I'll be your best friend. (that's enough to scare most people away)

It's in really bad shape.

Hi Michelle. No, I just had the cassette made into a CD...and it's really bad quality...but it's a real special one.

The biggest hurdle will be the manner in which it is messed up.

If it is scratches & pops as if from a record player, then you should be able to clean it up fairly easily.

It it has lots of echo from reverb as if it were recorded on a 1950's era microphone inside of a concert hall with the volume all out of whack, you're pretty much screwed.

Scratches & Pops = easy
Reverb is near impossible to remove because the "bad" sounds occur in the same frequency and period as the "good" sounds you want to keep... .or something like that. Anyway, you'll end up butchering it.

I can possibly clean it up depending on how bad it is. I've got the software on my computer and access to a recording studio...

However two things, A) I'm in Montana now and B) My schedule is jam packed until probably mid-late summer.

I've talked to him in PM's. And short of someone with digital re-mastering equipment, I don't think you will be able to do much with it, especially since it is a 3rd possibly 4th generation copy. I'm not sure digital without the masters would do much either.

some pop and hiss removal and dynamic EQ adjustments might make it more tolerable, but I doubt it will really help much.

hmm...I guess I should've come clean right from the start.

What I have is the CBS radio broadcast of the 1964 Championship game between the Browns and the Colts. (we won 27-0....our last NFL championship). Gary Collins, Frank Ryan, Jim Brown and the Browns D were the stars of the game. Leroy Kelly made at least 3 special teams tackles (one nulified by pennalty) with one of them a key stop at the Colts 11, pinning them deep.

I've had it on cassette for probably 10 years or more. Finally got it put onto CD's (took 3 of them). With my Nero 8 I cut out the commercials and stuff to shorten it to 2 CD's (1st half on one, 2nd half on the other).

PROBLEM IS, there's this high pitched radio sound in the background that really becomes annoying.

I have used the software before, maybe version 8 I am not a novice at it, but not an expert.

I used it to clean up and restore some Springsteen recordings that I had taped of of WMMS, but then found that they were available elsewhere.

A football game should be real easy to do. Voices are much simpler than music to fix.

That would probably be pretty easy to dial out. I'm an udio engineer but to say I'm busy is a damned silly understatement.

Ahh, thanks for sharing.

Would have been better if it was an old mix tape (recordings from FM radio) for a girlfriend.
