Jules most of my friends are ACC fans... I have quite a few SEC fans... and I have a few (other than those on this board) who are Big 10 fans... and when the subject of who you don't like comes up, OSU is mentioned by more of them than any other school with whom they have no affiliation. I know VT fans who hate Miami because of their football history dating back to the Big East and they also hate OSU... for no apparent reason..

So while my "other 49 states" comment was an obvious exaggeration, from what I see... people with no vested interest in the Big 10, just don't like OSU... Take it for what it's worth... it's just my opinion.

Maybe his comments will mean I won't be subjected to having to stomach Bengals games in Columbus anymore!

In all honesty, I felt the same way about OSU fans when I first moved to Columbus. I, being born and raised in Cleveland, knew that Browns fans are passionate, and a little obnoxious...but nobody takes the obnoxious title like OSU fans....and I am a fan. But being here just made me SICK of OSU...it's always buckeyes this, and buckeyes that...like there's not an entire world of sports outside of Columbus. So I feel where he's coming from, but he probably shouldn't have said it, being there are Bengals fans that are Buckeye fans. I doubt that there is an inordinate amount in Cincinnati, but the Bengals fans in Columbus, are probably truly rabid!

Mike Browns dad, (cincy owner) once coached 2 years for the Buckeyes. I guess he had a nice little quote about it and how they beat USC those two years.

Oh well... everybody says they want honesty and people who pull no punches, the whole PC thing is ruining the country blahblahblah.. then a guy says what's on his mind and everybody wonders why he wasn't more PC... y'all need to make up your mind.

Whooo there big fella... I want him to tell the truth, but from a pure marketing standpoint, money making standpoint and perhaps fan base standpoint there has got to be a better way of putting your feelings out there.

Like I said earlier, if he'd have said, I love USC and I think they will take the Buckeyes this year,, that would have gotten the point across without alienating Bengals fans

But having said that, we do know where he stands now.. As if we didn't already.. but now we also know that he isn't the brightest bulb in the lamp as well.

It's looking more and more like Carson Palmer has the same Thug Mentality that most of the Bengals players have.. to me, that's a reflection of management, scouting and coaching.. too bad, I always thought that Lewis was a good guy...

I hear you there, im in the same situation you are. I just look at it this way. There really arent any teams in Columbus, so everyon just jumps all over the Buckeyes. Yes there is the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew, but were talking soccer and hockey, not exactly the pulse of American spectator sports.

So Ive always looked at it this way, in cleveland you have 3 sports to choose from, you may be a fan of all 3 and you have all year to watch onr of your teams. In columbus you really only have 3 months, so people around here go all in during that time. During the offseason what do they talk about?? buckeye football, thats just my take on the (obnoxious buckeye fan) situation.

You forgot about that month plus before the bowl game when they complain about how their layoff is longer than anybody elses.

jmho.... people tend to hate successful programs, mainly because they get sick of hearing about them all the time, or as in OSU's case, they hate the obnoxious fans.
Carson is allowed to say whatever he wants, but he should realize that he's sticking his neck out a little bit here. It's not like the Trojans are head and shoulders above the Buckeyes in talent this year. And I think the Big Ten is going to be a little better than recent years.

The obnoxious tag seems to get bantied (sp?) about when referring to Buckeye fans, but I don't see it. Perhaps I can't with my Scarlet and Gray tinted glasses. I would imagine those that are not citizens of Buckeye Nation have their stories. I can understand a bit of a pompous attitude since the football program has been rather successful the past number of years.

As a sidebar: Our local paper, the Springfield News-Sun used to refer to us as "typical obnoxious Browns fans". They used that tag endlessly. They were and still pretty much are a Bengals rag (despite the current editor supposedly being from Cleveland). At one point during the 80s they conducted a poll to find out what Sports section readers wanted reported and when the top result was more Browns coverage, they stated they couldn't afford to send anyone up to Cleveland. We only got what was on the wire and almost always second billing on the front page.

I'm a Buckeyes fan, but I can relate to what you are saying. I spent 4 years in college close to notre dame. Prior to those 4 years, I never really cared about notre dame - good or bad.

During, and after, those 4 years? I hate nd. During football season nd was the ONLY thing on the news. Watching the local channels news highlights - it's like there weren't any other games on saturdays. :Highlight: Here, we have a shot of "x", notre dames standout jr. safety. He runs a 4.45 40, has 20 tackles this year, and many predict him to be a top draft pick, etc etc". Meanwhile, the clip they are showing is of "x" 15 yds behind the guy that caught a pass, and no, his 4.45 speed isn't reflected in the video. He just got burned for a 60 yd. td,

That's just an example. I hate nd now.

I can see why non buckeye fans hate the bucks, and personally, I like that. That means we are known - we're out there. We're a team everyone wants to beat.

This will all go away and be forgotten once the OSU/USC game is done and the NFL season is rolling along. Bengal/OSU fans will forget about it and shift their focus onto other things. This is a bigger story because it's the offseason and nothing more to worry about.

Not saying that he should not have said those things or doesn't have the right to think those things. This will not effect his career long term I am sure. Are OSU fans going to stop attending Bengals games or stop buying gear because of this? Hardly.

Signing Steinbach - $49.5 million
Signing Lewis - $5 million
Drafting Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn - millions more
Restoring the Browns to champions - priceless.

i dont know, I was browsing a few of the Bengals boards and there are some unhappy campers, they were saying some pretty harsh stuff. Heck, one fan (on the main board) has defected to the Browns because of it.

I just got done listening to the Bray Edwards interview. He was being interviewed by Rich Eisen on the NFL Network and they have it up on the Browns site..

At the very end, Bray lays out a good one on OSU... But tempered and professional and funny..

Check it out. Palmer could learn from BE

You mean Mr. media savvy personality and all around pretty boy, Carson Palmer could take maturity lessons from Leon, fly off the handle, lockerroom cancer, leaving on a helicopter Edwards?

Naw,, he can learn from the NEW and Improved BE...

Maybe it's just me, but BE doesn't deserve the Leon tag anymore.. he's earned some respect both on and off field JMO

Exactley, OSU fans should know exactly why so many people hate OSU and not be offended. For the same reason, I hate the Yankees, Duke basketball and the Lakers. Even though none of those teams are rivals to any of my hometown favorites (though the Yankees used to be in Clevelands division when my hatred for them started. And in the movie Major League). I have never seen any good in those three teams and will never wish for them to win at any time. I even like Shaq now that he dont play there and has negative things to say towards the Lakers organization. When he played there, I saw him as an oversized punk. Who uses his elbows and shoulders, to move his defender out of the way, waaaaay to much to make an easy layup.

Im also getting sick of Boston is all 3 major sports, even though I like Garnett. Still rooted for them against the Lakers. It was a no win situation. Like not wanting the Patriots to go undefeated but having a huge dislike for Coughlin and Eli, for crying about which team drafted him, at the same time.

I hate Florida. Even before they beat OSU in both sports title games. I just hated that look Spurrier always had on his face. But at the same time, Ive always like Florida St. and Miami.

Ive also hated USC for the same reason Palmer hates OSU. I never considered them going for a 3 peat when they lost to Texas when they didnt play in the BCS title game. I just got sick of seeing them beating weak PAC 10 teams with no defense and their big comebacks against unrated PAC 10 schools. Especially since they have one of the biggest states, of spoiled rich kid of athletes, to recruit.

Palmer isnt a big enough icon as Lebron. Lebron had the guts to actually go to the Indians playoff game with a yankees hat. I dont think Palmer knew that ESPN would be putting that on the air the same day that Columbus would be on ESPNs "Titletown" ,which is sort of getting on my nerves. At least Lebron didnt back off his statements. He grew up a frontrunning Yankees fan. Im sure he would like to see the Indians do good if they werent playing the Yankees. It was funny how Carson Palmer had his agent back up his statements realizing that most Bengals fans are OSU fans. If the Bengals win, all will be forgotten in Cincy. Just like all was forgotten for Lebron when basketball season started and he had an MVP caliber season. Now, Palmer has more things to be barked at by browns fans next time he comes to lose in Cleveland. Palmer has always been kind of a jealous person. Like him making statements about the Browns having 5 prime time games. Jealousy. Why should he care, its harder on a team playing alot of prime time games. They have shorter time to prepare for the upcoming opponent and it takes away from their Sunday preperations before gametime.

Honestly, as much as I love the buckeyes, it's nice to see a Bengal in the news for a reason other than busting a kid's face in, getting underaged girls drunk, breaking a guy's windshield, multiple violations of the substance abuse policy, or making a complete mockery of your team and city, et al.

Sad, I know.

I've always liked Carson Palmer, and I feel he deserves a better team, particularly off the field.
