Yes, often times we complain about too much going on in our lives...when we have no clue how bad it is for others!
Go travel overseas...and see how it is in many other courtries...you may get a serious wake-up call!
We live in a pretty damn good country, that is a fact!

a) do not have kids
b) have kids, but thier kids are younger and have not been through college
Well I don't follow Ammo around, but I have a 23 year old son (who went through five years of college, and a 22 year old daughter who has been though 4 almost 5 years of college, and may be going back for more. I judge Ammo only from what I read on the board (since thats all I know)
I won't get into the normal guy stuff with you since there is really no such thing (we are all different) but I can tell you I went through the kind of stuff Ammo did when I was in my early teens.
As far as how I feel about the kid. I think he already knows
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

My God. Why can't people just leave the kid alone? If you don't like who he is or what he does, simply don't reply to him. It's really, REALLY simple. I'm tired of watching everyone attack him. And the funny part is the attackers aren't and weren't perfect little angels, either.
So, let's move on with our lives, eh?

If someone wants to come on here and post about whatever - they open themselves up to the opinions of others. That's pretty simple to understand, is it not?

Patrick Willis and Lofo Tatupu are two of the best ILB's on the game and are both rated over 95 on Madden this year if you want to use that as a scale. But that is completely irrelevent.
I think that Ammo gets more hate on here than he deserves. I have never heard him say anything about driving under the influence as he has been accused of. He has said some stupid things that he deserves to get ripped for and has more than enough.
He got a lot of hate in his 21st birthday thread. He mentioned nothing in that thread that most teenagers his age don't do. And quite a few of them are much worst than him.
There are very few people on here who can say that they have never been extremely drunk, drank before they were legally able to, and done very stupid things. I could quite possibly be much worst than Ammo is when I get to his age and I know of kids who are a lot worst than he is, and younger.
Thanks DeepThreat...I was your age once. I didn't drink. Not a drop. If anything my problem was I was "too uptight about that stuff."
College changes things. It's your time to find yourself, enjoy your friends, don't be careless but don't be too careful. Work hard but play hard too. You have more freedom than you ever imagined, just don't abuse it. I've seen a lot of people waste their lives away and I've seen a lot of people who have yet to live theirs because they live in a self-made cave. It's all about finding the balance.
within college or as an entire whole?
My best friend Mike didn't drink at all until he turned 21. The day he turned 21 and to the present he's learned to love his alcohol. He's able to drink a lot without: 1) getting a DUI 2) getting into a fight in real life 3) getting into a fight on message boards
But he's a big dude--6'1 and 230--so he can absorb a lot of alcohol and not have it affect him. He went to our rival school, Chardon, and is a little bit older than Ammo. He didn't play football for them but his brother is their current kicker.
It's all about maintaining self-control. I drink a little bit but it's not worth it to me to go all out. I never did in HS or college and as I look back maybe I should've drunk more--it would've made me more social and I would've gotten the girls. That's one of the few regrets I have about high school and college.

So true about his writing. It's hard to find a gsp error in it. Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation for you writers/journalists/PR people here. He is probably very intelligent grade-wise and I'd venture his IQ is above 125.
If I can write a sentence without a spelling error, I'd be happy. For the longest time I would write everything in Word Perfect so I could catch all my mistakes. After a whileI stopped, since it was obvious to everyone I was a dumbass, whether my spelling was correct.
I know you worked for a newspaper in the past. Are you still following that career path?
<rant> P yes I am. Low pay and a four-year degree, which is basically worthless. I f'ed up bigtime...my original career fields were... 1) Automotive Design. I used to draw engines, interiors, exteriors when I was in high school at lunch. Nobody in my age group would talk to me but the teachers were interested in my drawings/designs. I almost went to Cleveland Institute of Art. 2) Mechanical Engineering. Almost went to Cleve. St. for a BS in Mech Engineering but found out my math skills were crappy. I have a photographic memory but I can't put it into good use for engineering concepts. I got As and Bs in math/science through memorization. 3) History. Wanted to be a history teacher like Rosati but found out that I'm not good at controlling a class. 4) Architecture--took a drafting class and got a C, which sucks because I loved drawing blue prints as a little kid. 5) Writing. I've always been *fairly* good at writing. My idealism took me to Kent State Journalism and Mass Comm. Passed with a B because I didn't try hard enough because I didn't want to deal with the cliques at the school newspaper. I didn't research the low-pay issue until too late and bought into the naivete of 'you're a journalist, you can defend democracy.' Not really. I'm one of those willing to trade news freedom and values for personal security and a middle-class lifestyle. I'm not an agressive person. I don't have the journalist personality. But I'm here because I'm not sure where I want to go in real life. Thanks for listening. </rant>

Basically, she's telling you to shut up.
This was a thread started about Ammo's roommate moving out. There are other things to talk about than Ammo's lifestyle in this thread, as the title of the thread states. It's happened in other threads. Should she just not open any of them?
It's basically like getting into your next door neighbor's business. If it doesn't affect you, you need not worry about it.

So what you're saying is since this doesn't affect you, you are going to shut up?
This isn't about ammo now. This is about posting on a message board. If you don't like how it works, you are free to speak your mind, just as I am, OR you are free to not read it. But don't tell me to shut up unless you are going to shut up as well. Interesting how that works, isn't it?

C'mon 017.....Telling somebody to shut up is a little uncalled for. It's a message board and there are hundreds of threads on DT to read, some may choose to look at this one and respond while still some others have probably skipped this one all together. I'm not choosing sides between you and arch...jmho. Have a good night guys

In my opinion it's not about choosing sides between me and 17....it's about him/her telling me to shut up.
See, we all have our own opinions. I disagree with many people, and I agree with many. I've never told anyone to shut up, and I never will - at least not on a message board.
I find it ironic that when a person posts asking for advice, and then gets it, that all of a sudden some people that are giving advice are the "bad" guys. Sad.

Yes and if you read my post I said "C'mon 017.....Telling somebody to shut up is a little uncalled for."
Choosing sides really had nothing to do with it as it was just a few words at the end of my post. 017 is ok with me just as you are....carry on then.

I didn't tell him to shut up, was just reading between the lines in her post. I stayed out of the thread once I saw where it started to go until I read the last page. And since it's a message board and I'm free to speak my mind, as he said, I will say that I think a lot of people on here are pathetic. The kid does the same stuff as pretty much anyone his age. So what? Arch has his own kids. Just try being their father. Ammo doesn't need a second one. I have no problems with discussing things on a message board. But some people's agendas are questionable. The guy is talking about money owed to him. But arch keeps going on about him drinking, and his cell phone. Ammo spent his money on those, that was his choice. Regardless if he drinks water all day or goes to the bar, someone still owes him money. I don't care what kind of phone he has, what kind of car he drives, how much money is in his bank, or how much his mommy and daddy have. The point is someone screwed him out of his money. It's just stupid. I should have stayed out of the thread ..... I'm not trying to get into a peeing match, Babe. Just tired of people jumping on others for crap that is all just stupid and juvenile. But I did like that pic. Arch- yeah, I'll shut up. I put in my 2 cents.

Nice post - I won't quote it all so as to save space.
Don't know if I was one of the people you were talking about, but I will say I have a 7 (almost 8) yr. old daughter, and a 20 yr. old son that is in college.
I have a clue about college age males. And, believe it or not, I was one myself a few years ago. (started college in 87 and graduated in 91).
I want my son to have fun in college. He knows there is fun, but there is also work. If ammo was my son............well, let's just say he can be glad he's not my son.
Bottom line is I know what "normal" college kids do, and I know what ammo says he does. There is a difference.
Here's the thing Arch, I respect you and your opinion. From what I read on here, you are a sharp guy. What I hate though, is how you have to throw in the "well let's just say he can be glad he's not my son." I just don't get that. To me, that is condescending. You don't know the kid other than a freakin message board, and knowing someone on a message board does not mean much to me as to how a person really is in real life (IMO).
I just can't see making that kind of comment from not knowing someone on a personal level........

You know someone according to how they present themselves. If they are different on a message board then how they are in person, then it's their own fault if others perceive them differently than they truely are.
persona: (in the psychology of C. G. Jung) the mask or façade presented to satisfy the demands of the situation or the environment and not representing the inner personality of the individual; the public personality.
Each of us is responsible for how we paint ourselves online. The best approach I believe, which I use myself, is to be the same individual online as in person. If you ever meet me you will find me the same person you know from the board. I may not look as you had pictured me in your minds eye, but I will be the same personality you have come to know. I don't feel any of my needs would be met by trying to appear anything other than who I am.
If there is a marked difference in one's message board persona and their real-life personality then one should expect issues to arise. Although an altered message board persona is not really lying, it is like lying in that it's hard to maintain a solid line since one is not really like that but only pretending to be. It's not based on truth so a constant manipulating must be accomplished to keep the persona on an even keel.
It becomes most evident when previously dogmatic statements are retracted when faced with public outcry. It is then that one has to backstep, change stance and become more like their real selves. Or, if they were being their real selves in the beginning but cannot comfortably face the opposition, they may have to revert to a different persona in an attempt to fit in. Either way it's a tangled web to escape.
Be yourself.

How much of yourself can you be on a message board?
You painted a very black and white picture of something that's not so black and white.
I agree to an extent that how someone presents themselves on a message board could provide some insight into who that person is, but not totally.
Again, it's not that black and white.

I do think it's laughable how people can make total assumptions through a message board.
Another thing that makes me laugh is how others forget about when they were young. I was at a grad party last night for one of my brother's friends and was hanging out with some of the parents, and they were having more than a few brews. The stories they traded about their past sounded no different than the stories I have.
-"That was my favorite bar, I remember my employer was paying for my education, those first few days we'd go to that bar every night and I had an 8 AM class and we'd stumble in the next day, it was brutal."
-"Remember when you used to have that property and you had Hairy Buffalo parties with 2 bands and 400 people? Those were the days."
-"Remember the panty raids?" (something I've never taken part in)
There's more, but long story short, these are normal, upstanding adults who have grown out of their college and early to mid 20's days and they're perfectly ok now.
I guess I'm expected to be in my 40's before I'm even 25.

It's not how much insight you can provide into who you are, but more into who you are not if you're creating a false personna.
And Ammo, just keep being yourself and ignore the old timers who will crawl out of the woodwork to "school" you. I've read through many of your threads. Although you've brought up things publicly on the board that I would never dream of, well, that's just the difference between me and you. It doesn't make me right or you wrong for our individuality.
There are people your age who are much less mature than you. There are also those much more so. To be compared to the best of them and beaten down for not measuring up is cruel. You've still got plenty of time to pass them up. Everyone's different. That's what makes the human race so beautiful.
When it's all said and done, In the end, we all turn out to be old farts who tell others how they should act.

I'm going to traffic court on Friday: Count one: failure to stop at a stop sign Count Two: expired registration
I tried to pay both fines automatically on the internet, but the county web sight just hangs,so it's off to traffic court. I have nothing else to lose as I'm off work on Friday anyway. I'll pead guilty to charge two and not guilty to charge one. I have photos of the intersection that show how the officer could have missed seeing me stop. My neighbor is a cop and he thinks I will lose, but I explained how at the intersection the arresting officer's line of sight is blocked by a hill and vegetation. My neighbor says if I approach it that way, I may win.

Dude, don't joke. I worked at the 6th District Ct. of Appeals last summer and we had an appeal come up from small claims for about the same amount as what Ammo's arguing.
Ammo, try to get it through the security deposit. If that doesn't work. Go to small claims and just state your case. I highly doubt the judge would really throw you under the bus.

J/C This thread is funnier then hell. I find it quite amusing that people have no problem jumping on me assuming that they know why I ride Ammo, and even try to give examples concerning my behavior towards him which is really off base but anyways, these people are doing the same exact thing I do with some Ammo threads but in their minds it's fine to rip me. Thats fine, I can take it, but the hypocrisy in this thread, by certain posters is running wild big time. This thread is hilarious, not only does it show how clueless some of you are concerning me and my posts towards Ammo but the obvious hypocrites that took part in it. Good thing you guys don't get paid for seeing the future, we'd have a lot of flat broke posters on this board. For those who think they have a clue about me try again, this time at least make your guesses educated. Oh and Crazyotto, next time you accuse some other guy of having a hard on for another for another guy, at least spell it out instead of masking it, basically be a man. Sad.

You're a hoot. You know darn well had I spelled "it" out it's more than likely a Ref would have deleted the post. Perhaps that is what you would have preferred? And saying I should be a man is past laughable coming from one of the guys that stalks a college kid around on a message board giving him grief.

So basically saying if you spelled it out it broke the rules? Shocking, as for your stalking comment, cute, but far off. If I stalked him that would mean I would respond to every post he makes, well I don't but using your definition, you could be considered stalking me, In reality what I do is called, responding to a post on a message board, you can call it what ever you call it in your own little world, but keep it real.
If someone acted as immature as Ammo at his age I would point it out as well, he does it to himself and others agree with my stance, but if posters such as yourself want to make me the scapegoat, fine, but it sucks for you guys since overall your DEAD WRONG.

You read the last page......I skipped the last two.......my 2 cents:
Fletch has had a HO for Ammo since, well, since the first time they posted in the same thread. No reason, really. He just hates Ammo. So he takes any and every chance he gets to take a shot at the kid. It is now bordering on the pathetic. Coachb is the same. He used to actually stalk Ammo, IMO. Although, he hasn't been around much lately, thank God. Shep tends to rip Ammo on a semi-regular basis but isn't quite as vehement. Why 3 "adults" (or more, in this thread) would spend this much time on-line acting like children while taking the kid to task for doing the same thing is beyond me.
Ammo, of course, doesn't help matters most of the time by rubbing his fairly privileged lifestyle in their faces whenever he can. But he is still fairly young and I'd expect a good deal more stupidity from him in this regard than I would the others.
The Ammo critics are usually bitching about his drinking. But rare is the weekend when guys like Beerdowner aren't on here bragging about downing a 12 pack in a two hour binge. Or getting blotto at DTI. Guess it truly is "who you know". JMHO
Great post. I agree with it completely. I'm continuously amazed to see some adult posters on this board jump into multiple threads started by Ammo only to give sarcastic or demeaning statements meant to cast him in a negative light. Some are subtle, some more direct. But the intent is always clear. I find this behavior to be pathetic. I've lost a lot of respect I used to have to long-time posters on this board because of it. If you don't care for his style, just ignore him and move on.
I love when the holier than thou chastise the holier than thou. You calling people pathetic is just as bad and nasty as you think people are being to poor little ammo. I love the hypocritical nature of humans.
Ya'll need to quit taking things so damn seriously.

We could move on to a lighter subject. How about some talk on abortion, religion, and politics

Couch was a WCO QB without the brains or the OL-he had an average release but a high completion pct. around 60 percent. Similar to a young Trent Edwards of the Bills, except Edwards reads a D better. But their philosophical systems are the same. Palmer tried to make Couch into a deep-bomb thrower. Don't even get me started on Garcia... The problem is his WRs were smurf-like burners like KJ and Chaverini and not big, fast YAC-types like Braylon or Jerry Rice that move the chains.
Holcomb was like Vinny, only worse. Maybe the old Jay Schroeder of the Skins/Raiders. Big, tall, rocket arm. No mobility. A decent TD once in a while but lots of INTs. Same receivers as Couch but a faster release made him look smarter for a few games. Then teams began to defense him and play nickel and dime zones instead of blitzing him and he fell apart.
They both weren't the greatest. In fairness I'm amazed Couch did as well as he did (64 TD, 67 INT) with all the bad things levied against him: 1) Poor decision-making 2) Slow release 3) Bad OL 4) No WR 5) No RB 6) Only so-so TE
With all those negatives, to have a .500 pct in TD to INT is pretty amazing. The problem with him also was the high expectations placed on him.
Go Browns!
