Can anyone who keeps up with it tell me, what happened to Vinny?

They didn't give details, but he took another job. They showed him riding away on his last day saying he had another opportunity.

From wiki Answers...

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_did_vinnie_leave_american_chopper

Vinnie Dimartino and Cody Connelly from Orange County Choppers have both left the company to start their own custom bike shop called V-Force Customs in Rock Tavern, NY. The corporate website is: http://www.vforcecustoms.com

Well that sucks...I liked Vinny. But it's cool they started their own company.

I always kind of wondered how much those guys make, obviouly the Tuetles are making millions but I always wondered what the other key characters on the show were making. Obviously not enough, or they wouldnt have taken off to start their own shop.

I've wondered the same thing. I bet they get paid pretty well.

I was lucky enough to see the Lance Armstrong bike from a few feet away. Pretty sweet bike. I just uploaded some of the pics to shutterfly. Let me know if you can't see them...

Not necessarily. Sometimes a man just has to make his own way. They took the money they collected and started their own. Hell, it's not easy to start a custom bike company without the proper equipment...that capital had to come from somewhere. Maybe they got a loan, but they had to have collateral.

Or, over the years they have just been stealing it from work and stockpiling it waiting until they had enough to leave and start their own company...

He's been an integral part of the show for years and has the skill... hell, he's evolved the skill on the show itself. That itself is enough to garner him investment capital from someone if he wanted it.

Well from what i've been able to find on the net they are thinking about a show that's more involved with just showing how to build choppers.. Along the lines of 2 guys and a garage type.

Stay away from all the hopla that chopper does with fighting and blowing things up.

That's cool...I could tell Vinny was getting tired of the Teutels (however you spell their name). I would too, though, all that damn screamin and yellin will take it's toll eventually.

If they do get their own show...I'll be tuned in...I'm a big Vinny fan!

And ya kow Rick is getting tired of it also.. Once Vin and Cody can afford to pay Rick i think he's next to go.

I was a construction foreman for a long time before i was phyically forced to retire. And there was one thing Paul Sr said on the show that Vin left on that had me upset with his thinking.

He said along the lines that everybody is replaceable. My comment was ya everyone's replaceable but ya can't replace a good employee with just anybody. If ya get a good one you do your best to keep'em.

I like Vinny too. It seemed like more often than not the Tutel men would be off doing appearances and the fun stuff while Vinny was left behind to work. Makes you wonder if he felt like he was being taken advantage of at times.

I remember the episode where his wife was delivering there first baby - Sr. seemed more concerned about how long Vinny was going to be away from the shop.

Hey I just figured if all the cops are corrupt and judges are all incompetent liars.. then maybe a mechanic is capable of doing something underhanded...

Paul Sr. had built two very successful businesses before beginning OCC. he used that to finance the building of OCC. There was no need for loans, but obviously there was a huge amount of capital needed. It's amazing that he was able to build three very successful mutlt million dollar companies coming out of nothing.

Vinny needs his own show.

The whole "dysfunctional biker family" facade has worn a little thin with me..............................

The steel company is being run by his other son...Those 2 working on choppers are afraid of heights so they never would have made it in the steel business. Still Paul Sr does get credit for what he's done.

I remember that too. I remember thinking that that was the straw that would eventually break the camel's back!

Sr.'s an ass.

The reason OCC is so big, is primarily due to Jr.

I disagree, without Sr there would be no business. Jrs vision and craftmanship would get him nowhere without his dad pushing his lazy behind. I realize SR can be a jerk but sometimes to run a business you have to be that way.

Jr. can be a bit lazy...but why do you think they have so many customers...it's not to hear Sr yell, it's because Jr builds a helluva bike.

I'm not saying that OCC didn't get off the ground because of Sr. I'm saying that it wouldn't be a million dollar business if it wasn't for Jr.

Do you remember the first show, and the jet bike. Jr. built that thing basically by himself, Sr. stood around bitching and rushing. There was no Rick, there was no Vinny. That bike catapulted OCC to a whole season of American Chopper, along with the dynamics of the father-son relationship between Sr. and Jr.

I thought the jet bike was corny, I think it was the spider bike that ended up being bought by Wyclef that blew them up. I would say they have both played equal and important roles in the company. Like it has been said though SR has already built a very successful steel fabrication company. He was the one that harnessed JRs talents and put them to use in that company going through the roof.

Can't disagree with you there...I'm just sick of Sr. always pumpin his chest out like "I'm the boss"...but yet Jr. is his partner...

It's due to the Discovery Channel. I wonder what they did to land that...

It was an impulse decision...actually, the original shop they had chosen for the show fell through, and Craig Piligian decided to go to OCC cause it wasn't far from the other shop.

You're right, discovery channel has a big part in their success...and vice versa

Yes Discovery Channel timed that perfect. They caught the front end of the chopper craze. Right about that time was when Jesse James and West COast Choppers and Monster Gargage and the biker build off shows were getting popular. The orginal American Chopper was a one time documentary deal and people loved it so they made it into a show.

I kind of have mixed feelings about the show and the chopper craze in general. I had been invloved with the chopper subculture for awhile before the show came on and have built a few old school choppers myself so it was one of those things where when it became super popular it kind of ruined things a bit for us purists. A lot of these things they are building are against what a chopper is supposed to be about. Many of their bikes are built to be showpieces that will sit in some corporate HQs front lobby. I would even say they are not choppers but rather custom built bikes. If you want to check out REAL choppers check out The Horse Mag, backstreet choppers.

I'm sorry, but I really don't care about bikes that much. I like their showpieces. They make some sweet bikes. Plus, I do like the show.

I wasnt downing you for liking the show, I like it too and watch it when the new episodes come out. I love motorcycles and riding, so to me building a bike to be a showpiece is a shame. Choppers are supposed to be something unique, something to roll out of your garage in the spring after having spent the whole winter wrenching on it. Choppers are supposed to be about innovation and makin due with what you have or can afford. Now any yuppie with $50,000 can go buy some overchromed montrosity and play biker on the weekend. JMO.

From what I have heard the Teutils are tight wads, the guy that was doing the painting prior to Nubs left because O.C.C didn't like to pay their bills, they thought the air time they gave the prior painter was good enough, but air time doesn't pay the bills. I bet the same thing happened with Vinny and Cody. Matter of fact I am pretty sure that was one of the reasons Vinny left, he didn't feel he was getting paid what he deserved. I read a post by him on the official American Chopper message board a couple months back explaining his move. As for how they landed the show in the beginning (which if you ever seen the first episode Vinny wasn't even working there, they had a different guy who you could see was aggravated with the constant bickering between Sr and Jr, he quit and Vinny was brought in since he was a mechanic mostly cars, but was a childhood friend of Jr.) Mikey met the producer of the show at a restaurant he was busing tables for and told the guy about his Father and Brother's work relationship, then when the producer watched them in action he thought they were the right people to create the show with. One thing I will say is if wasn't for Sr being around most of the bikes wouldn't have met their deadlines because of Jr's laziness. Jr has some good ideas but his work ethic is worthless.
