Finished several spots above expectations, had a winning season and easily beat Purdue in a bowl game.. I'm happy with the Terps season... The fact that they weren't in the national picture, or as good as OSU, has nothing to do with me giving my objective opinion on other conferences and other teams...

well Michigan got dismantled by the best team in the Pac 10 and OSU got dismantled by the best team in the SEC... and the Big 10 overall in bowl games was 2-5......

So Michigan getting beat up by a PAC 10 team makes the SEC stronger?? When SEC went head to head with BIG 10 they lost 2 out of 3. Comparing what they did against other conferences is comparing apples to oranges.

It was humiliating and depressing. For the first time ever I'm looking forward to not watching football for a long time. I'm not even sure the offseason is enough time this year.....

Well I think Troy Smith should give back the Heisman Trophy. Jim Tressell should resign as Buckeyes HC and the Ohio State Buckeyes were very much over rated this year. So we beat some weak teams, I know we beat Michigan but just barely.

Florida was just too fast for us and they were much hungrier than the OSU team was. I don't even think Ginn would have made any difference if he would have played the whole game. Troy never had much time to set his feet anyways.

We sucked, We lost, and it was deserving from the effort that was put on the field.

Despite all of the OSU trash talking and the media worship of OSU, the Gators came out on top (and I mean top). For some reason I'm not surprised the Gators responded the way they did. Congrats Gators fans.

I know this is crazy, but I agree Tressel should quit or be fired. I love him like everyone else, but did this team watch film? Did they prepare AT ALL or did they spend their 51 days playing Xbox? What a shameful display. It was worse than watching the Browns.

I thought Tressel was a better motivator and coach than he showed tonight. That was pitiful and I'm going to try not to think about it.

Congratulations, Ballpeen and all Gator fans. Your team played like Champions last night, while my team played like ... well, the Browns.

Hmm, I wonder if Terry Robiskie was in the stands last night, or on the sidelines, watching his son ... NAH! ... just kidding.

The Gators outclassed the Buckeyes in every phase except the opening kickoff.

Ya congrats Ballpeen, and others, We did get to enjoy the first 5 seconds of the game, it was the other 59 minutes 55 seconds that set us back alittle..

Well I wish somebody would come up with something so I could use it as a excuse as to why they outplayed us by so much in this game.

You asked for an excuse and I gave you one.

If you choose not to use that one, fine.

Look for another if it makes you feel better.

Maybe it is because the Big 10 insists on finishing their schedule the week before Thanksgiving while other teams still have tough regular season games and conference championships to play?

But in the end, there is no excuse. This wasn't some fluke. Flukes are won by a few points, turning on crazy plays, or teams playing a style way out of their league.

The Gators played the way they did all year. Controlled passing, effective running, a few gadget plays mixed in(not that many last night) and a D that pretty much smothered everybody they played. A front 4 who can regularly beat the other teams front 5, DB's who can play tight cover D and active backers who can swarm to the ball.

That is what I saw out of the Gators all year.

And now you have too.

Congratulations to Florida. The Buckeyes were outplayed, outprepared, and outclassed last night. I never thought I would say that about a Jim Tressel team. It just shows that no one in the game is perfect. I take nothing away from the Gators. It was their night. I also take nothing away from the Buckeyes. They had an outstanding season. They beat two teams ranked #2 in the nation and played a poor game last night. Mental errors killed them more than anything....that and a lack of adjustment. Ohio State just didn't play well and Florida did. Congratulations to Florida.....just don't forget that without OSU and Ohio, you wouldn't have that coach.

I wouldn't say the Bucks were outclassed. OSU is all class.

Outplayed?.....no question....out prepared??...maybe

I'm not so sure about that, 'Peen. Your Gators look good and Ohio St. looks like Carthon is calling all the shots on both sides of the ball!

I'm doubting Ginn comes back.

And oh yeah, I had forgotten that college games last 92 years. 2 hours just for the first freakin' half? Christ!

OSU looked like Cleveland

Once Florida started fast,OSU got back on it's heels.. they came out and did all the things they do..they overloaded one side with 3 receivers and brought one in the soft zone areas
OSU never ADJUSTED..thats the biggest thing, they NEVER adjusted on defense..it's almost like they were afraid to do something different..
OSU never TRIED to establish their running game.
No screens no draws..nothing..no throws to the TE?
On the one series that they made Florida punt in the third, Tressell called 3 straight pass plays..horrible play calling.
OSU's offensive line was confused in their blocking assignments..no adjustment
Florida QB comes in just to run the ball, OSU hardly stopped him,
They looked like they were overwhelmed..I think they were overconfident

THUD THUD THUD!!!!!

That is the sound of a few overconfident Buckeye fans jumping off the OSU bandwagon. They have come crashing to earth and now discuss firing the HC after a single bowl loss.

Outplayed? Yes...Outmotivated? Yes... Outcoached? Maybe....
but to consider firing Tressel after one disappointing loss points to another great team is foolish.

Which side of the fence you sit on on the "Fire Romeo" issue? Just curious.

That being said, the gameplan still sucked. The funny thing is, it was Tressel Ball on defense, and the lack of Tressel Ball on offense that ultimately killed us.

Too conservative on D, not conservative enough on O and the lack of QB run plays. I love aggressive offense, but when you have a good running game, how can you NOT use it?

EDIT: The middle was open ALL night and I don't think I saw one crossing route, it was visible when they used the skycam.

Still, with Ginn out we were stuck with Gonzo (good receiver but merely a #3 in NFL terms) and Robiskie (most overrated player).

OSU is USUALLY all class. The two personal fouls on the kickoff, and then running their mouth after the second, was not class. It is not typical OSU, thankfully, but there were some classless moments (I won't go into some things I know of straight from the people involved.....I just know a couple of current OSU players and one that ended his career due to injury).

Outplayed is obvious and IMO so is outprepared. There were NO defensive adjustments whatsoever. There were serious coaching mistakes in the game. I have never said that about a Jim Tressel team and hope to never have to again. Every coach has a game like that at some point in their career. Coach had his last night. He is still a great coach and has a great program. Last night, the wheels fell off against a great defense and gimmick offense (no offense intended).

None taken on the gimmick comment....it is a gimmick system....funny thing is we didn't even run some of our better plays.

The time Tressell decided to go for it had me wondering...but they only had a yard to go.....but still, that call has to go down as a goof.

Maybe he knew he was losing the emotional battle and felt he had to do something to rally the troops?? You held us to a FG on that call....so it could have.....it just didn't.

The Bucks had their chances to gain emotional control of the game, but everytime they punched us in the face with a hard right, we managed to counter with a combination right to the belly, left hook to the jaw.

I wasn't feeling very well after Ginn returned the opening kick-off. Those can kill a team....but we marched right down in easy fashion to score, then swamped the Bucks with the D......to be honest, I felt we were going to win right there....or maybe I should say I knew we could match you on the field...and when I know that, knowing how good my team really was, I felt we would win.

About going for it on 4th down, I could have sworn Ohio State had gotten it by about an inch.

I still thought it was a dumb move, but no one in the bar thought it was a turnover on downs.

But in all seriousness, it looked like Wells got the football across the yellow line before he was down. I know I wasn't the only one who thought that way.

I was sober and sitting right in front of my television and I was pretty sure he was short. It looked to me like his helmet was on the line, which means the ball was not since it wasn't extended.

I will say that Florida got a couple real "nice" spots in the first half...

I didnt want to go there because it would seem like sour grapes and really had nothing to do with why we lost the game but it did seem like Florida got some nice spots. I also thought the spot on the 4th down stop was short too. the ref spotted it and then as he ran down the line he looked like he was a drunk taking a sobritety test.

Unfortunately the refs were right on with the personal foul calls and those really killed us and put us in a hole.

I agree. Hockey is a great way to pass the time.

I wish we had a minor league team here....I would probably go to 20 games a year.

Hey congrats Peen. Enjoy it.

Here's what bothered and scared me before the game. When Urban Meyer was asked how they handled the long lay off, his answer was interesting. He said they were very strong believers in routine. They told their kids it wasn't 20 practices until the game, but instead 3 game weeks. He said this kept their attention, and they went through each game week and did everything as normal except play the game.

When Tressel was asked the same question, he said something about having a good mix of work and fun. It can't be all work and no play. WHAAT????

Also, Florida exploited OSU's weakness in every facet of the game, while OSU made absolutely zero adjustments. They were outplayed and outcoached. But hey, JT can't win ALL the big games.

Congrats again to Peen and Florida. And I take solace that Urban Meyer is from Ohio. I'm happy for him.

To be honest ... as soon as the Gators scored on that next possession, I felt the game was pretty much over. As soon as Tressel went for fourth and short in the third quarter and failed ... then I was certain the game was over.

My Dad (an avid BSU fan), was saying that some writer and Boise had pointed out that BSU actually had a tougher strength of schedule than Ohio State. Maybe we should of seen this coming ... oh wait, I sort of *did* see this coming.

I am not going to make much deal about the SEC and Big 10.....but the SEC schedule this year was a pretty good test.
Somehow we managed to win ugly.....against 4-5 pretty darn good teams. Even the crap teams of the league are better than your average crap team.

Somehow in the end, that is always going to make you better.

You know the funny thing is as a Buckeye fan either was I . I was scared that after that kick off return that the Buckeye players would feel like " oh this IS going to be a cakewalk". I wasnt on the sidelines so I cant say what was going on in players heads but what happened is exactly what I was afraid of. I dont think BEFORE the game OSU players took FLorida lightly at all. No way would Tress allow that but once that kickoff happened the players figured the hype must have been right. Instead of playing their ass off and keeping Florida down they went out and did stupid things to give the Gators short fields to work with and put us in a hole.
