According to some it's because you suck at Madden.

I use Jamal lewis and for me he doesn't fumble a TON but he has his share. For me he gets hurt like every game. luckily though he is back in after a quarter but I have had him go down like 3x a game before.

I just wish the draft was a little better. I love franchise modes and want a game that you can get in real detail with the franchise. Madden attempts this but it's very lame at best. I still play Madden the most though out of all my games and think it's a pretty good game. I do see a lot of unrealistic plays out there though, like some subhuman plays on INT's and catches hehe.

I really liked the 2k games a lot and started playing madden again recently. With the capabilities of these new systems I just want a super realistic game vs more of an arcade type it is.

I'm starting to think that maybe I'm spared from alot of the problems as I play on PC rather than ps3 or xbox...

The INTs seem a common problem but that was remedied for me at least with the sliders. (I still throw too many but I force it a bit much).

The fumbles have never been a huge issue for me. Jamal maybe fumbled once in the last season I had before he got injured in week 9 for the year.

Uh... it sounds like a lot of you guys are just terrible... sorry.

Of course that's coming from someone still rocking the PS2 version.

I for one like that they stopped automatically having the receivers go get it. Having to control the receivers after the pass anad before the catch adds a dimension to the game. It makes some passes less automatic, but lets you take more chances if you've got the right guy (like Edwards, Jurevicious, or Winslow ).

Oh, you'll be spared problems allright, Canada. You'll be spared having to waste your money.

Madden '09 isn't going to be released on the PC.

The game hasn't been good for years. I stopped playing around '04. With no competition, it's just gone downhill.

And yet, it sells 6 million copies every year

***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy.

I heard that there will be no PC madden for 09. I'm disappointed...but not crushed.

The online community for madden is ridiculous. Alot of people have come up with editors that allow customization of rosters and creation of new draft classes. Even new pictures of players.

Right now I'm in a franchise where I just finished the 2009 draft and Chris Johnson from South Carolina has taken the reins as the Browns #1 running back.

Hopefully, EA will take a year and retool properly for PC.

I wouldn't bet the farm on EA "hopefully" doing anything. It's been empty promise after empty promise from EA for years. Wait until they have some competition and they lose the exclusive license.

Well, #1 I hope they have the Browns uniforms right.

Nothing ticked me off quite like having Brown Pants.

I'm not buying it ever again until I hear the reviews. I want a little polished presentation, ESPN halftime, Madden as the announcer for once, and a whole crap load of other things!

LESS FUMBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, LESS INTERCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The defensive backs are freaking jumping all over the place and making all kinds of unrealistic body moves.

No Madden until I hear that they fixed it.

Yeah dude, I drew the line with the brown pants. I felt like I was playing Madden 95 or Front Page Sports football for crying out loud. No excuse to screw up something that freaking simple. I will NOT buy another Madden or any EA sports title until it's been out at least a month so I can read some "real" reviews... not just some BS write-up from IGN or XBOX.com

Your right Toad, the last year I really enjoyed Madden was when Mike Vick was on the cover. Those were to glory days of madden when they had to compete with Espn 2K and every year you could see progress. Now its simply a 4 out of 10 game that is Football game in genre, but no longer a Football sim.

The reason Madden sells 6 million a year is loyal fans who keep hoping that one of these years EA will make a quality product, unfortunatley I don't see it happening. They can still sell 4+ Million copies to people that know little to nothing about football who will love it.

I think this is why monopolies aren't good, but I could be wrong

My only wishes for 09

On All Madden have less INT's. In 08 I'd throw to a wide open receiver going across the middle or running a slant and as soon as the ball was in the air the d.b. would have a speed burst and pick it off while the receiver didn't even make a move for the ball.

Make Josh Cribbs FASTER!

Oh and of course it's only reasonable that the Browns be the first team to ever have a ranking of 100!

Yeah, some of the ratings were a lot better but they're still lacking in realism. In the past year or so I remember Cribbs had a speed rating of like 88, but they moved it up to about 94 if I recall.

The gameplay still sucks on the next gen versions, until then I stick with the ps2 game even though I have a ps3.

I heard (don't know if it is really true) but the 20th anniversary edition will cost $80 or $90 but comes with NFL Head Coach '09 and that is the only way that Head Coach will be available (it won't be sold individually).

Wow, if it costs that much then you can count me out. I'm not buying another Madden until I hear that it's amazing or unbelievabe. I've had too many dissapointments with that franchise than I can remember.

Wasn't it great when everything from Madden 2005 and before was outstanding?

I gotta agree.

The Madden franchises when I first got my PS2 and on were great. Which would have been '02-'04, then I was fixated on playing SOCOM. When I tried to play Madden '06, I enjoyed it, but not as much. I skipped '07, then bought '08 and just didn't have any fun at all playing it. It is getting to the point that they add so much crap into the gameplay, you spend more time learning then just having fun and playing.

At my point in my life, I don't want that. I want to pick up the controller and just have some fun. I may not have as much time as I used to, and with having a kid who sometimes is very difficult to ever get to eat, a lot of energy goes into that, which is a distraction as well. Just make a Madden game like it was- fun. So I can just go downstairs, pick up the controller and enjoy myself.

Yes I understand we're you're coming from because that's was game are supposed to be: fun.

It was pretty stupid how they switched the controls too, that was really hard to learn those and that's why I went back to the ps2 version. The first time I played in the recent years I remembered pressing the X button expecting sprint and got stiff arm, that was almost enough for me.

I don't uderstand, why change it if it wasn't fixed in the first place.

BTW, do you have the show 08? Is it a huge jump from 07 because I'm holding off money to buy GTA4 or MGS4.

I have The Show '08. It's better than '07, but nothing huge. Kind of like Madden each year. They add something here and there, except the game improves with The Show.

There's some crowd interaction, you can import music into the game's playlist, which is my favortie feature, the stadiums look a little nicer. The gameplay is pretty much the same. Just a slight change in the pitching, where it doesn't show you the exact location when you guess right, just the right area. I really enjoy it, but I gotta play it out this week, because I'll be buying GTA next week.

I didn't reserve it, hopefully I'll walk into Wal-Mart like I usually do and pick it up.

There is part of the problem. To have success throwing the ball in Madden two things you have to be able to do these consistently:

1. Fistly, learn to take control of the receiver after the ball is in the air, that way, you can make a move for the ball. You can't just rely on the computer to play the game for you.

2. Learn how to use the passing cone to look off LB's, CB's, and S's.

Without doing these you are going to have trouble staying competitive on the field.

To clear things up as I think there was a little confusion, The 20th anniversary edition will cost like $80 and will include NFL Head Coach 09 (the only way to get it is by buying the 20th anniversary edition of madden) but there will still be a normal edition of Madden that will cost $60.

Head Coach will not be sold individually, only packaged with the 20th anniversary edition of Madden.

Same here I never reserve GTA, the one time I did it UPS delivered the darn thing 3 days late.

Usually I am able to go into the store and buy it that day or several days afterward. But right now I have all these other payments I have to make so I may not be able to get it right away. But when I do I'll let you now, wow online multiplayer will truly be unbeleivable.

Well this is not what I wanted to see from EA, attention to things that dont really matter.

Madden NFL 09 Tidbit: Improved Weather Graphics

04.22.08

See the vast visual improvements to the graphics of Madden NFL 09 in a new weather comparison screenshot. In Madden NFL 09 you'll see deeper snow on the fields, with dramatic accumulation and realistic wear from play. Player's footsteps will leave imprints, snow will be piled on the sidelines and the yardage lines will be shoveled, just like in a real game.

Well, Madden has traditionaly been the best near the end of the consoles life cycle. It takes EA 3-4 years to refine the game to play its best. They NEVER get it right the first two times for sure. So, that would make this the 3rd Madden on the 360 and PS3. Expect to see a very good version (well, still buggy as hell).

I suppose it makes sense that it takes time to rebuild a refined PS2/Xbox Madden on the two next-gen concoles. I guess EA could be doing it on purpose too.

And the Browns will actually be good on this years game. That's something that hasn't happened in a loooooooong time.

This blog is in response to EA's "asking the fans what they want"...mostly pure BS, doesn't tell us what features will be included, just says it will be a good game. Of course EA says this every year "its gonna be a big year" and it turns out to be a badly produced, glitchy, stupid excuse for a football simulation.

Anyway heres the article.....

EA Sports

A New Season is Approaching!

Hello again Madden fans! It’s been over six months since we last did an official blog, but as the NFL Draft approaches the time is right to get a new year kicked off. I’ve read some comments on message boards about us being very silent about the game- and what that could possibly mean. Well allow me to break the silence and assure everyone that the development team here at Tiburon has been hard at work making what I think is shaping up to be the best Madden EVER. I feel like we are past the transitional challenges and ups-and-downs that we experienced in the early years of Next Gen, and that we have built the same type of efficiency and innovation that we had during the PS2/Xbox years. The big difference is now we are dealing with much more powerful hardware, so we can really take football gaming to a whole new level. Needless to say- I’m excited! In the wake of our long silence, I‘d like to take a second to address some of the sentiments I have been reading on message boards and give you guys a brief update:

Are you watering down Madden?!

Most of you have probably read Peter Moore’s blogs where he referenced our desire to make football gaming more approachable and easier for people of all ages and experience levels to play. We at Tiburon couldn’t agree with him more and I think that we have done a great job this year on accomplishing this goal in Madden. HOWEVER- I want to make one thing very clear! Making the game easier to approach does NOT have to compromise the great advanced gameplay experience that we have spent years building. From reading message boards it seems like our core Madden gamers (you guys) have been quick to assume that making the game more accessible means they will lose the depth they love. This is simply not the case! With proper design we can cater to both brand new and the hardest of hardcore users. Think about it… the level of depth and advanced features are the very things that have made Madden what it is today- why would we ever stray away from that? In fact this year we are adding even more depth and hardcore features than ever before AND we are also making a game that your little brother or dad can pick up and enjoy.

When will Next-Gen be “caught up” to Current Gen?!

Admittedly I have been a Current Gen guy at heart the last few years- in fact last year (Madden 08) was the first time I played a Next-Gen version of the game. I’ m also quick to tell people that Madden 2004 and Madden 2005 are my favorite versions to date. I get a lot of people, especially some of my CG playing friends, asking when will Next Gen “catch-up.” First off, I think that the term “ catch-up” is a pretty unfair term considering that some facets of NG Madden are well past CG Madden- like graphics for example. But not only do I understand the question, I constantly ask it too; when will my favorite CG features make it into NG? I’m going to go out on a limb right now and say that Madden 09 has not only “caught up” but it has surpassed CG from a sheer feature standpoint.

Another thing to note is that one of our goals is to not only bring features over from CG, but to make them better in the transition. You are going to see that with a couple of the new features that we are bringing over this year.

What about these staffing changes!?

Of course another one of the hot message board topics was the departure of David Ortiz a couple months ago. David is a really cool guy, he loved Madden and we’ll surely miss him. Stepping into his place is Phil Frazier a guy who was a key member of the Madden team back in the glory years of PS2/Xbox. Phil worked on an entire generation of Madden, in fact the most successful generation, and he is extremely in tune with what the product needs to be and what people are looking for. Luckily he also has a special place in his heart for hardcore fans- his first words to me the day he started on this project: “D-Cas! What have we done for the hardcore this year and are they going to love it!?”

Are you guys fixing the glitches from last year!?

This might be my favorite part of the job! Every year you guys find some of the most innovative ways to take advantage of our AI. Working on CG I thought of myself as a deputy of shenanigans, helping to fix everything from nano-blitzes to online disconnection cheats. And rest assured that this year will be no different! Let’s take a look at a few of the tricks we have already fixed this year:

-3 Man Front Nano- and other nano’ s of course
-Double Pass and HB Pass Plays
-Onside Kick Exploits
-Jump Catching and Spectacular Catch Exploits
-Online Disconnection Glitches- including the automotion offsides bug

Ok-so give us the goods on next year’s game! What can we expect!?

We’ve been quiet for a reason- we think this is going to be a VERY special year for the Madden franchise, not just because it is the 20th Anniversary but also because the game is looking awesome! We’ve really taken community opinions into consideration and you’ll be happy to know that you have had a direct influence on the contents of this game. We are not at a point where we are ready to release a bunch of information about the game, but we are getting ready to spill the beans very soon. Rest assured that once we make the initial announcement this year, there will be more blog content than ever to give you guys the full scoop.

I think it's sad. This will be the first year I don't preorder Madden in a long time and depending on the reviews I might not get it at all. I'm not dropping that much money on updated rosters. This game has to blow me away or I won't get it.

Your right, and this will be the first year since 1999 I will not buy Madden the night it comes out. I'm gonna wait and read what other Madden honks think about it. I think EA has to win alot of fans back after the last two years of total trash. Heck they didn't even have the right Browns uni on the Xbox360 version.

I'm sick and tired of EA sittin on their hands and charging $60 for a game that has almost nothing to it. EA you lost me....hope you go bankrupt and 2K buys you.

Yeah I know it's just a game but still.....

Aye, same here.

I have bigger fish to fry than Madden this year. If Madden turns out to be decent and they actually have the Cleveland Browns as a playable team then I'll buy it probably. Note: By Cleveland Browns I mean, jerseys that are accurate. As oppossed to the last 2 Madden Games (07' on XBOX and 08' on 360) which had the Browns with ... Brown pants.

Well its Brett as the cover guy. They redid the commentary to have Tom Hammond and Chris Collinsworth do the play by play. Sounds pretty cool actually, which it has to be for me to buy it. Supposedly the article says 85 new features...which probably means about 5-6.

Heres the article.

http://www.easports.com/madden09/fullsite/news.jsp?itemID=mpr224
