I'm looking at the draft and most offseason moves and I'm wondering. Did the New York Giants just change the entire landscape of the NFL?!

Look at the moves, including Cleveland. Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers, sure they are great run blockers, but when spoken about, they talk about the combined 14 sacks.

Look at guys like Travis LaBoy and Darryl Blackstock who are relative unknowns in the league getting big paydays because theyre considered good pass rushers.

Look at Vernon Gholston going to the Jets because itll almost certainly boosting their pass rush.

Did the NFL just become a PASS RUSH league?!

Personally...I hope so, because with as Quick as DA gets the ball out, a pass rush wont hurt us much.

But I know theres been a premium on pass rushers, but i feel like it just became the biggest thing.

Like NE seemed to make it seem like WRs and shotgun passing was the way to win, and people tried to do that, now its pass rushing.

anyone else notice this or think this?

I also noticed the o-lineman picked earlier then projected.

Did the Joe Thomas addition, that helped the Browns turn around, change the landscape? Maybe not because alot of teams already valued o-line (just not the Browns first 2 coaches Palmer and Davis) I wonder if that was an influence in Parcells decision in Miami. Parcells isnt brought in to help teams win in the long run or down the road. He is brought in for a quick turn around.

It's a copycat league for sure. 3-4 defense, vertical passing, power running, or strong D-lines. The Super Bowl champs are often copied throughout the following postseason.

Heck, look at the Steelers...did they pick a RB and WR because they were the BPA or because the Browns offense is up, the Bengals can always score and Baltimore finally got a QB to build around? Just a thought...

We went from 54 sacks to 19, with 6 of those being in the first game. We went from 4-12 to 10-6 with the addition of 2 OL. I'm sure the Joe Thomas addition influenced a few teams.

I'm assuming you meant to say Williams and Rogers are run stuffers... In any case, since the league has become a passing league, it was inevitable that it would begin to focus on pass rushing.

yes run stuffers! oops.

but, yea the OL thing too. I mean, i think comes from the premium on Pass rushing too, it becomes more important to be able to block these good pass rushers.

I just find it amazing how its turned so much, when just a couple years ago it was all about RBs

A pass rush is a necessity since the NFL has basically neutered DBs. It's no coincidence that WRs fell out of the first round either.
