The year before that, the same. So don't question my commitment. Did you see the Cavs in the playoffs, how many times have you seen them over the past five years. I don't live closer than 3.5 hours from it, but I've made it to the Garden the past three seasons. Once during the playoffs.
I think I misinterpreted your statement. Are you trying to say some people are only fans based on if they go to games or not? If so Ive been to 2 cavs games my entire life. Thats not a good way to determine someones commitment IMO

1. name calling is a no-no on this board, and is a bannable offense, although i won't whistle-blow like someone did to me 2 years ago when i posted a link that had some profanity in it.
2. boston fans, you are on a cleveland-based board, expect to hear it from cavs fans, just like all the fans of nfl teams not named the browns hear it on here, that's the way it is, and it is quite ignorant to think you won't hear it. that's common freaking sense.
3. congratulaions boston fans, you are on the verge of a championship.

No. I was making the point about me not being a bandwagon fan. Period.
LeBron: 1) People took it so personally that I used the term idiots. I was directly calling anyone an idiot, and didn't mean to offend people. Some people need to lighten up.
2) It's a Browns board that we're on. There's people who like plenty of different teams....... There are at least four Celtic fans who post regularly.
3) Thank you, the Cavs weren't bad. I gave a lot of credit to your defense, 2nd best to ours in my book.

yes, there are plenty of other fans on this board, but if you aren't a cleveland fan, you're going to hear it
if i went on to a patriots board, i would expect to see the celtic love, to not think so would be ignorant...
and actually, the cavs are a better defensive team than boston, they just can't play offense to save their lives, if they had, they would have beaten boston, and maybe even san antonio last year
they made boston's big 3 look pedestrian, and while boston's defense looked great, it was against the cavs...

Nice to finally see a team NOT from Cleveland (the Lakers) choke away a "gimme". It's usually us.

Our defense matches up with teams differently. Look at what we're doing to the Lakers......... I thought we were in a little slump against the Cavs. But our defense throughout the year has been very strong. Ray Allen has played well against Kobe, as has Paul Pierce, everybody has their spot and role in the defense and they support eachother very well.
It all comes from the Obuntue philosophy that Doc Rivers brought in. The team bonded together in Europe before the season, and they focused on defense and team chemistry. My buddies and I always thought of it as group success. Well the team has played great defense all year. I honestly can't say I watched enough games of your team to establish whose is better, but I do recognize that Cleveland has a top defense too.

all you have to do is look at our rotation, and look at the offensive skills of our guys...
we are forced to be the best defensive team in the league, without that, we don't get too far...
stopping a team with kg, ray allen, and paul pierce, and holding them in the 80's, is a lot more impressive than stopping a team with lebron james and a bunch of catch and shoot guys...
boston was the better team, and the better team won, but in my opinion, the better defensive team was sent home

the lakers got cute the other night and blew it... golden opportunity...
i don't see them taking 2 in boston...
however, i do like them, if they can push this to a game 7, because they will have the best player on the court, and that is always a good thing, the cavs nearly pulled it off...
i think this thing is over in 6 though...

I think it's over tonight.
The cream rises to the top, and the Celtics are the better team.
I can also see a situation where if it's close toward the end of the game, Kobe throws in the towel - similar to Game 7 against Phoenix. I know he's ultra-competitive and that he wants to win, but I haven't seen that side of him when the going gets really tough. All of his super-clutch moments in recent memory haven't come with so much adversity as being down 3-1 and coming off a humiliating loss.
But if it does get back to Boston, I think it's over in 6 as well.

Eat that LA fans.
It's only a short matter of time till the C's take home the title.
The Celtics picked it up big tonight and pulled off a miracle.
Great job!
Perhaps you should have waited for the series to end before asking Laker fans to "eat that".
Feeling nervous?

No. Not really. We lost that game at the end of it, we weren't blown out. In fact it was very close. KG went 0-2 from the line then Pierce was fouled by Kobe but it was called a steal. (Other way around they took place). From there we couldn't shoot our way back.
But the fact is that LA is not as good as people have made them out to be. Sure I'm nervous until we win, but I think we definitely have a good adv at this point.
We're a better team.
As for LeBron, Say what you will, you're judging your team's defense vs mine in one series of games. The other day I looked on NBA.com stats and saw that the Celtics and Pistons had the fewest PPG scored on them........
I know it might seem stupid to argue considering that i'd call the Cavs the 2nd best defensive team, but our guys got the record we did and are in the finals because of our defense. Your team's D might have matched up well against us, but that doesn't mean that it's better...... We're pretty solid

For all of the hype this series received about the nostalgia and reviving the rivalry and blahblahblah... It's miles away from those old Lakers / Celtics series of the 80s... MILES AWAY.

for one, don't look at ppg as a good defensive stat, it can only show so much... field goal % allowed is a much better stat and i believe boston still led
but please don't bring up the best record thing, the cavs dealt with all kinds of bs all year, and still managed 47 (i think?) wins, not bad all things considering
their defense in the playoffs was stellar, they didn't have a "big 3" to carry them like all the other teams seem to have, they won on defense, and on defense alone.
that's why i put them above boston, as well as everyone else.

I wanted to give this a bump and make a couple of comments.
The Lakers got their butts handed to them ... no doubt about it. But they were one of the two last teams standing in a league of 29. They crushed all other teams in the Western Conference on their way to the Finals. Kobe was playing better than he ever had. They should get some credit for all of these things.
Kobe had a really bad Finals ... horrible would be a good adjective. For all the Kobe fans out there, I think you can take it to the bank that he will come back next year focused and ready to go. It would behoove him to put on a little weight and focus more on dominating the game near the rim and from the post than attempting to from the 3 point line. He's a career low 40s FG%, and you don't give your team a chance to win win you are constantly going 9-28 from the floor.
The thing I would be most alarmed about - however - if I were a Kobe fan, is that he seemed like he ran out of gas and had no energy. He's still fairly young and in the prime of his career and by all accounts is a fitness nut ... so I wonder if maybe the tread he's put on those tires since 17 years of age has finally started to catch up to him. It looked like he was aging before our eyes. Only time will tell, and we'll know by the halfway mark of next year if there is any merit in that. MJ should hook him up with Tim Groves - his trainer all those years - and help him to counter the effects of what we all go through in getting older.
I am most happy for KG. Consummate teammate and team player. And I'm glad he had a good final game because I thought he wasn't just aging before our eyes, but had one foot into retirement. He did not look like the player that we had seen over the years, but he redeemed himself at the end and delivered a big performance.
If I was a Celtics fan and expecting a run of championships, I would be fearful of the letdown. Pierce, Allen, and KG dumped everything they had into this year, and I would wonder if they'll have the mental capacity to take it all the way again - completely spent and exhausted by this year. They are also up there in age. It will be interesting to see what kind of season they put together next year.
As for the Lakers, I wonder about Bynum and if he's built like Courtney Brown. I would be concerned about his return and then when he does return be fearful of another injury. Maybe it's because he's young and grew too fast or is still growing. But they need him in a bad way.
And there is a lot of talk about trading Odom. He didn't have a good Finals. But I don't think Odom is a problem. The guy is a triple double waiting to happen. Their glaring weakness is at the point guard position. I'm not sure Farmar would be in the league if he didn't play for the Lakers as I don't know any other team that would want him. Vujacic can shoot when he doesn't have to take a dribble, and I think he gets way too many minutes for what he contributes. Improve the point guard position, improve the bench, and hope Bynum makes it back. If Kobe comes back hungrier than ever and those things happen, they should be right back in the thick of it next year.

Seriously, and that's what bugged me most about this years Finals. The 2007-2008 Celtics were being championed as a "return to the Celtic glory days" and "what an amazing turnaround" and all that jazz, when in truth what they did is rent a couple of perennial all-stars to take one serious run at the championship. They're built 100% for the short term, and had better spend a lot of time next season developing their young core of players in Rondo, Perkins, and Powe (who at this point are all good ball players, but not exactly the guys I'd trust to lead me to the promised land), and focus a little less on putting the ball in the hands of three aging stars. I don't see that happening though, as, unfortunately for them, playing in the same town as the Red Sox and the Pats means they have to win now (which is exactly why they picked up KG and Ray Allen in the first place). It worked, and it looks good this year, but in two years when they're back to being a lottery team, what's going to happen then? Maybe they'll sign Lebron when he's a free agent, because everyone knows he wants to get the heck out of Cleveland...
But with what they did in the off-season bringing in two guys with 19 all-star appearances between them, I'd sure as heck expect that sort of turnaround. And it sure isn't a return to the glory days of the Boston Celtics.

Considering the results, I'd take a year like that for the Browns.
I want to experience what those Boston fans must have felt like.
