Browns fire Robiskie

BEREA -- The Cleveland Browns have fired wide receiver coach Terry Robiskie.
Robiskie has served in many roles with the Browns since signing on in 2001. He was interim head coach after Butch Davis resigned.

In other Browns news, Jason Garrett could be coming to Cleveland.

Garrett played at University School and was a backup to Troy Aikman, winning two Super Bowl rings with the Cowboys.

He could be coming to Browns as quarterback coach/offensive coordinator

about time!!

I like the guy... but you can't keep a guy just because you like him... our WRs have vastly underachieved and Robo should have been the FIRST person to put a lid on BE.

This is one guy I won't miss. It's not like our receivers were ever anything special under him.

I believe we've had several WRs who can run crappy routes.

It does amaze me how his son catches everything that comes near him, yet the guys he was paid to teach dropped seemingly 50%

Hallelujah! We're on our way to the super bowl for sure. Finally someone will tell the WRs to catch the ball. I hope they hire somebody with a big boot to kick Braylon in the hip pads after he drops passes. If I have to watch that loser I might as well be entertained.

[color:"white"]Nobody should feel badly for Robo. He got to stay and watch his son play football for the state college team, and he's earned a ton of money doing it.

It was time.........it was past time. [/color]

YES! YES! YES!

We're going to the Super Bowl!!! Firing coaches will work. It always works for us.

And we all know that NFL coaches actually teach wide receivers to catch.

And we all know how much better our offense got after we fired Mo. Nevermind that we didn't score an offensive TD in several games.

And we all know that this team turned it around after firing Butch. I mean.....we won 4 games this year.

Celebrating over a man being fired.

MO--RONS!!! I'm not sure what is worse........the Browns or many of you guys.

So you're saying we should have kept Robo?? Care to give some reasons why you think that firing him is bad? or why we should have kept him?

What in the heck is the point of having coaches if they don't impart something on the players?

Granted, none, and I mean NONE of the WR we have let go have went on to bigger and better things. Aside from Bryant. I am speaking of the ones that started here.

Good coaching should make a difference if you have coachable players. I can't say that he has always had that.

I don't mind the cleaning house but it starts at the top. Bring in better, coachable players.

No........I'm saying it is wrong to celebrate when a man loses his job.

I am also saying you're clueless if you think our wide receivers are going to get better by bringing in a new coach.

I will say that I have coaching experience and I went to TC and watched the individual drills. Robo's drills were excellent. He was a good communicator and really broke things down....meaning, he explained everything. He made guys do things over if they weren't right. He also ran crisp drills. I was impressed. But, that isn't even my point. I simply think it is lame to celebrate a man being fired. And it's ridiculous to lay the problems at his feet.

If you guys only knew the half of it when it comes to Leon.......

But, don't let me stop you. Keep patting yourselves on the back saying what a great move this is.

This should make my brother happy. The youngest Robiskie is Chagrin Falls' starting QB.

Brian's overrated too, he never did jack squat against us.

I've never been a Robo fan squarely for the Chagrin Falls factor (West G hates Chagrin).

bound to happen...

to be honest... Romeo shouldnt have to sit down and keep the WR's like Braylon in check.. it should be the WR coach... and thats why ROBO got fired..

Who's Next?

I always kinda liked Robo. I have to say I'm sorry to see him go, and I wish him success wherever he lands. (unless of course it's somewhere else in the AFC North) He may not have been the greatest WR coach, but he sure seemed like a good man, and therefore someone I was happy to have represent the Browns for a while.

Whatever happened to the thought that Leon should have kept Leon in check?

I just love the "reasoning" of the "I never met an excuse that I couldn't use" generation.

Leon should have kept himself in check... but once he got 'out of check' his immediate coach is the first person who should step up and put him in his place.

Not saying this is the sole reason Robo was let go, but I put some blame (some mind you) on him for BE not being on a leash

Jay, you forgot to mention the OL at OSU. World of difference, when you get that extra second or 100th of second for the WR and QB to hook-up. JMHO

I'll say this again............you guys don't know the half of it.......hell, you don't know the tenth of it w/Leon.

Believe me or not. But, let me ask you who was the first one to tell you that we would be losing multiple coaches? Before any other poster. Before the media? And who told you about Leon before this [censored] ever even got to the media?

Jay......when bad picks are made, it isn't usually the two at fault who take the blame. It's crazy. And I'm not even saying that Leon is the only reason Robo was fired. It wasn't. Truth is.........the offense sucked this year. It's been bad for quite some time. I will tell you that I was impressed by his drills. In fact, I thought his and lbers db coach were the two best positon coaches that I saw. I really liked the last RB coach under Butch too. I forget his name. Polo or something like that. That guy could teach. It's just tough in the NFL when the players make so much money and have been "the guy" everywhere they have gone. If a guy like Leon wants to be a dick, he's going to be a dick.

The sad thing is that this isn't over. More coaches will go this year. And we aren't going to win next year. That means even more changes. Where does it lead? Seriously, how many times does it have to happen before people learn?

<<sigh>> Everytime we fire a coach, I am reminded of just how pathetic we are. And Jay...........after Savage's first draft, I called this scenerio to a Tee. I still remember all the insults. Now, those same posters are calling for RAC's head. Wait until you hear them next year. The stuff earlier this year w/Mo willl seem tame. Copy this and shove it in my face if it doesn't come true!!!

Well Vers I will admit that I have never seen him coach in person... he got there after I got out of Berea.

But I do think it was time for a change and a lot of it on our offensive side of the ball... and with Leon... wether it be the WR coach, OC, or HC... SOMEONE needed to set him straight... even if that meant benching him for half the season... and from what I've seen no one did it...

Damn....i don't like that! Dennis Northcutt was just plain garbage. The bottom line for being a WR was(and i thought)if the ball TOUCHES your HANDS, you GOT to catch it!?That's what i teach my son.

Don't like it at all....how come Davidson wasn't the 1st? He's the damn O-line coach and off.coordinator.

I will not celebrate Robo being fired. I might celebrate his replacements arrival (if it is an upgrade). I think we will see many more firings this year. If we still stink next year RAC will be gone. The Cleveland Browns never learn.

Personally I would like to see the entire coaching staff fired and replaced with experienced coaches who have played and have winning track records in coaching positions. RAC is a poor leader, good follower. JMHO

We weren't going to win next year anyway. It's clear to me that we need leaders as coaches....maybe our players will learn something from them.

Exactly. People we are years away from winning and if we have to keep firing coaches to find the right ones then that's what we have to do.

We have talent but we do have a few key pieces missing.

Cincinatti lost for 15 straight years and the same team that went 2-14 went 8-8 the next year under Marvin Lewis with almost the exact same players and two years later won the division and went to the playoff's.

Coaching matters I don't care what anybody thinks.

Versatile,
Thank you for being one of the few people that went to TC and actually SAW how he taught/coached receivers. Here in DC, I went to redskin camp and saw the same thing. To me, he was always the scapegoat for fans and now for the front office. If people would think for longer than a second, look at the lack of talent he coached in previous years!! Please, the receivers he coached into some type of decent unit , are not even in the league now! If he is fired, fine, then the O-line coach should be next, behind him, the d-line coach, the linebacker coach should tell his wife not to make big purchases for the next few weeks also!!.. LMAO
