Hard to find electronics items used to be limited to Radio Shack, but now you can find anything and I mean anything at most other electronics places nowadays.

I went with BestBuy out of the big2 of them and Circuit City based on how they treated me day before yesterday with a satellite radio installation. I've had Sirius radio for nearly 2 years now, and it worked great and fit well with the user basic install in my Jeep Cherokee. When I got a Dodge Stratus, I couldn't find anywhere to mount it AND it wouldn't receive over any open FM channels because the radio in the Stratus is so good.

I went to ask about a hard-wire install, figuring on getting an appointment in 2-3 weeks. The guy told me to come back in an hour and a half and he would do it. Went store browsing while he worked on it, and when I returned he was just finishing up.......and the radio was not where I ASSumed he would place it. He told me that he would take it out and re-do it at no extra charge. An hour later it was done, and it was a great job.

I went with Best Buy. I cant believe how the Big2 is 2 of the same store but yet you get way better treatment at Best Buy. The people at the Circut City by me are stuck up and get pissy when you ask them a question, like i should already know. I have had friends actually take there time to write the management of Circuit City to tell them that they didnt like how they were treated.

One time I was buying a phone at Circuit City.I needed a phone that had a ringer on/off option because the phone in my room would always ring when I was sleeping and didnt have the option. I didnt need help but one guy asked me if I needed it. I didnt, but since he asked, I asked if a certain phone had the option. He laughed and said "why wouldnt it?" I told him why I asked and he replied "Well, I think it does but I'll check anyways" acting like I was making him go out of his way. Well, the phone didnt have the option, which is why I looked as long as I did and he went thru 3 of the cheaper phones until we found one.

Best Buy has always had friendly service, better sells, and better 'in store brands' which is why I go there. I would spend a few dollars more for better service.

Wal Mart might be an option for some people.

Out of the Big2, as far as CDs go, one is cheaper for new CDs while the other is cheaper for older CDs. I forget which is which.

I went Best Buy for 2 reasons.

One is I like their low, no haggle. pricing. I hate going to places like CC or HHgregg and havin to negotiate a price with leisure suit Larry.

Second, Best Buys customer service is always outstanding. There have ben many times I have went into Best Buy just to eyeball something I was thinking of buying and have the guy answer all my questions for 15 minutes, knowing that I was going to buy it from the internet.

I picked "Other." Actually, if there was a "none of the above," I would have chosen that one. I generally know what I want, do my research on-line and I can almost ALWAYS find a better deal on the Internet than I can going into a retail shop. This isn't necessarily a slam against these stores, I just don't find them to be all that helpful.

If I'm buying higher end stuff, I always go to Circuit City. I seem to get a lower price, I like some of their products they carry better than BB, and you can get them to drop the price some as well. I've bought my 3 TVs from there as well as my home theater system.

I usually shop at Best Buy, though, because I'm not typically shopping for TVs, stereos, speakers, etc. I'll go there looking for a phone, movies, games, etc.

I chose "Other."

I never buy from those stores. I do all my shopping on-line. I research the hell out of it and then research the stores. I have found several good outlets to buy from and I save a ton of money on all of my electronic equipment. And believe me.....I have a lot of it.

I'm surprised by all of the pro-Best Buy and anti-Circuit City responses since I've always had the opposite experience with each. I like Circuit City better. Prices are the same (and if they are not, you can get them to match), I've always found the sales people more helpful (seems like Best Buy employs only high schoolers), and I've always found the stores cleaner and less 'hectic' feeling.

But I don't think Best Buy is bad, and I'll pretty much shop where the best price is.

We have a store out here called RCWilley. It's a furniture, appliance, and electronics store. Too many sales men, but they are knowledgable and also have great prices. But the best thing about them is they give cash back. I recently purchased a home and bought several thousand dollars worth of appliances and electronics from them, and I received a nice fat $400 cash back card that I used to buy another TV with. Pretty sweet.

So I guess I'm an 'Other'.

It depends on what I'm looking for. Best Buy is one of my favorite stores because I'm continually impressed by their selection and staff. However, today when I needed a specific cable, I went to Radio Shack first because I felt more confident that they would get me the specific cable that I needed. If I'm buying something like a CD, DVD, or smaller appliance I go to Best Buy. If I'm buying a television or something, I go to Circuit City. If I need a cable or something like that, I go to Radio Shack.

If you want to find a lot of things under the sun.. and I do mean anything.. Fry's Electronics.. though you would have to drive to indiana or chicago to find one or california. but the customer service can be questionable at times.. but normally they are gigantic stores which you could probably fit 2 best buys into..

I bought most of my speakers for my home theater from Frys website, outpost.com. Even though they don't have any stores in Ohio, their warehouse is actually in Ohio...

I was looking for a laptop a while back. (My current laptop)

I went to Best Buy and found one I liked ..... them went to Circuit City and found on I liked just a little more.

The only one they had available was the floor model. They would "graciously" allow me to purchase the floor model for full price. They told me that they would be doing me a favor allowing me to buy the one that had been on display.

I went back to Best Buy and bought this one instead.

I haven't been back to Circuit City since, and really have had no desire to shop there at all.

Circuit City bites it for customer service. At least one of them in Columbus does and they ruined it for the rest of the stores. And their Corporate Office doesn't give a damn that the stores don't treat their customers right.

Best Buy, on the other hand, has always been helpful to me.

However, the more I think about it, I buy more online than anywhere else. My hubby bought his pc online, I bought my extra Sirius car kit online, my last couple DVD players (gotta have a DVD for each tv).

After online and Best Buy would be Wal Mart. I HATE shopping at Wally World, but they have good prices on electronics, if you're not looking for something fancy.

Go to your local warehouse store and negotiate a price. ABC Warehouse is what I use around here, and I have gotten everything at near cost. I recently bought a 46" Sony XBR for $2299. That is cheaper than you can buy it refurbished online.

Find a sales person you like and stick with him. I buy everything from ABC now. I just bought a brand new HE washer and dryer set as well, only spent $1000 on a great whirlpool set and got 12 months same as cash to boot!!

Other for me. We get all of our stuff from a local place called Fowler's. Great service and prices there. That is where we got our projector/theatre system. Free installation and everything. We've never had any problems with it.
