Political parties suck... Costume Parties are much better, and at least they are up-front about not being who they pretend to be

I'm still trying to figure which one is the donkey and which one is the elephant. Oh well.

I'm not registered as Dem or Rep. I do, however, consider myself a Libertarian.

I'm registered republican... I'll probably stay that way... I'm not happy with the current batch of republicans... but the dems still haven't given me any better options...

Registered as a Democrat...but if a "common sense moderate party" ever became a viable contender I'd QUICKLY jump ship.

You needed another choice.

None of the above. I don't belong to or vote for any party. I vote for whoever I think is the best choice.

I hate the idea of parties, tbh. I think I most closely resemble a Libertarian. The way I feel about government is the same way I feel about salespeople... 'stay out of my noise unless I ask you for something.'

Technically I believe I'm still registered as a republican because my parents would have kicked me out if they knew I voted otherwise! Never changed it because I never figured out why it matters.

I suppose if I had to say which way do I lean,, Dem or Rep.. I'd probably have to say Rep.

But, to be honest, for the last 20 years of so, I've been pretty disgusted with both parties..

Too any lobbists and to many PAC's control them. It's to the point that if you don't have a PAC talking about what's important to you, then you have no chance of being heard.

That's just WRONG.

SO, I tend to vote for a Candidate rather than a party. it does make it difficult at times, but it's what I feel I must do.

That's why can stand up in front of anyone and be very honest and say, I haven't made up my mind yet about who I want to be President.

Sooner or later, I'll figure it out.

This election may actually come down to WHO took less PAC and Lobby money. Who is less indebted to special interests.

Right now and as things stand today, Obama fits that bill better than McCain, but let's see how it goes.. If this race becomes tight and Obama needs cash, he may have to give in.. then as far as I"m concerned, that advantage goes right out the window.

I'm an Independant voter. In 2000 I supported McCain because he was a "true Maverick". But in order to get his parties nomination, he had to "adjust his platform" to conform, which turned me away from him.

So this year I am leaning towards Obama. However, I may end up voting for McCain. In the first six years of both the Clinton and Bush presidency, their respective parties controled the Senate, Congress and The White House.

What ensued was corruption and scandal in both cases. Therefore it would go against my better judgement to "endorse a monopoly" by either party. So if it becomes painfully obvious that both the Senate and Congress will be controled by Democrats, I will in all likelihood vote for McCain to help establish checks and balances.

I used to be a died in the wool Republican. But at this point I don't trust any of them. I believe that when they controlled congress and the White House they proved that what they say they are for and what they actually will do are not the same thing. I would say that I always believed that of the Dems too. I honestly think that the parties use the animosity among their followers to paint a facade of being different, while not giving a crap what the actual rank and file believe. Picking McCain just confirms my belief...I don't trust him, and honestly I always thought the "maverick" thing was just a way to get attention that most Republican's can't.

So at this point I'm between Independent/Libertarian, but I have a strong helping of "I don't care anymore" in there as well. The older i get the less difference it really seems to make to me. I am mostly conservative, but I have some view points that get classified as liberal as well. So I don't really fit in either party anyway.

I'll probably have to tell them my number changed and make something up. I really don't like getting four calls a day asking me how I'm voting.

I'm a registered Republican but I am distancing myself more and more from the current Republican leadership (or lack there of). I hope that a new repbulican leader will emerge soon to bring back the party to the conservative side.

I am a Independent....I have voted both Republican & Democrat in the past....Basically I am a Conservative on foriegn policy and somewhere between a conservative Democrat and moderate Republican on domestic policy....IMPO blind faith to one party is a Bad thing....There are times when the middle ground should be supported as a way to put America first....

While agree with your sentiment....

in the last 20-30 years who was the last "conservative democrat" presidential candidate?

'08 - Obama?
'04 - Kerry?
'00 - Gore?
'96 - Clinton? but as close as you can get
'92 - Clinton? but as close as you can get
'88 - Dukakis?
'84 - Mondale?
'80 - Carter?

I have not checked the exact amount in a while, but I think it's only a few bucks a month for an unlisted number

I shouldn't have to pay for an unlisted number when these people are the only ones I don't want calling. The do not call list is working for me otherwise.

The fee (with Verizon) is $4.95 a month and that's BS that you have to pay ANYTHING for it. It's YOUR assigned number and if you don't want it listed you should only have to make that request....perhaps paying a one-time fee of 4.95 would be reasonable IMO but to have to fork over 5 bucks a month to keep your info out of a book they publish once a year is ludicrous.

You'd think they'd have the fee for it to be listed instead. By listing it, they now have to use ink and paper to print the phone book and that costs money. Whereas, if you're unlisted, they don't need to use ink and paper.

Michelle~The unfortunate thing about the DNC list is that it does protect from Non-profits (political parties/candidates). However, if you tell them to remove you from their list and they don't don't do so within (I believe) 6 weeks, you can file a report with the FCC and they'll get nailed with an $11K fine, per offense. Just keep track of exactly when you told them (dates, times and the person you spoke with). That info will be asked on the FCC website. I made a report myself in regards to a call that I was getting. After looking the number up online, I saw that TONS of people had the same complaint against the same number. ("Car Warranty" stuff on cars that I've never owned).

I think "Other (please list)" pretty much covers that.

I agreed with a previous poster and you roll your eyes at me. Nice.

There are millions upon millions of registered independent voters, and it would have been so very easy to list the choices as:
Rep
Dem
Ind
None of the above

That's my opinion and that's why we're here.

I am a registered Dem.
I would consider myself a "moderately liberal republican" if there is such a thing?
I guess I am a " fence sitter" and whoever makes the most sense gets my vote, regardless of which party they belong to.
I remember when I first registered to vote.
A lady at the library asked me which pary I was declaring.
I got offended and told her it was none of here buisness. heheh
