I'm so mad/confused as to why the hell there r so many articles out right now about tress in a negative light? wtf is goin on? i hate the media... The Real Deal GLENDALE, Ariz. – Whether Jim Tressel is a saint or a snake, as his fans and critics will conversely and passionately contend, remains an unanswered question as he prepares to prove again one undeniable characteristic – winner. A sain or a snake? And there was another one on ESPN...which i can't find now...but i will post it later....

This ticks me off too! I can't think of one big name coach who prays with his team, leaves post-game interviews to be with his and the OTHER team to pray and so on.
He's a special guy.
I think this has been brewing from the Clarret scandel along with his choice not to vote in which he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.
Who cares? Just win Jim. Can't make everyone happy. You are right, they are just jealous.

I'm so mad/confused as to why the hell there r so many articles out right now about tress in a negative light? wtf is goin on? i hate the media... My initial response is to say... not everybody on a national level has a mancrush on Jim Tressell the way most of the folks on here do.... My second response would be to say... his subdued and humble persona has kept him out of the spotlight for a long time, unfortunately his success on the field will not allow it to be like that forever... My third response would be... is there anything in the article that is factually inaccurate? Has he not presided over the scandals referenced? Has he not artfully avoided becoming a casualty of any of them? So why really do you hate the media? For having the audacity to point out some things about Tressel that are less than flattering?

He's a special guy. Jim and Tammy Faye prayed a lot too... I think this has been brewing from the Clarret scandel along with his choice not to vote in which he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. It has been brewing because he has had success and he has had some scandals.. put the two together and you have major news.... When sucky teams have scandals nobody cares so much... Who cares? Just win Jim. Can't make everyone happy. You are right, they are just jealous. Why would the media be jealous? Aren't they the ones that made OSU the preseason favorite and kept them there all year?

Around 4 months ago, on a UK board, a Kentucky fan posted about Tressel leading a prayer group in the old Gym. I can't remember the details, but I don't think it got much pub. He is a strong man of God, and that doesn't make him flawless by any measure, but I think some media types, just try too stir the pot.
Also, my wife attended YSU, when Jim was there, and she said he would walk the campus and talk with the general population about everyday things. He is of high character IMO, and call me what you will. Ill take him over any football coach, that currently walks the earth.

I'm sorry, that line cracked me up... because being the head football coach at Youngstown State University makes you... what? a target for the paparazzi?

has a mancrush on Jim Tressell [color:"white"]Yep. I got a big crush on the guy. A big ol fat Scarlet and Gray romance. Nutswingers? Ouch...a tad harsh, but then [color:"red"] FEAR THE NUT [color:"white"] I don't give a damn what members of the media think. Many were riding their high horses after Coach Haye's gave one to Bauman. I would imagine some of the same now offer praise to his life as a whole. Respect cannot be denied when it's due. [color:"red"] IN TRESSEL WE TRUST

Yep. I got a big crush on the guy. A big ol fat Scarlet and Gray romance. I love the honesty.. you d'man. Many were riding their high horses after Coach Haye's gave one to Bauman. I would imagine some of the same now offer praise to his life as a whole. Respect cannot be denied when it's due. His legacy is being written as we speak... His record will speak for itself. If he gets out of college football without a scandal catching up to him then his legacy will be one of winning.... if one catches up to him, then it will be forever attached to his record as a blemish... that's just the facts of life. There are two angles to take when a coach takes players with sketchy pasts... one is that "he'll do anything to win"... the other is that "he is trying to make a positive impact in the kids life"... either way it's risky and the intentions are often judged by the outcome....

Attempting to mold adults out of kids regardless of their predilection is tough. Of course football is first, but I do believe most coaches including Tress have sincere devotion to the person, so to speak. Many of his players say the right things...as if they "get it". Coach Tressell does come from proven bloodlines. Woody Hayes lived and breathed his philosophy of "paying forward". The book is out on Tress, but he does appear to be the positive role model that many can use. Btw, I had to look up "predilection"...lmao. It was one of those words that I kinda knew, but had to look up spelling and make sure it was what I meant.

So Pete Carroll is a mushy, rah-rah, huggy coach who is one of the most over-exposed personalities (other than Terrell Owens) in the nation. There are shady dealings currently surrounding his program, but do you see the national media all over him and his program? Oh no, they fawn over him like he is a rock star and anything that drops out of his anus smells like lilacs. So why the big difference between their approaches towards Carroll and Tressell, and USC and OSU? Location, location, location.

His legacy is being written as we speak And i don't think he deserves a "saint or snake" article in that leagacy......look at other college football programs around the country and find me 1 single program that doesn't have players who F up every year.... Lets blame the coach cuz 2 players out of 100 did something illegal... This is just the media trying to come up with "new" stories...it just makes me sick that they have to stoop to this level....it's not just about tress either...they do this to everyone.even players......TO....Clarett......what about IVERSON?! oh yah is the biggest cancer of them all you get my point don't ya? sure they aren't perfect players but COME ONNN....stop looking at the negatives all the time.... Sorry if i sound mad...it's not towards you...

why the hell there r so many articles out right now about tress in a negative light? I think all in all there arent to many(how could there be?) I mean you have found a couple but if you think of all the thousands of articles written about Tress the negatives are far and few between. Theres always going to be writers who want to stand out from the pack so they feel they have to write something different than what the majority say. then there are also just the haters. The guys on top right now and he has done it in a way that the university and fans can be proud of so the haters have to try to slant things in a negative way. KING

the press has beaten everything they possibly could into the ground with the 30+ days we've known this is the matchup. they have to just create/digg up useless crap just so they can keep putting out stuff to read about this.

And in this case,so does DC and Jaft. Sort of like I do with Notre Dame. It's really nothing personal. Just like to get the blood boiling a tad.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think what he's referring to was his demeanor. He was not aloof, he's approachable and would talk to anyone about anything.
I went to YSU at that time too, and he had tremendous respect from players, students, et. al., and it's disheartening to see him get negative press. Deserved as it may or may not be.
To me, Tressel is a college coach through and through. He gets the most out of the least and demands the best out of his players.
