Well, I work at a lumber yard and we sell a truckload of firewood for $25 or $30. This is mostly just scrap wood that can't be used and not actual logs or split logs. Not sure what is a good price for firewood other wise.

Well you need to stack it once it is split. A cord of wood is 4'x4'x8' and if its oak will fetch about $150 in Virginia, if it is aged. If its pine forget selling it. Just give it away.

I paid $140 per cord - delivered - last October. It was aged, good firewood. Cut from "tops", meaning it was the tops of trees that lumber yards don't want. Still decent sized logs for a woodburner, and it was several types of wood, not just oak.

Pine needs to be cut, split, and aged quite a while. If it's not split, it isn't a wood I would use in a wood burner, or a fireplace.

Pine is ok if you dont pay for it. Just burns way to fast. Oak and poplar are good fire woods.

Pine really isn't a good fire wood because it gives off a really nasty resin that can cause serious damage to chimneys.

Correct. Unless it is super dry it's hard to get it burning hot enough....end result, creosote buildup. And that's a bad thing.

Exactly. Pine is wonderful for an outdoor pit fire.

I like the smell of certain woods when burning. Cherry is a nice smell and so is a nice cedar fire.
