My nephew bought me a six pack of Cleveland Browns beer (from Great Lakes Brewery, I think) back in '99 or 2000. My plan is to open it when we win the Super Bowl. Does beer go bad?

Not at my place.

Like that slogan which Subway Sandwiches uses:

"Drink Fresh"

it depends.

I don't think GLB uses preservatives, so yes, it could.

If a preserving agent like formaldahide, which is the preserving agent used in Bud products, it will hold a long time.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I am pretty sure by the time the Browns win a superbowl, you won't want to drink it

but some beers are kept for long periods of time for maturation like whine and whiskey...

See this site, hopefully it'll help... beer advocate

I'll have to check the ingredients. I would imagine if it did that the grain is what could make me ill.

Given that, it may only come out of the fridge for display. My computer room is my Buckeye room. With the age of my kids and the current progress that our club is making, perhaps I could use a bottle to christen one of their bedrooms as my Browns room.

We've got some "Dawg Pound Brew" from when the original Dawg Pound days. I don't think I would go there.

When will this end?

They put formaldahide in beer ? Isn't that a carcinogen and poisoness ?

Beer does go bad...it gets a skunky smell to it.

Formaldahyde is used in embalming dead people. Not sure if it causes cancer or not.

It's also used in some hairsprays.

Not last night.

I did email the brewery and they recommended not to drink it. It looks like it has now become a collectable.
