I actually like Rex Hadnot to start at RG. He might look alot better with some talent around him, nothing against Tucker or McKinney, but Tucker is old and McKinney is solid, but just solid. Rex could suprise us.

Wild card is Bentley, you never know. Odds clearly stacked way against him, but hey you just never know.

Also I can't see us going in to 2008 with our current LB' s, I think we want to trade AD but will it happen? I still hope Al Wilson will be signed and then move AD for a late pick.

If you wanna get Al Wilson, fine. But why get rid of AD...and for a late round pick? How is that helping the LB situation. You get rid of someone who at least knows the defense and can contribute, for someone who's gonna struggle to make the practice squad. I can't see that as a good idea.

Tucker was a stud at RG for us last year, our Oline play actually improved when Tuck went to RG full time. Tuck is not that old for a guard and I think will play at a Pro Bowl level for us this season. Not only that but he brings a nasty streak to ur Oline that is desirable. Hadnot and Mckinney are very nice depth though.

As far as Andre Davis, I realize AD is not a PB caliber LB and I want to upgrade the spot too but I dont see a reason to get rid of AD. Hes a nice LB just not at the level we need. He has a cap friendly deal, so I would say keep him for depth.

Dorsey....With Anderson as the Starter we should have an experienced Veteran QB to Mentor Quinn , watching Anderson succeed only means that he's on the bench or traded by next season....IF Anderson takes a step back , Quinn would benefit more from having that Mentor....Watching Anderson who is still learning and unproven himself IMO doesn't help Quinn....The idea that Dorsey , who is intelligent fills that role in invalid because he has never had success in the NFL....

Wright & Harrison....I would be happy if we added another Power RB to the mix....

Tucker & Stallworth as Starters...

Success on the field isn't the only measure of what someone brings to the team.

Sorry, it isn't.

The learning aspect of the game has nothing to do with watching players.

Fans do that.

You are correct sir.
Some of the best coaches were not able to make it on the field.
In the same note, some of the best players are never good coaches.

You can say what you want and I get your points and tend to agree with you to some extend....However , I still would feel better with at least 1 QB on the roster who has had some bonefide success in the NFL....That QB may or may Not have qualities as a Mentor , that could only be determined after we sign him....However , that QB will Know what it takes to win and also how to handle winning....Have that QB ready to step in IF Anderson fails and Quinn isn't ready due to lack of experience could be invalueable ....

I really wish we would have brought Roye back just to be a rotational player ... play maybe 10-12 snaps a game. I think he still has that in him, and such few snaps could keep him healthy and effective. I think that would have given us a very solid DL rotation.

Now that you've laid out the depth chart, I am very concerned that our LBs are just average, and that we have too much youth and lack of depth at corner. Nothing that no one doesn't know already, just now that I've seen it on paper, I don't like the looks of it.

I've been watching some old games from last year recently. Although Bodden had fallen off, we are going to miss him more than I originally thought. He's not a good man-to-man guy anymore, but he's very smart in zone coverage, he's a good tackler, and he's typically good in run support. Holly, who I really like and I'm glad we will retain, would be best suited as a dime guy, IMO. Bodden - Nickel, Holly - Dime, with Wright, McDonald as starters. That would have been nice. Although I understand the Rogers trade fully.

I'm kind of taking this thread in a weird direction, but seeing the depth chart you proposed on paper made these thoughts creep into my head.

We are in big trouble at LB and CB. I hope Savage has something up his sleeve, but what can he really do at this point? Options are very, very limited. We are at least another year from being a Top 5 team in this league.

Now maybe, just maybe the DL will have that trickle down effect, but I just don't think it's going to be to the point where we make most of these average LBs and defenders look like Pro Bowlers. We need a Pro Bowl caliber ILB, and a really good nickel guy.

However, I do believe Wimbley will be a household name by the end of the year.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

i'm ok with wright being our number one guy in the secondary...

mcdonald showed flashes of brilliance too, but will these guys get into a sophmore slump?

linebacker worries me too, although this will be year 3 for wimbley, jackson, and williams, so if these guys are going to be a part of the future, they won't be able to use the "young" excuse this year... because they'll have the experience, as well as the help up front with the additions of corey williams and shaun rogers... not to mention that we've still got robaire smith and and shaun smith to make a nice 4-man rotation...

we all can agree that we think wimbley can make a few steps this year, but i think the focus is going to be on jackson...

we all remember phil savage saying that he drafted him because he reminded him a lot of ray lewis... so now, we've gotta see it...

i'm worried about the depth with our linebackers too, what does mcginest have left? can antwan peek earn more time on the field, and make more plays?

we know what we're getting with davis, and i don't know much about shantee orr... and i think leon williams is progressing, but that worries me more than anything else...

with the help up front though, we should really know a lot more about these guys and what they can do, because like i said, there won't be too many excuses they can use if the defensive line is doing what they're supposed to do...
