What can you play/do on a decent level? You don't have to be in a band or perform, it could be just for fun.

Used to play the guitar and piano pretty well, now I suck.

I always wanted to learn to play the violin, sax, flute and thought the drums would be cool.

Been in many bands over the years, allway's was the lead vocal's, and guitar, and a little key's. Can hold a beat on the drum's and can play the trumpet*or I used to* been many years.

I still kinda play guitar and sing. I can actually keep a couple different beats on a drum set too. Back when I was a band nerd, I could play everything but the flute.

I want to learn piano, tried and gave up years ago.

I am actually pretty good on the harmonica. When we go to karaoke, I do "Piano Man" by Billy Joel and people really love it. I have a little suitcase with all my different harmonicas in different keys.

I've gotten a ton of Neil Young songs down pat on the harmonica. "Motion Pictures" and "Pocahontas" are two of my favorites, as well as my wife and my song "Silver and Gold."

I would love to learn to play the guitar and drums.

That is awesome! And I'm glad you have the good sense to bring different keyed harps.... This dude used to come to karaoke and play the same one all night and it would make me furious.... once I got drunk and told him to can it and I haven't seen him since.

I actually tried playing it when I was deep in my Dylan phase and couldn't quite get it and the guitar at the same time.

Yeah, when I first started out, I wondered why I couldn't play "Heart of Gold" for the life of me. Then I realized I was on a C when I was supposed to be on a G harp. What a maroon!

I don't know how to play the guitar or I'd try both at once for sure. Not sure how successful I'd be, though.

Have played drums for 20+ years now, Guitar for 10+, Bass for about 5, can play very simplistic piano/keyboards, and played trombone in school although I don't think I remember much of any of it, and I sing flat.

I always wanted to learn violin, saxophone and truly learn piano.

I can't play anything anymore. I took piano lessons for 2 years a long, long time ago. Wish I would've stuck with it.

It's awesome to hear good piano players (and I don't mean classical music piano - I mean a good rocking piano part)

One of the best I've heard was the piano player for the Kingsmen Quartet Yeah, gospel quartet music. Can't think of his name now but in the late 80's and early 90's the guy could flat out play. I'm pretty sure he's dead now - got cancer or something.

Even in rock bands, even with a synthysizer, as long as it sounds like a piano - those guys can really bring it.

I wish I had that skill.

I played the trombone in middle school and junior high, but I'm done now and am thrilled about it. I really kind of sucked and just didn't like band. I wanted to play the sax, but I already had a trombone from my older brother, so I played that. I always thought it'd be cool to play an electric guitar as well.

In a related note, by daughter who just turned 2 is at her first piano lesson.

I'm curious to see how it went. They should be back here shortly.

Play the guitar and am a good singer, used to do performances and traveling show choirs all through high school.

I wish I could play the piano and drums as well; one day when I have time, I'll pick both up and try to learn.

Actually, something else I have given thought to learning is bagpipes. I'd really only need to learn a couple of songs. I would play at cemetaries/funerals. Stop and think about it - about the loneliest sound you can hear is a bagpiper playing Amazing Grace - 100 to 200 ft. away from a burial site. I bet there's good money to be made.

Tuba player by profession. Guitarist/singer by hobby.

Always thought violin would be cool. I like the double reeds too (oboe etc)

I may have the least amount of musical talent on this board. I couldn't carry a tune or play an instrument to save my life.

My parents and sibling's are the same way.

If I could play bagpipes, and get $150 to $200 per funeral - where you would play for less than 10 minutes - yeah, that would be my gig.

Classically-trained trumpet player (studied at BW's conservatory -- great memories). I can play a little bit of piano.

Would like to learn to play acoustic guitar someday.

I self-taught myself piano and I love it, but I have two questions:

how do you develop rhythm without the metronome? I've tried it and it's distracting.
How do you get good at playing a piece even if you have to turn pages..that throws my rhythm off. I know how to read music and piano's one of those things that you can do well with tons of reps, but when I play a piece turning a page kills my rhythm.

I mainly played 50s-today rock/pop, some classical. Elton, Chicago, Journey etc. No formal training...but I learned faster simply because I knew how to read music from 4th grade flutophone and I know musical scales. My problem is timing.

Play any Blues Traveler? They're song "Hook" has some pretty sweet harmonica parts.

I took guitar lessons when I was little but couldn't play a lick now. Always wanted to play the drums. I have a buddy who plays and is phenominal, he's in a band that is pretty sweet, they do alot of shows in Cleveland.

I sing Karaoke but i'm not that good. I'm not terrible but not good. I sing songs like Weezer- Say it Ain't So, Red Hot Chili Peppers- Under the Bridge, some Sublime songs. Stuff like that.

Other than that I play one hell of an air guitar.

I have a guitar that I play a little. Though not very often. And I don't really know what I'm doing. I bought it about five years ago, cuz I figured every pothead needs a guitar.

I have always wanted to learn how to use turntables. Learn how to scratch, beat-juggle, and do all the stuff that makes DJ's like Roc Raida super cool.
