IGN has a story that was leaked giving details of online multiplayer modes for GTA IV. The game already is hyped enough and probably would be just fine without it, but is definitely intriguing to say the least. I am definitely getting this as soon as it hits the shelf. details Looks to be for up to 16 players with 15 different modes and customizable characters. Nice!

I can't wait... Just to let you know, the official site will be updated with some extra information on the 20th and 27th, as well as a fourth trailer.
Cops and Crooks looks neat.

If you all keep playing these violent games, you will be obese outcasts with no connection to society and a propensity to kill.

i would suggest putting down money and pre-ordering it, as some stores may sell out right away...
i went to the gamestop right by my work and traded in a bunch of games and just put it all towards gta, when it comes out i'll only have like 15 bucks to pay on it, plus gamestop will let you get it that monday night

I typically work afternoons on Monday, so I probably can't get it that night since I typically work early on Tuesday. I was thinking about preordering, but most of the time I can get to Wal-Mart and pick it up. Like Madden. They had a huge line at midnight, but plenty to go 'round. I'll see.

Wow, this is really going to be spectacular, I can't wait! All the trailers and all this news sounds great, but I want one thing in the game, snow! I don't think it's ever been in the game. They need to make light snow and heavy snow, so that if it's really bad it has an effect on how your car drives. Now that would be really enjoyable as well as quite funny.
BTW, my favorite GTA will always be the third edition, what is everone elses?

Vice City was the best. Loved the whole Miami, 1980's theme.

I agree. I didn't think Vice City was that good. I thought San Andreas was the best, GTA 3 was 2nd, and Vice city 3rd.

I think the theme in Vice City is best, the missions in GTA 3 is the best, and the other bonuses in San Andreas is the best.

I wish I was able to pick up Vice City Stories. Heard it combined the atmosphere of the first Vice City with the bonuses from San Andreas. You could swim too. Here's some new multiplayer information... Looks like it'll be a blast.

the driving seemed more fun in gta 3, I never played vice city, or san andreas as much as III, but it felt like the driving was more fun in III, than the others.
I forget, but in vice city or san andreas, did they give you stunt statistics like they did in GTA III, like distance jumped, air time, degrees turned, number of flips and all that fun stuff?
If I recall that feature were not present in VC or SA.

I'm sure the game will be great. The series has always impressed, and it can only get better on Next-Gen consoles.
The only thing that I hate is never seeing actual gameplay. I get tired of cutscenes and CGI when they advertise games. I'm curious to this more than anything. Oh well, I guess I'll see in a month.

There's actual gameplay in there DP.. It's just in cinematic camera. For example the scene when he drives into the police blockade, is gameplay, same as the scene where the guy is shot and falls down the stairs. It shows off the Euphoria engine, which looks great.
EDIT: Looks like most of it was gameplay:
""During my visit with the Rockstar folks yesterday they told me that about 70 percent of the video was actual gameplay footage. Yes, that chase scene is actual footage. It took one of their guys hours to perfect that high-speed 180.""

Ya, but is that the actual pic you'll see when you play? Cinematic angle probably isn't how you're going to be playing it, right?

No, but it's still the gameplay engine. When Niko rolls out of the car, he'll roll just like he did in the trailer. And when it shows the view from the inside of the car, I think that will be the dashboard view they added.

GTA IV was the reason I got a PS3 back in the fall. Then it got pushed back to the first quarter of 08 and that kind of sucked. The sports games and Rock Band have made it worth while, but I can not freaking wait for this game. I've gotten all the installments since GTA 3 the first day and it's one of my favorite game series of all time. It seems like they got back to the formula that made GTA 3 one of the single greatest video games ever and then they took the best of Vice City and San Andreas and added it in... Needless to say I'm extremely excited. Hopefully my grades won't suffer too much...

i hope they took out some of the things they did with san andreas...
not everything, but just the small stuff like going to the gym... it made the game a little too tedious...
i hope they adopted the style of shooting that saints row used, which was awesome...
but i hope they still keep the stuff that's always been around... the missions where you have a list of certain types of cars and you have to go out and steal them.. the ambulance/vigilante/fireman missions
the one thing with rockstar and the gta people is that they listen to the consumer...
people wanted to be able to shoot tires out, they put it in
swimming? they gave us that too
flying planes? check.
parachutes? you get one every time you enter a plane in san andreas
it's actually a pretty simple formula for success... listen to the people who spend money on your product
logic.
it's pretty awesome.

They took out going to the gym, but also took out planes... Which I don't really see as that big of a deal. I liked having them in SA, but never really flew around too much... Don't know how the shooting was for SR, but I've heard that to do a full lock on, you hold the trigger down, while to free aim you just slightly hold it down.
As for the bonus mission, there looks to be a bunch of them: Assassin and vigilante missions, where I believe you may actually have to capture the criminal. As for the carjacking, I've read that you get texts for whichever car you're supposed to pick up... So much stuff to look forward too, wish I had more to keep me occupied this month.
There's a 20-page article up on IGN if you guys would like to read.

the saints row system was similiar to a first person shooter, you had the crosshairs, or the reticle, or whatever you want to call it on the screen, and aimed accordindly, whereas, gta's shooting system was not one of their stronger points...
saints row is actually a pretty smooth game, it doesn't have as much for you as gta, but nonetheless, for the $30 bucks it runs for now, you get a pretty solid game...
i'm sad to hear flying was taken out, i used it a lot in gta just because it was the easiest way to get from one end of the map to another...
i wonder, if maybe on the next gen system, if they will somehow incorporate multiple cities? like being able to go to the airport and fly to vice city, and then fly to san andreas, and then back to liberty city?
could you imagine that?

It sure would be alot of game... I don't imagine they'd be able to fit that all on one CD, but with the way technology is going it wouldn't be a great surprise.
Now that they have the engine, we'll probably be seeing a new GTA on the horizon. Didn't Vice City come out only about a year and a half after 3?

that's why i said possibly next gen... but who knows when that kind of technology will be around...
yeah, vice city was released in 2002, 12 months after 3 was released, and san andreas was 2004...
now, with almost 4 years between games, and a next-gen system, i really wonder what differences there will be...
i really like how they are going to incorporate the cell phone into this game, no more ammunations, you just call your guy and he meets you somewhere, and like it was mentioned before, you will get some missions via cell phone...
i'm jacked for this game
i just started playing bioshock today too, hahaha, i got it for christmas from my girlfriend and i just haven't gotten around to playing it (i've been skating a ton, and with my free time, i've been playing cod and nhl) but wow this is one of the most amazing games i've ever played...

I have to agree. At first, I thought it was cool to get to go to the gym, but after a while it just interferes with the game and wasn't any fun.
The vigilante missions were always fun. I tend to get a little ADHD and forgo a lot of the missions to just drive around, plow into people, jump off of parking decks and just cause some mayhem..

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that my 360 died on me yesterday... Video card error. All I can say is thank goodness it happened so early on. Now I won't have it as a distraction for studying for my finals.

and that is a big reason why i though GTA II was the best. If you got stuck on a mission or was just bored, you could always just drive around and see how many flips, rotations, or how far you could jump.
I hope they bring that back, and pan the camera out a bit more, make it feel more like III.
