Another criminal Rapper again

DMX couldn't quite keep up with the Joneses. Or at least with the charade of pretending to be one.

The trouble-prone rapper was arrested (again) in a Phoenix mall Saturday afternoon on suspicion of felony identity theft, stemming from an April hospital stay in which he allegedly used a fake name and Social Security number to avoid paying a $7,500 medical bill.

Police say DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons but who went under the pseudonym "Troy Jones" when he checked in to the Mayo Clinic last spring, was busted while hanging out with a group of friends at Phoenix's Metrocenter mall.

Police, who have been investigating the charge for some months, say an officer ran his name, found the warrant, and arrested him on the spot.

As he was being carted off by officers, the rapper turned to the hastily congregated group of local news cameras, said, "harrassment," and shook his head.

As it is, the 37-year-old stayed in the Scottsdale clinic back in April, where he was treated for a bout of pneumonia.

No bond has yet been set for the rapper's latest arrest, his fifth in the past three months, and officials say he will likely be isolated for safety purposes should he remain in jail.

The rapper's extensive rap sheet already includes busts on charges of outstanding warrants, misdemeanor animal cruelty and felony drug possession, speeding on a suspended license and attempted purchasing of cocaine and marijuana.

The millionaire? Trying to avoid a 7500 hundred medical bill? What level will these punk thugs take to try an avoid their responsibilities? This is a shame, but each month there is a new article discussing these people and there method of making money. They owe no one, they act like everyone owes them. Get with the program thug rappers, this country lived before rap and could end easily without this format of expression, but it is a damn shame that just about every article concerning a rapper is negative, and I do not think it is stereotyping I really think these guys just act and portray and anti society method.

I wonder how long another rapper gets arrested, and if so which one? They disgrace their music, as well as the people who enjoy it. Damn pathetic!

I agree that much. I can't attack the genre itself because the content varies but I can't help but shake my head when I hear these stories.

Rap isn't even music...it's noise. It is simply expression for all of the homies in the hood.

It's even worse going down a main street and having to hear that slime coming out of some kid's car and it's blaring loud enough to wake the dead.

I hate rap. Period. I also hate hip hop. Period.

Your right the genre does differ, and not all rappers are criminals, but when you read stories like this, people will label the music in general and think everyone who performs in this area of expression will deem them a thugs. The media doesn't help but the guys performing are not helping their cause as well. It's time for rap musicians to stand up and hold themselves accountable for their actions and just quit the stupidity, that way they will gain more respect from those such as myself who question their agenda's.

That wasn't my goal bud, It gets old hearing these same stories. A rapper needs to step up in a manner to take the bad taste out of peoples mouth, such as I have. They have talent, but need to take the low road for some time. Does that make some sense?

Really this negativity doesn't help, so why not don't they chose to just stay clean? I am not hating I read the article and just shook my head.

Molly Hackett is stuck in the 70's. His knowledge of music will and has not changed, and won't since he doesn't have the ability to grasp today's society.

Oh and since were discussing it, Molly Hackett, is terrible and they are in a gene of music I enjoy, but overall, they were never big, hell DMX has a bigger fan base then Molly had.

It's in the same manner that Bush supporters feel about how the media covers him and the war. You only hear the negative and not the positive.

There are far more rappers not in trouble than there are in trouble...same with NFL, and NBA players.

Only the negatiave makes headlines.

Like you never see rock starts getting into trouble?

Rappers sometimes aren't the greatest guys in the world, but I know where you're going with this Fletch. It's not limited to them. I don't agree with anything the guy does or has done, but people who do crap like this come from all different colors and backgrounds.

I bet you got all giddy when you found this article.

You have your generation, I have mine. I prefer not to be one of the homies...I'm too old for that.

Molly Hatchet basically saved southern rock. After Lynyrd Skynyrd's main band members died in a plane crash, it was MH who stepped up and resurrected that music one year later, and the bands that followed suit were Blackfoot, Outlaws, and Mothers Finest to name a few. Never that big? That's your opinion.

Speaking of being never that big, Chevy Chase wasn't. His only real success was SNL. His movies sucked.

Ummm Fletch is a nickname I have had since my youth, but saying Chevy Chase did nothing but SNL just proves your lack of being able to realize times change as do people. To label Chevy Chase as a SNL one hit wonder just shows your lack of knowledge. You missed out on some great Chevy Chase moments, Caddyshack Fletch, etc...

Sorry dude but I'd listen to Abba before I wasted time with Molly Hackett? They suck.

Giddy? Why? I am not the hater you might think I am, I just shake my head since at least monthly and article is written about a rapper committing a crime or being sought by the law. Rappers do not portray themselves in a manner society seems to be correct. I didn't write the story, just posted it, but damn dude, your labeling me worse then most people do when it comes to rap music, so I guess you like being a hypocrite. That's cool, but if you actually took the time to read my comments, you would see I ws not bagging on rappers in general. They seem to put themselves in negative situations, and guess what that's not my fault.

No, I am not a fan of the music but each article I post or respond to, puts these artists in a negative light, sort of speak. Try to argue with someone who has passion concerning this subject, I just read laugh and shake my head, especially since I like in a suburb where all the young white folk think they are black.

Try again, this time make a legit point please. Thanks.

What's even worse about rap is that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of all places had the balls to induct Grandmaster Flash in that great place. Worse yet, there is currently a small place in the rockhall devoted to hip hop. WTF??? Their reasoning was that they wanted to bring in more of the young crowd to visit the hall.I go there at least 10 times a year and before rap and hip hop was even discovered, there was never a problem getting people in there before. At this moment over 7 million people visited the hall since its opening. I'd rather learn more about how Elvis, the Beatles, and how Fats Domino influenced ROCK AND ROLL. Tell me how rap and hip hop has ANYTHING to do with rock. If they wanted recognition that bad, then they can build their own hall of fame.

lol don't these threads go up every couple of months? we should just ask the ref to archive one of these threads so we can just post the link to it.

It's funny how the ppl who say "rap is crap" are the ones that are like 100000 year old? it's either that or they were brought up on some christian rock/ country music lol..

OPEN your minds ppl...then again i hate country music...so it's all relative

You said, "...his only real success was SNL. His movies sucked."

So listing movies that he was in that weren't as good as his others is an invalid argument.

I know people who loved the Fletch and Caddyshack movies. All the National Lampoon movies he was in were great, except Vegas Vacation fell off a bit. Christmas Vacation was one of the funniest movies I've ever watched. A classic.

So saying his movies sucked, and naming Karate Dog, is pretty weak.

I'm 39. I went through the top 40 stage, I hit the ac/dc, motley crue, etc. stage, then I got into rap, then I went back to rock, and finally, against all I thought was good and right, I fell into country. Have been a country fan for about 14 years.

Todays rap is crap I don't listen to. Golly, I don't hardly fit into your stereotype, do I? I'm not 100000 yrs. old, I listened to rap in the late 80's early 90's, and I still have some rap cd's in my possession.

Give it up, man. Isn't DMX the same rapper the last thread was about? How is that another rapper?

Saying rappers are thugs, is like saying, anyone who has a Chevy Chase sig is racist, and thinks all black people are thugs.

It's just DMX, and it's just you.

We should be consistent in our headlines

Another celebrity enters rehab
Another teen star gets pregant
Another rock musician ODs
Another black man robs a 7-11
Another white man beats his wife
Another Hispanic gang goes on a crime spree
Another politician has an affair
Another religious woman drowns her children in the name of God
Another outcast bombs a school

Most people who are even the slightest bit knowledgeable will rep and are bigger fans of 'old school' rap, and rightfully so. But that doesn't mean that all rap that is out now a day is garbage. If you look under the surface, there are still some real good rappers out there.

Unfortunately, now a day most people who think of rap think of that crap that is always on the radio, which I don't consider 'rap', but refer too as 'snap music'. It's music without any significant message or lyrics except to simply get 'get the club rowdy'.

It's simply a new age disco.

I never stated that rock stars never have had issues, though in YOUR mind feel I do, but in all actuality, if these rock star stories were printed I would post them as well, but sadly most of the bad press concerning musicians come from the rap genre. I don't make this stuff up, but find it funny that about once a month there is a story of a rap artist breaking the law. Not my fault.

NDutyme and I had a small discussion about this and he knows what really annoys me about this music and in reality it isn't the music it is the wanna be suberbia kids who try and act ghetto, when in fact if they actually spent time in the ghetto they wouldn't make it since they don't have the "respect factor" needed to survive in this environment.

I do find it funny though how some of you guys act, I was around when Old school rap was worth listening too, now that product has changed and for the worse.

I just posted a story and if that makes you mad, then I would hate to be you at times since it was only a story. Hell I posted this to get a rise out of some folks and of course like usual it did. Please do yourself a favor I am far from that grumpy, bitter old guy some of you think I am, I've went out of my way to actually explain myself to some people I have had issues with, and extended the olive branch so we do not have stupid arguments and so far with the exception of one person who just hates me since I am not a huge OSU fan, everyone else was man enough to accept my apology. Ammo and I get along now and you won't be seeing us battle like we have in the past.

This is a messge board dude, don't get mad, just have fun!

Good work man, That is pretty funny but sadly ironic at the same time. We are a country full of hypocrites and a group of people who stereotype. We are all guilty of this to a point, but is a problem with today's society, if we want to grow as people we need to change our methods of labeling individuals, but unfoprtunately we are a long ways away from this occurring.

No problem Fletch.I get a little too over zealous sometimes...in case you haven't figured that out by now.

Bottom line is, I will never consider rap as music.

Ok you posted it to get a rise out of some people and to get a conversation going but yet when the conversatin gets going and people express their opinions you act like you take it personally.

I asume you were referring to one person who hates you for not being a huge OSU fan as being me. I far from hate you, I may disagree with you on some things but that is what conversation is about. You made statements that I believed were incorrect and I think you were trying to get a rise out of people, again so I stated I felt you were wrong about a subject that you, yourself you dont keep up on a lot. You can hate on OSU all you want, doesnt matter to me.
