me. She's staying awake more and more, which I LOVE. Being a Mommy is fun, even if it's not always easy. Luckily, John's a good Daddy and Anna's a good little girl.

Thankfully my son rode home from school with my wife. His bus got stuck on the way home when it couldn't navigate a corner. They already cancelled the regional high school basketball finals (Poland is playing, they're 24-0) in Canton tomorrow.

j/c Not sure how the weathermen did with all of you, but yesterday we had a winter storm watch in effect for today and saturday - they were making a huge deal about it. Today? Winter storm watch cancelled. I'd love to be getting snow - 18", 12", heck even 6". Nothing as of now, and it's not looking like we'll get anything.

That's what the hubby and I said the other day when we couldn't find sidewalk salt anywhere in town. Manager at Lowe's said they only order so much per year and once they're out, they're out until next winter. No more orders until about October.
The problem with that is that we're in NEOhio where we can get snowstorms into April. Morons!

normally I would agree with you, but if the winds pick up tonight this will only be the 2nd blizzard to hit central Ohio since 1996. (NE Ohio had one last year valentines day)
Despite my love for the snow, I think the new today was a nice change of pace.

Yah, I understand that. But anytime we get more than an inch, it's a huge deal for some reason. I just never understood why they can't find anything else to talk about. It's not like we're in San Diego where snow is unheard of.
A few years back when we had... idk... 10 inches I think... They litterally broadcasted the news ALL DAY! 16-18 hours, every channel. I thought it was a little extreme. There's only so much you can say.

I guess there's enough of a pause in the snow right now. My Mom has been trying to get home from Bentonville, AR (home of Wal-Mart). She made it to Memphis before her flight to Cleveland was cancelled because of snow. Somehow, they managed to get her to Detroit to either rent a car or wait it out. She landed in Detroit and had to OJ Simpson (think Hertz commercial, not white Broncos chase) through the airport (Gate A4 to A71). As they, she's flying with another lady, entered the boarding area, they announced final boarding call for the flight to Cleveland. She called me to let me know she was on her way home and said that they were shutting the doors to the plane. So yay! Mom's coming home. Good because she's getting home safely and on the same day that she was supposed to. Also good because she babysits my nephew on the Saturdays that my sister works (her hubby works Saturdays too, besides, he's in Poland right now anyway). My sister is working tomorrow and we were desparately trying to figure out a way for me to not have my nephew all day tomorrow, while I have my baby and my hubby's at work. Normally, it wouldn't be an issue at all, but my nephew is very high maintanence, and demands ALOT of attention. While Anna isn't high maintanence, when she needs/wants attention, she needs it right away. Would have driven me crazy to try to do that by myself tomorrow. But, Mom will pick up my nephew in the morning... Glad there's a lull in the snow right now.
