College hockey's Frozen Four teams face off in Denver

Associated Press - April 10, 2008 2:04 AM ET

DENVER (AP) - The college hockey's Frozen Four tournament will kick off at the Pepsi Center tomorrow night.

The matchups will feature Notre Dame against Michigan and Boston College against North Dakota.

It's the first time Denver is hosting the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship since 1976.

The Notre Dame Irish come in as the upstarts, while the Michigan Wolverines possess the experience. Michigan's nine national championships are the most in the country.

For the third straight year, Boston College and North Dakota will face off in the semifinals of the Frozen Four.

Was a great game. One of the best hockey games I've seen in some time.

I definitely think Michigan was looking past it though. They just weren't mentally ready to play early in the game. The fact that they could come back from a 3-0 1st period deficit, against a goalie as good as Pearce, tells me that they came in a little too overconfident.

They dominated the 2nd and 3rd periods but just expended way too much energy clawing back in it. To not be able to clear the puck and give up a goal like that in OT was pretty disappointing.

Hats off to ND, they had to have a big offensive night to beat UM and that's exactly what they got.

ESPN LINK

Saturday, April 12
National championship
Notre Dame (27-15-4) vs. Boston College (24-11-8), 7 p.m., ESPN

I suppose I'd have to root for the underdog in this one.....Go ND! Feels weird saying that.

Can't watch, I'm still salty at the Redhawks for their meltdown against BC.
