When I was into comics, when I was 12, I used to like and collect Image, Valiant, and Dark Horse comics.

Not asking so much about the actual comics per se, but the charactors from, comics/cartoons/tv shows/movies. As far as the actual comics, I don't think I have ever read one.

Wheres the "I am a superhero" option? On a more serious note. Marvel Hands down. DC has some good characters but Marvel is ten times better imo. I used to read Marvel comic books when I was little like it was going out of tyle. Even collected some of the cards. Hell I still have every single comic I ever bought packed away somewhere.

I never read comics, although I hear they should be taught in high school lit. I do love super heroes in movies. Not a fan of Wonder Woman or Superman. I tend to like super heroes like Batman, Iron Man, The Punisher and the like. Most of them have no special powers but use technology and knowledge. I find them more believable then space aliens. The exception would be Spiderman. He's just cool. Ditto to the Flash.

I put a can't decide...not because I don't know which are which because I do.....but because I have an affinity for both. My first experience tho was with Marvel.....My first favorite superheroes were the Mighty Thor and Ironman (Which is why I really like the fact that they did this movie as ever since I got back to the states(late 70's) it seems that he is/was a forgotten superhero. And hey I was into the Avengers before Superfriends were exposed to me....but DC has some Great stories and they have some Darker stories that really help them along as well....
Frankly I never got into the Marvel vs DC thing........I saw Batman...I saw Wolverine, I saw Supeman and The Amazing Spiderman....I never saw Marvel or DC....and I never had an alegiance except to the characters themselves.
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????

I was always a Marvel man. I haven't collected comic books in about a decade, but I still have my entire collection. Fantastic Four was my favorite, I own every issue from 195 - 418 of volume 1; all 13 issues of volume 2; and the first 56 issues of volume 3.
I also have a large collection of Spiderman, X-Men and the Avengers. The only other comic book I collected regularly was Dark Horse's "Star Wars".

Totally agree.
I voted Marvel since most of my favs were Spider-man, X-men, the Avengers & Fantastic Four (and that doesn't include all the great villians Marvel had too). With that being said, I really like Superman and Batman.
I won't discuss my opinions on each super hero, that's not what this thread is about (I could easily discuss Spider-man vs. Superman for hours - and debate both sides too).

Plus..Batman is human with zero superpowers and deals with "realistic" crime. (aside from the idiot characters like Clayface...I think Batman Begins did a brilliant take on Ra's al Ghul by not even mentioning the stupid Lazerus Pit)

How does that make him the most complex though?
His parents were killed in front of him when he was a kid. I'm not making light of it but....what else?
Spider-man lost his parents when he was young and was raised as a fraile, weak, nerdy kid by his Aunt and Uncle. Upon receiving his powers, he causes his own uncles murder (in a way). His first girlfriend post-spidey powers was murdered by being thrown off the Brooklyn Bridge by the Green Goblin. He later found out he was the clone of the real Spider-man (or so I think - that storyline was so messed up).
The term "dark" gets thrown around too much for Batman. I don't find him too complex and/or creepy. It's not to say I don't like him, he's probably my 4th or 5th favorite super hero of all time.
I think most comic book readers identified with Spidey more than Batman and Superman (the Big Three). Like I said above, he was a nerdy, weak, a teenager that lived in a real US city, couldn't get a girl to notice him, had no money, wasn't good looking or the captain of his football and his powers came to him by luck. Other than the powers, that describes a huge portion of the male teenagers then and now. Batman was tall, good looking, rich, motivated to be something from a kid and Superman was a freaking alien (also tall, good looking and perfect in every other way)!

Without Kryptonite being involved, Superman hands down.
However, there were actual comics that were printed on the very subject..

I was a big fan of Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes when I was a kid.
I still have some 12, 15 and 20 cent books around ...... and still read them once in a while too. They sure bring back memories.

The thing about Superman is he's TOO powerful.
I mean seriously...his only flaw is kryptonite, some made up toxin.
Plus his personality is that of a boy scout's...Batman's "shades of grey" personality is much more enjoyable.
JMHO, however.

That is not entirely acurate.
'Kryptonite' discovered in mine
Kryptonite is no longer just the stuff of fiction feared by caped superheroes. A new mineral matching its unique chemistry - as described in the film Superman Returns - has been identified in a mine in Serbia.
According to movie and comic-book storylines, kryptonite is supposed to sap Superman's powers whenever he is exposed to its large green crystals.
The real mineral is white and harmless, says Dr Chris Stanley, a mineralogist at London's Natural History Museum.
"I'm afraid it's not green and it doesn't glow either - although it will react to ultraviolet light by fluorescing a pinkish-orange," he told BBC News.
Rock heist
Researchers from mining group Rio Tinto discovered the unusual mineral and enlisted the help of Dr Stanley when they could not match it with anything known previously to science.
Once the London expert had unravelled the mineral's chemical make-up, he was shocked to discover this formula was already referenced in the literature - albeit literary fiction.
"Towards the end of my research I searched the web using the mineral's chemical formula - sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide - and was amazed to discover that same scientific name, written on a case of rock containing kryptonite stolen by Lex Luthor from a museum in the film Superman Returns.
"The new mineral does not contain fluorine (which it does in the film) and is white rather than green but, in all other respects, the chemistry matches that for the rock containing kryptonite."
The mineral is relatively hard but is very small grained. Each individual crystal is less than five microns (millionths of a metre) across.
Elementary clash
Identifying its atomic structure required sophisticated analytical facilities at Canada's National Research Council and the assistance and expertise of its researchers, Dr Pamela Whitfield and Dr Yvon Le Page.
"'Knowing a material's crystal structure means scientists can calculate other physical properties of the material, such as its elasticity or thermochemical properties," explained Dr Le Page.
"Being able to analyse all the properties of a mineral, both chemical and physical, brings us closer to confirming that it is indeed unique."
Finding out that the chemical composition of a material was an exact match to an invented formula for the fictitious kryptonite "was the coincidence of a lifetime," he added.
The mineral cannot be called kryptonite under international nomenclature rules because it has nothing to do with krypton - a real element in the Periodic Table that takes the form of a gas.
Power possibilities
Instead, it will be formally named jadarite when it is described in the European Journal of Mineralogy later this year.
Jadar is the name of the place where the Serbian mine is located.
Dr Stanley said that if deposits occurred in sufficient quantity it could have some commercial value.
It contains boron and lithium - two valuable elements with many applications, he explained.
"Borosilicate glasses are used to encapsulate processed radioactive waste, and lithium is used in batteries and in the pharmaceutical industry."

I love the show 'Smallville'.

1. I love the Superman mythos.

I dunno, it's just hard for me to get into the whole superhero thing, stuff like Justice League just doesn't do it for me.
Batman is human, uses technology to protect himself, and isn't "completely good" (no human is). Plus he has my all-time favorite romantic storyline, between him and Catwoman.

Ummmmmmmm no....actually he isn't......He doesn't play well with others......But when they need help.....and they will....he will be there....LOL......Hey his words....not mine...LOL
Just a little note concerning Superman and his Boy Scout personality.
You know I think it is this boy Scout Personality that makes him the greatest of the Superheroes. It is what makes him Super - Man or what Man should aspire to be. I mean Superman has all the powers in the world. He could with little effort rule the earth on a whim. but he doesn't. All this power and he has the wisdom, knowledge and sense of responsibility of how to use it. And yes he has the several weaknesses....Red Sun, Kryptonite, Doomsday........but it is his Boy Scout attitude that leads him to face these things regardless of what may happen to him. In the more modern comics and cartoons.....Superman is pretty imperveous to most things. But in comparison to his earlier renditions, Superman faces a lot more physical pain if not physical scarring. Yet he continues to fight on.
It is that Boy Scout Presonality that makes him the ultimate, the pinnacle of superhero. It might seem a little too sweet on the surface, but when you really look at the substance......It turns out that the Boy Scout Personality is the Greatest Power that Superman posesses.
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

Actually, He also needs to have our Yellow Sun to replenish his power. I believe the last Marvel vs DC, him and the hulk fought and they were pretty much even and Superman even told himself that he needed to immobilize the Hulk soon because as the fight went on the Hulk was getting stronger while he was losing energy.
Then he was able to drop an entire mountain on the Hulk, knocking him out and turning him back into Bruce, IIRC.
