I know there's a few of you from Erie. There's a small amusement park in Erie, PA called Waldameer and for the past 15 years they've been trying to build a "sequel" to the original Ravine Flyer but have had opposition from a neighboring landowner and zoning issues. This past year they finally got everything approved and it is shaping up to be an awesome ride. Its a wooden coaster built on the top of a bluff. The first drop curves to the bottom and then it goes over an arch bridge over the road. It makes a maneuver and drops down and over the road. Then it makes its way up the bluff where it turns around and banks 90 degrees then dives back down into the ravine before heading back up and to the brakes. Has anyone else head of it and is as excited as I am? It opens on May 17th and I've been planning on going since coaster season ended in October. And Waldameer itself is a great park. They have a good collection of classic flat rides and a good water park. As well as a classic wooden coaster and a spinning coaster. Everything's beautifully landscaped, too. At two hours away, its not too far away and a great alternative to Cedar Point since Geauga Lake closed. Anyone whos never been to waldameer and is within a two hour drive or so should check it out. Its a great small amusement park atmosphere but there is plenty to do for everyone and can easily be an all day thing. I'm going to miss it when I move.
