cavs lose by 15 today to orlando, very, very dissapointing game by the cavs...
once again, they folded in the fourth quarter...
i'm really worried about this team, and the upcoming playoffs...
in the long run, the hughes trade may turn out to benefit the cavs, but right now, it is not...
the defense isn't good enough, guys are getting clean looks on the perimeter, and we're allowing too many easy layups...
as far as the guys we've gotten...
ben wallace has fit in great, he's doing what he's supposed to do... he's undersized at his position, whether that be the 4 or the 5, but defensively he's doing his job, and he's still the same menace on the boards that he was in detroit, he's not the problem...
joe smith is another guy who is giving solid minutes off the bench...
i give delonte west a free pass, because like i've said before, you don't just come to a team and become the starting point guard, it doesn't work like that, and he's going to need training camp to develop chemistry with this team, as far as knowing when to make it an uptempo game, and when to slow the game down, finding guys' sweet spots on the court, and just overall running the team, however, one thing that we should see from him now is being more agressive to the hoop, he has a really nice first step, good speed, there is no reason he can't get a few cheap buckets a la tony parker, i've seen it out of him, just not enough...
wally szcerbiak has been a huge dissapoinment... i don't know what it is, at first i figured it was just getting comfortable, but we're more than a month past this trade and he is not knocking down shots...
right now, i think the cavs are a team that will win one series, and beyond that, i just don't know...
and worst of all, lebron is really hurting, and a back injury is something that scares me a little...
i just want to reiterate that i still think this was a good trade, down the line, this should make the cavs better, and larry hughes made it pretty clear that he doesn't care about trying to win a championship...
it's just that this year may be a lost cause, but i do look for the cavs to really be good next year... they'll have the players, and they will also have the salaries to bring in a potential superstar to go alongside lebron...
i mean, things can change, the playoffs could start, and these guys could come together, but i just don't see it right now...

The Cavs are in a heap of trouble(especially, if LBJ's back is more serious than they let on!?)

if it was anything serious, they would have held him out, they have a 3 game cushion on their spot, and they have no chance of moving up...
but still, it could linger when the playoffs start, and that worries me...

The defense is Casper.....they're showing no heart.....to me, "Aimin' Jones needs to see the floor....he's the only one who's jumper is on point right now....

our perimter shooting is a joke...
and we don't set up well for it, we need more 3's set up by making that extra "hockey" pass...
you've gotta shoot 3's in rythym, orlando did a hell of a job with that today
but even wally is missing those... and gibson doesn't look quite ready, he missed a few open looks that he always puts in

IMHO...Our Multi-Player Trade will only cause us to to take a step back this Post-Season....In terms of Position Changes , based on Fantasy Basketball stats (+ 1 / -1 ).... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PF..-4.3 pts. per game....Having Wallace for Big $ until 2010....Is it worth it ?
SG..-7.0 pts. per game..Szczerbiak also for Big $ until 2009 Also worth it ?....
PG..-1.3 pts. per game...We still have Gibson + West so IMO we gain here....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Trades were not made for this season IMHO we just don't seem to have the Health and Cohesion as a team that a team must have to do well in the Playoffs....Personally I just don't see us getting back to the NBA Finals....I don't even see us repeating as Eastern Conference Champions....So I hope that as has ben mentioned , we do have $ to spend in a few years that we use it wisely to add another Star so that we can continue to move forward....

going to the finals and repeating as ecf champs are the same thing...
but i see what you mean, and i agree, there is no cohesion with this team right now, and how can we really expect that from mike brown? not only were a handful of guys sent off, but he lost 2 starters, and has 4 new guys to work into the rotation, couple that with the constant injuries, and he's been screwed, this isn't mike brown's fault, and if we don't get back to the finals, that is not his fault either...
however, next year, we'll have the expiring salaries of wally z, joe smith, damon jones, eric snow, and also anderson varejao (who we may lose to FA anyways)
with that kind of money, we could get the top guy on the block...
michael redd, tracy mcgrady... anyone who isn't happy in their situation, we would be a prime choice... it all just depends on who's made available before the deadline next season...
personally, i'd like to see something done similiar to how boston got kg and ray allen done, something done before the season starts...
i think michael redd could be that guy, because there have been rumors flying around that he's very unhappy in milwaukee, and that his teammates don't want to play with him, but again, is that exactly someone want to bring into your locker room?
it's a tough choice, but a very crucial one
trading hughes and gooden for what we have now made us a better basketball team, in the long run, but being able to trade some of those contracts for a quality player, an all star caliber player, could take us from a better basketball team, to a great basketball team, a true contender...
elton brand is another guy that i think we could possibly try and make a run at... a 20&10 guy every night, he will be in the final year of his deal next year, and i'm not sure if the clippers want to keep him or not (who really knows with the clippers)
although we'd be backloaded with big guys if we were not able to get rid of joe smith or ben wallace in that deal...
ron artest is another name that i'm intrigued by, i know that he carries baggage, but next year is his final year, and if we could possibly try and have him keep it together for a year, the cavs could really use a guy like that, who plays both ways...
and he has expressed interest in the past about coming to cleveland, i believe his exact words were, he wouldn't mind going to cleveland and coming off the bench to back lebron james up...

The Cavs are playing terrible.
I think they are out in the first round this year. I really hope they prove me wrong.

The great thing about the CAVS, LBJ. LeBron has the potential to take the team on his back when it means the most. We saw it versus Detroit last year. However, with the way they are playing I agree it's very scary The end of the year is NOT the time to play your worst ball of the season.
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!

When the trade went down, I said that our perimeter defense was a big concern for me. People underestimate what Hughes and Ira could do on the perimeter. Right now, our perimeter defense is horrible.
I also said that West was the key to the trade. I hear what you are saying about him needing time, but I'm not sure if he is a true championship PG. He seems more like a street ball player than a guy who understands offensive sets and how to attack a defense. I was really hoping he would be the guy, but he has too much street ball in him and is really lacking in fundamentals and understanding the game.
One thing I did not say, but it seems to be hurting us somewhat. I think we miss Gooden's offense. The guy could be a bone head at times, but he had to be defended in the low post and along the base line. He was also very capable of getting hot and carrying us for extended periods of time. I think we miss his offense.

I think they will make an early exit, regardless. Not so much because of "the new guys didn't have enough time to gel" or "the new guys didn't gel PERIOD" excuses that we may hear, but because of injuries, not being able to get into a rhythm and Mike Brown not having a clue with some of his ridiculous rotations (needs an offensive coordinator...BAD).
I hate it that this team seems to have the "Michael Jordan mentality" where they seem to think that they can "turn it up a notch at the drop of a hat". They can't! They are not THAT good.
That being said, I hope they prove me wrong. I just see an early exit, and disappointment, this year.

i think joe smith can pretty much do everything that gooden can, minus the rebounding (but joe is a better defender, and a smarter player)
i like delonte west... i'm not sure if he's a championship starting point guard, but i do believe he can have some kind of a role on this team... he's quick, he's a great ball handler, he just needs to take the initiative at times...
i think if we give him time we'll see him be much more effective...
