So I went to the local EB games (which is the biggest ripoff in the world of video games) and reserved a copy for 5 bucks. I asked them, does this gaurantee a copy for me the day it is released and they said yes.
I still dont believe them. I will prob go there after work and get denied.

how did you go to EB? EB was bought out by gamestop a while back...
regardless, if you pre-order a game, you are guaranteed one, as long as you pick it up within 48 hours of the release, they will also let you come in and get it on that monday if you like (you may have to wait in line for a short time, no longer than an hour)
I just want to let out a quick rant. Gamestop is the worst place to ever make a purchase. They sell all of their used games for $5 less than retail value. You want tp purchase a used game from them that normally costs 59.99, well you pay 54.99, are you kidding me?
I went their just to see whta I could get for Tiger Woods 2008, and maybe get a different game. They told me $14 cash, $17 trade in. They were selling the games used for 54.99
the only reason I pre-ordered from there is because its on my way home from work on my bike. I truly hate the place.
buying a used game that's been released within the last 6-12 months will probably do that... i know, you're just better off buying the game brand spanking new...
but buying older games is nice, i picked up splinter cell and last year's ncaa basketball (with oden and conley) for under 30 bucks, that's not bad..
but if you're really really anticipating a game, like the gta series, that is the place to go, because they will let you pick the game up the monday before the release, whereas best buy, circuit city, etc... won't even get theirs in until midday tuesday...
ebay is also a great place to buy games... usually you can find some of the newer games used for a really good deal...
Kind of a long article, but this details the online play some more. Sounds fun! You have the entire city, including the pedestrians, cops, etc. in the online mode.
Just read it... Cops n Crooks looks fantastic. I don't have many expectations for multiplayer, because it's just an addition to a single player that we've known will be great.
3 weeks left.
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.
This game is really gonna make me hurt for not having a console right now. I thought the time around Halo 3 was going to be hard...but it wasn't that bad. As much as Halo would be fun, the 11-yr old racists screaming all the time made it lame too. GTA, on or offline, is just pure fun.
Ugh........maybe I can sell some blood.

Since EA first made known its acquisition advances toward Take-Two, Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto IV has played front and center in the back-and-forth. For EA's part, CEO John Riccitiello has praised the publisher, saying it is of paramount interest in the $2 billion takeover offer. Conversely, Take-Two's board of directors has positioned Rockstar's latest offering as the primary reason shareholders should refuse EA's hostile bid, saying acquisition discussions shouldn't even begin until after GTAIV's April 29 street date, so that, among other reasons, the company's full value can be better assessed.
Up to this point, gamers have by and large been unaffected by the two publishers' financial wrangling. However, as Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter sees it, a successful EA buyout could have dire implications for the imminent launch of GTAIV on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Appearing on Spike TV's Bonus Round (hosted by Geoff Keighley), Pachter said that were EA to acquire Take-Two, the publisher could conceivably bump GTAIV to the holiday quarter to maximize the game's profit potential and quality.
"I think it will be done and will be street ready [by April 29], but I think that if EA takes over Take-Two, they have an economic incentive to delay it," said Pachter. "If [Rockstar Games cofounders Sam and Dan Houser] feel that there's 2 percent more improvement they can make with an extra few months, then why not?"
Pachter also noted that the April 29 ship date is likely being forced upon Rockstar by Take-Two, saying "Take-Two financially has to get that game out. They don't have any wiggle room. They are going to be pretty much tapped out on their credit line and their cash position, so they need the money; they need to get it out. And they've got contractual obligations, I mean, Microsoft's paid up $50 million bucks for this downloadable content."
i also talked to the guy at gamestop, and he said they cannot release gta early, he said certain games are "street dated" and have to be released on the day it says...
and gta just happens to be one of them, this year, it sucks, because i was able to pick up vice city and san andreas a day early...
Yeah, If they do take over I'm at least glad the game is complete. If EA was involved with this game from scratch I'd probably not buy it. They have become a gaming company that puts out mediocre games for a while now. Thier crappy port of Orange Box for the PS3 that Valve has to go back and make a bunch of patches to make the game playable is just an example.
EA =
That being said, if they do get control over GTA IV, delaying it till the holiday season would make financial sence for them. Take Two wanted it out last holiday season but Rockstar was not finished with the game and it's one of the reasons that Take Two is in so much financial troble at the moment.
I bought Madden for the PSP and it had a MAJOR glitch that should NEVER have see the light of day. If you're touched by a defender, the game considers you down even though the play continues until you're tackled. So essentially, you drop back to make a pass on 1st and 10, a DE cruises by you, you break the tackle, pass for a 80 yard TD and then......it's 2nd and 16 with no TD. And the same thing happened on runs too.
It made the game unplayable. Heck, I could deal with a "can't throw on a fake punt for a first down on the opponents side of the 50" kind of bug. And you know what EA did for the first four months after the release....NOTHING! No comment on their website or forums. They eventually offered to exchange the game but at that point, it's way too late. You didn't even know for four months if you were going to get a new game. I sold it right away and swore to never buy another EA Madden game again.

ok, how many times did you play GTA III when you were bored, or beat the game, and just drove around for fun? And in the process, im sure you tried to jump of buildings and see how far you can go, or run your car into a curb to see how many times you can make it flip? these stats gave you a measuring stick.

guess im flying solo on this one.
Maybe not solo, but im not flying with you.
Its such a minor thing, like you said, "after you beat the game" type of thing, I dont see how it could be that disappointing.

No, I have ADD. I enjoyed doing that as well. Sometimes I get distracted easily and just rome around aimlessly.
i like the statistics on your car doing different stuff, but honestly, it wouldn't keep me from buying this game if it wasn't in there...
in the old gta games, i loved using cheats to load up on weapons, trapping myself in a parking garage, killing people with a sniper rifle, and getting my wanted level to a point where i could get the army after me
just so i could steal a tank and drive it around town, because nothing beats a tank

Or you could put in the tank cheat code and the raise wanted level cheat code.
