I'm trying to find good classic rock music because I believe that Classic Rock is the best music out there. I know many of the good bands/artists, but I don't know what songs of theirs are good.
My dad is a pretty big music fan, but he doesn't really get into the harder stuff, which I like, so he is only so much help. I think I know all of the good songs by bands like Boston, Journey, Bruce Springsteen, REO Speedwagon, and CCR, but I don't know as much about say, ACDC, Led Zepplin, and Aerosmith. Any help would be appreciated.
I personally think LedZep is the greatest band ever. They often get out voted by the likes of the Beatles and Stones, but they are my personal number 1.
Their first six albums are downright amazing. Their seventh album - Presence - they started to show some signs that the run was coming to an end, although there is a very iconic song on there called Achilles Last Stand ... that song could have gone on any of their previous albums and fit right in.
I'd start with their second album - Led Zeppelin II - and their sixth album - Physical Graffiti. They are considered their best albums by many. Just about every single song on both albums rocks. On Zeppelin II, What Is and What Should Never Be is awesome and Ten Years Gone on Physical Graffiti is another one of my favorites.
Check these out. Hope you like them as much as I do.

Here are some to check out...I'll keep this in the 70's for classic rock...
Aerosmith - Dream On, Kings and Queens, Mama Kin Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper KISS - Detroit Rock City, Love Gun Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen, Schools Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Billion Dollar Babies
I guess to "stretch" this thread a little further, Would anyone disagree with me that the 70's was the best decade ever for music whether you liked Rock, R&B or Country? I believe the 70's was the BEST DECADE for all that mattered in all aspects from sports to news, etc...Give me some feedback if you don't mind sharing my friends.....
Check out a compilation by the Allman Brothers called "Beginnings" ... "Whipping Post", "Not My Cross To Bear", "Midnight Rider" and just about everything else on it are great.
I always enjoyed the song THESE EYES....as well as a few others songs they recorded such as American Woman!
I was very fortunate enough to see them in 2001 and 2002 during their reunion tour. Had 1st and 2nd row seats for both shows respectively. Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman were there along with Garry Peterson on drums, Donnie McDougall on guitar and Bill Wallace on bass. They did not disappoint, to say the very least. There is a DVD called "Runnin' Back Thru Canada" which is their first concert together in their hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba...worth the money and more.
BTW, if you ever see a band that's called the Guess Who on tour, it's only got the original bass player Jim Kale along with a cast of unknowns. Don't waste your money.
"My opinions and feelings are mine and shall not be influenced by anyone....especially liberals."
J/C... Not sure exactly what era you're looking for but for me anything before 1990 is classic rock. I love it too and here's a few that I would definitely suggest:
Styx - Renegade, Come Sail Away
Foreigner - Jukebox Hero, Feels like the First Time, Cold as Ice, I Want to Know What Love Is
Asia - Heat of the Moment
Billy Joel - Piano Man, Only the Good Die Young, We Didn't Start the Fire, Captain Jack
Boston - More than a Feeling, Piece of Mind, Foreplay/Longtime, Rock n' Roll Band, and the rest of their debut album
Credence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son, Travelin' Band, Down on the Corner, Lookin' Out my Back Door, Bad Moon Rising
Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days, Born to Run, Hungry Heart, Born in the USA
And depending on what you want you can throw in pretty much anything on Queen and Journey's greatest hits, Meatloaf, Joe Walsh (Rocky Mountain Way, Life's Been Good, etc), and China Grove is an absolute must.
Just one man's opinions..
Time and change will surely show How firm thy friendship O - HI - O
the best song when showing still pictures of sports highlights. Also, during New Years, I love when they play this song when showing pictures of events that happened thru the year.
ANYTHING by Yngwie Malmsteen if you're into guitar soloists. Hits? No. Good? Yes, I've even heard greatness used and do not object to the use in this instance.
A little more "laid back"?
Captain Beyond is second to none in this "sub-genre" of R&R.
Another classic rock guitarist maybe?
Ronnie Montrose in his debut with the band "Montrose".
And about as close as I get to "classic punk rock", are The Tubes.
As is the case now, the "really good stuff" you don't hear much about.
JMHO
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
If your checking the top one hundred singles you'll never hear the good stuff. Back in the 70's the classic rockers were buying albums not singles. The people who like the Carpenters and The Yellow Ribbon guy (forgot name) bought singles. Do a top selling album search.
