I like Haggans if he comes in at the right price. I see him as a short term stop gap and I dont want to see us dole out big $ for a one year stop gap.

I think Haggans can help the team at a reasonable price, but I believe he wouldn't be the possible huge difference maker (pass rusher) that Edwards could be or even Colvin, if deemed healthy.

Why would it matter if we signed him to a huge one year contract? I mean if we have the space, might as well. It wouldn't hurt us next year, so I don't see the harm.

We could shell out 15 mil to him for a one year contract and it wouldn't exactly effect the team. You know?

Multi year contracts with huge bonus' are what hurts teams. That's when it gets risky.

Sure it wouldn't hurt the team cap wise in the short term...but when your LB say wimbley is up for free agency u better believe his agent is going to talk about singing haggans for 15mill a year and want smiliar money

soo...Clark haggans....good idea or bad? 3-4 can never have nuf LBs i say if we can get him for fair price we should....i can see us drafting more stud LBs in future drafts...IF the moves we made this year fixes the D-Line i see our next target to be the secondary but we will NOT pass up a stud LB next year if we have a shot...

List of LBs we have from the official site-
59 Adams, Keith LB 5-11 238 11/22/1979 7 Clemson
54 Davis, Andra LB 6-1 250 12/23/1978 6 Florida
53 Griffin, Kris LB 6-3 245 05/27/1981 3 Indiana (Pa.)
58 Jackson, D'Qwell LB 6-0 240 09/26/1983 2 Maryland
55 McGinest, Willie LB 6-5 270 12/11/1971 14 Southern California
90 McMillan, David LB 6-3 250 09/20/1981 3 Kansas
56 Peek, Antwan LB 6-3 255 10/29/1979 5 Cincinnati
52 Stewart, Matt LB 6-3 239 08/31/1979 7 Vanderbilt
51 Thompson, Chaun LB 6-2 255 05/22/1980 5 West Texas A&M
94 Williams, Leon LB 6-2 250 07/30/1983 2 Miami (Fla.)
95 Wimbley, Kamerion LB 6-3 260 10/13/1983 2 Florida State

Other then the starting LBs and Leon Williams i don't see a whole lot of potential here...

I pretty much agree, although I still hold out hope that McMillan can become the type of pass rusher he was in college. He hasn't been able to transition into the NFL yet but he has potential to be a serious pass rushing threat.

I don't like this whole Clark Haggans idea. I feel we did enough through free agency, and I don't think some washed up Steeler will benefit us. I would really like to Chaun Thompson emerge. I root for the guy every year. I have a bad feeling if went somewhere else like Pukesburgh, we would regret it. The steelers just have some magic formula for manufacturing line backers. ugh.

So let me get this straight...

The Steelers have a formula for producing good linebackers, therefore you don't want our underachieving linebacker to go there, as he will turn around his career and make us pay two (or three) times a year. But, you don't want to sign a linebacker that was a product of the same linebacker manufacturing guru's?

A general post to everybody...

This thread should have been originally made as a post in the "FA Players Scheduled to Visit Cleveland" thread.

It started by simply stating..."at 1:50 they say Haggans will visit the browns next week!? hmmm interesting".

The "Visits" thread is for visits, obviously. That's a no brainer.

Since it wasn't done correctly, It should have been moved there.

But considering the number of non-football related posts that had been made in it, the correct thing for me to have done actually would have been to just delete it for that reason.

(At the time I posted this the thread had 24 posts. Only 10 of them contained strictly football related material. The other 14 posts contained a squabble over the validity or not of starting a new thread with this information.)

I only took the time to edit it and leave it up as an example of why it should have been a post in an existing thread and how very quickly a Pure Football thread can go to crap.

Let's be mindful of where we post information. Even more important than that... let's talk Pure Football in this forum and leave the squabbling to the Shack and the Tailgate.

One more thing, I deleted one post because it was not football related. But it made a good point also. We Refs do appreciate it when you guys help police the board.

Exactly right. Thompson has not reached his potential due to mis use. Where as Hagans had his potential maxed out by a solid scheme in pittsburgh. Just because he was solid in pittsburgh, doesnt mean he will be in Cleveland. Thats just my opinion.

It would be nice if Peek could stay healthy and show some of his talent, he was hyped about alot last year when signed.
