 Revealed: Steely McBeam actor arrested for DUI By Jodi Weigand TRIBUNE-REVIEW Wednesday, April 9, 2008 Buzz up! Steely McBeam's reputation is now a bit tarnished. One of the men hired by the Steelers to play the mascot has been fired. Kenneth Hahey, 24, of Mt. Washington was charged with drunken driving after he was stopped in the South Side in January, according to Pittsburgh municipal court records. His blood alcohol level was .166, according to a police affidavit. Steelers spokesman David Lockett said Hahey has been "released from his duties." Lockett said Steely McBeam will still be a part of the Steelers. "We haven't had any discussion at all about changing that," he said. "He's still going to be out there in the community uninterrupted." According to the criminal complaint, Hahey ran a red light while turning from Carson Street onto 10th Street about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 6. When an officer stopped Hahey, the officer detected a strong smell of alcohol and Hahey's speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, the affidavit stated. Hahey failed roadside DUI tests. He was given three chances to pass the walk-and-turn test after he first complained that he was nervous and then said he wasn't on level ground. Hahey was taken to the Allegheny County Jail because officers couldn't verify his address in order to proceed with a summons. Hahey waived the charges to court Feb. 21, according to court records. He will be formally arraigned May 23. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribunereview/sports/s_561456.html

Of course, if it was James Harrison arrested for DUI, Rooney would have kept him.

That was my second thought, if he were a pro-bowler, they would have kept him around.
Funny stuff.

He's also been being charged with terrorizing a child.
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

I had that thought as well, but then I recall last year when I was dragged kicking and screaming to Heinz Field and met the demented looking fellow. He can't even see out of that costume to walk in a wide open area, let alone drive a car. This gal was leading him around by the arm as he scared little kids everywhere....

Did he have buns of steel?
anyway....
Steely McBeam is drunk in a bar (what else is new) and is trashed. He gets sick and throws up all over himself.
"What am I going to do? If my wife finds out I threw up all over my costume, she'll kill me!"
The bartender says, "Look. Its real simple. Put $20 in your costume pocket. When you get home, tell her Roethlisberger vomitted on you and gave you 20 bucks to get the costume cleaned."
Steely slurs, "Ya know...thaaaat just might werrrrk."
So Steely gets home and his wife is furious. "What the heck happened?!?!" she screams.
As he reaches into his pocket and pulls out some money he says, "Ben Roethlisberger threw up on me and gave me $20 to get the vomit off the suit."
She takes the money and says, "Hey...this is $40. Didn't you just say $20?"
Steely comes back, "Oh yeah...I forgot. He also crapped in my pants."
"My signature line goes here."

What is it with mascots anymore?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bulls mascot reportedly shoots T-shirts at Garnett, Posey
ESPN.com news services
Updated: April 2, 2008, 10:09 PM ET
The Chicago Bulls players don't have much bite these days, but the mascot isn't messing around.
According to a report in the Boston Globe on Wednesday, Bennie the Bull shot T-shirts out of an air gun at Celtics players Kevin Garnett and James Posey during Tuesday night's game.
"I felt threatened," Posey said, according to the newspaper. "They already don't like me here already."
Posey has a history with the Bulls. A number of hard fouls and confrontations when he was a member of the Miami Heat led to him being booed every time he touched the ball on Tuesday. "I don't feel safe," Posey continued. "The T-shirts were fired out of that gun or whatever. I feel a little sore in one spot. I might have to get treatment. First, I thought it was a teammate just tapping me. But then I looked down and there were T-shirts and there were only two down there. Let's see how the league handles this."
After the incident during a timeout with 2:49 left, Garnett glared at the furry Bull.
"We exchanged words," Garnett said, according to the paper.
What the guy is saying may be 100% true, but reading that, could he come across as any more of a crybaby?
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism
We need a drunken "throwdown" between Steely McBeam and Benny the Bull like when the Stanford Tree got into it with another mascot.
Throw one more into the mix.......which one was it.....was it a Brewer or a Pirate player that hit one of the mascot sausages with a baseball bat from the dugout? Put him in there too and have a cage match....
I just noticed that it said "ONE of the men hired" to play Steely McBeam? You mean there are duplicates? There's more than one person who would swallow their pride and wear that costume? It's like the Yinzer version of WWE's Ultimate Warrior.
With a name like Steely McBeam getting arrested for a DUI; Im pictering he was wearing a robe; going commando; drinking a martini; powdering his nose with his porn star director, off a mirror on the middle counsel; with a car full of drunk half-naked female mascots or NFL cheerleaders. Or was that an ESPN commercail with Dan Patrick in the passenger seat
