Anybody constantly getting phone calls from these people? I get phone calls weekly from people like the F.O.P, some State Troopers Coalition, Kids Miracle Network (which I've donated to), some other kids organization, etc. And there's calls everyday which I ignore when I see them on caller ID which I know some of them are these organization as well.

I gave to the one for the kids, but I can't donate everytime these people call. I got a call today (again) from the State Troopers Coaliton, or something along those lines, and was asked for money. When I declined, which I did very nicely, I was rudely hung up on. Now is that neccessary? And that is the same organization that was very rude to my wife a couple months back when she did the same.

I know that is there job to do, but they also have to realize people can't afford to give away money all the time. Not everyone is rich. I don't mind donating once in a while, and I give money everytime I see people at the doors of Wal-Mart like The Salvation Army, etc, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Anybody have issues with these people calling you and even being rude when you decline?

I usually tell them quite frankly "You guys called last month, and when I said I couldn't donate right now, the caller rudely hung up without even saying "Thanks anyway", so take me off your list, as I will NEVER donate to an organization that treat potential donors like that. I need to go now, thanks for your time." Then I hang up.

I get lots of calls from organizations like that also... But I NEVER donate to someone that calls me. Only because it's too easy to sound legit and yet not be. There are a ton of scams out there like that and I refuse to be taken. So I've elected not to donate when solicited.

Now, I have and will continue to support the Hattie Larlham Foundation, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and a few others.. That's where it starts and ends with me.

As for other calls, how about all these political calls from Hillary, McCain and Obama... I'm sick of them...

I don't give them the chance to be rude...I hang up on them before they get the chance. I'll let them go through a bit of their script then tell them I'm not interested and hang up.

Two calls this week for police stuff. No thanks...that's why I pay taxes.

I get them too, the same people,

I always tell them I only donate money to local cherities, Which I only do, if they keep pushing I than tell them i never dontate money over the phone.

If they keep pushing I tell them I explained myself and will not be dontating to thier cause, If they keep pusking I lay down the phone and walk away, Not hanging up.....

There are some I try & turn around the conversation ask them where there from how the weather, just stuied questions to get them off their train of thought, they mostly read a script and once you get them off that it really screws them up, well some of them. I tell them some wied stuff, totally made up heck they dont know, I tld one lady I lived in the house where jeffrey Dolmer grew up in....& I heard voices... I asked her if I should be worried, nothing has moved yet, or apperared as a ghost, but I do feel chilli areas of the house, She didnt know what to say and stumbbled around trying to get back on track but I kept going shzzzz did you hear that.....she got creaped out & hung up never heard from that company again. LOL......

I once ansewed and the lady asked me if my mommie or daddy was home...so I played along and started the old I'm not suppose to talk to strangers on the phone are you a stranger......she said I just need to speak to your parents, I said lady your scaring me.....cause i'm home alone and theres a noise coming out of the basement, I layed down the phone walked away about 5ft and screamed and than said nothing no sound, she finally hung up.....

If the person cannot pronounce my name correctly they do not know who I am, therefore I tell them I'm not interested an hang up.

And calls from the Army, uughghhhhhhh.

I ask them for money before they can get into their spiel.

I also like to ask them what they are wearing, and if they want to know what I'm wearing.

If they're still on the phone at that point I let them know that they've called my cellphone and that they need to remove me from whatever calling list that they have me on.

What really, really ticks me off is when they call old people...........I was at my grandma's yesterday. Phone rang, she answered, listened, then started pushing buttons.

I said "grandma, what are you doing?". Well, they want my credit card number........I grabbed the phone, hung up and said, "grandma, that's why we took your credit card away".

She's 89 and losing her memory fast.......she's already written out checks to the same charity 3 times in one month. Now, she has some money, but when asked why she sent 3 checks in 1 month her reply was "well, it's a good charity, and they kept calling".

I hate phone solicitors.

Kinda reminds me of what I do when I see the Jehovah's Witnesses prowling the neighborhood. If I have time before they get to me (which hasn't been lately prpbaly due to my last door answer) I grab a bottle of Jack, swigging it as I open the door, with cigarette in hand, with Motley Crue's Shout at the devil playing in the background, wearing nothing but an OLD pair of boxer briefs that have more tears and holes than it does fabric. It's usually years before they attempt again.

oh, there's definitely lots of choices on how to scare them away, but not everyone can keep a tricycle in the house by their front door...wait, what?

When they call and identify themselves as a group on behalf of anyone other than the Police or State Police...I do this.

I identify myself as Lt. Bigelow from the Homicide team investigating the murder of whomever they called for. I ask what they know about the victim and that the victim had written the telemarketers name down as someone to meet this week. Before they can bail out and hang up I insist to steaking to their supervisor to check out the telemarketers alibi.

Don't get any more call backs.

If your phone number is unlisted then they can call you all the time. I have a cell phone and so does the wife and our home phone is just for DSL so I don't get the annoying calls. I am on the federal do not call list too and they have all stopped.

I kept getting harassing calls from some POS company's that were looking for the guy that used to have my cell phone number and they would call ALL the time and didn't believe I wasn't him. They would yell at me, say I was lying, be rude, it was unreal. When I would call the numbers back it would be busy always. I entered the phone number in a search engine and saw that it was a common thing with this company and I found out who they were. I called their offices and threatened them and it stopped. After 6+ months

Someone may have shown interest for him. As a teen, I commonly filled out cards requesting more information or to be contacted for all kinds of things.

In my friend's names/addresses....

If an ad came on the television with a 1-800 to "call now because operators are standing by" I was all over it like white on rice.

My dad had a slightly different approach. He would grab is Bible and take the oppurtunity to preach to them about his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

I haven't had them be rude but the one that finally got to me was the telemarketing for the Special Olympics. They called so often, even after I asked them to stop, that I switched the payroll deduction contribution I had going their way to another charity.

Get a unlisted number, and NEVER give out your phone number in stores. I have not had any unwanted calls in years
