Looks like Harbaugh's switch to a boot-camp style training camp is paying off... for the rest of the division.

Ngata hurts leg, adding to list of Ravens injuries
Associated Press

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was carted off the field Sunday with an injured right leg after getting caught in a pileup during a full-contact drill.

Defensive lineman Haloti Ngata became the latest Raven to get injured during training camp. Below you can see the injury affecting three of the most prominent players and their 2007 stats:

Haloti Ngata, DT
Current injury: Right leg
Prognosis: Unknown
Tackles: 63
Sacks: 3

Willis McGahee, RB
Current injury: Left leg
Prognosis: Unknown
Carries: 294
Rush yards: 1,207

Jared Gaither, OT
Current injury: Right ankle
Prognosis: Unknown
Games: 6
Starts: 2

Ngata was on the ground for several minutes before limping with assistance to the sideline, where he was then driven off the field.

"We don't think it's serious, but we've got to find out as we go," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said.

Ngata's injury was the latest in a long list during Harbaugh's first week of training camp.

Running back Willis McGahee didn't practice because of a lower left leg injury, and offensive tackle Jared Gaither also didn't practice after spraining his right ankle Saturday.

"He woke up and it was swollen," Harbaugh said of Gaither, who is vying to fill the void left by the retirement of Jonathan Ogden. "They're evaluating it still."

Adam Terry moved over to Gaither's left tackle spot, with reserve Mike Kracalik inserted as the starter on the right side in Terry's place.

Rookie Ray Rice took over for McGahee.

Others not practicing: safety Ed Reed (physically unable to perform list, undisclosed injury); cornerback David Pittman (PUP, foot); running backs Cory Ross (arm) and P.J. Daniels (cramps); and offensive tackle David Hale (undisclosed).

Cornerback Chris McAlister, who underwent offseason knee surgery, passed his physical and began practicing after being activated from the non-football injury list.

Also, cornerback Fabian Washington and fullback Le'Ron McClain were activated from the non-football injury list after passing a conditioning test. Tight end Daniel Wilcox (offseason toe surgery) and wide receiver Demetrius Williams (lower left leg) remain on the PUP list.

Cornerback Samari Rolle has been excused from practice following his father's recent death.

"The timetable is Samari's right now," Harbaugh said.

I'm really beginning to wonder about the other coaches in our division.

There was a time many worried about RAC... if he pulls off another great season (along with Chud) no one will be questioning him.

Yikes. If this ends up carrying well into the season the Ravens will be picking top-5.

Pit has issues, Rats drop like flies, and Cincy decides to keep Ocho-Stinko. Thus began the era when the Cleveland Browns re-claimed their position atop the division and there they reigned forever.

I want the Browns to be at the top of thier division, and I'll take it any way it happens..

But I'd prefer that our opponents not be a mess... That way it makes our stay at the top that much sweeter...

I'm actually sorry that Pitts, Balt and Cinci are having those troubles.. I want this division to be the toughest one out there.

Question on PUP list.. I saw Troy Pam.... was on placed on it.. Does that mean he can not play until mid-season or is being placed on PUP now different from JJ or Tucker??

I believe the Pre-Season PUP list only lasts up until the beginning of the season and then they either have to be moved to the active roster or placed on the PUP List again which will last atleast 6 weeks into the season.

Yeah, all these names you're seeing on the PUP list probably won't have any real effect once the reg. season begins. It just means they're being held out of camp for various reasons and most should be fine by September. The reg. season PUP list is entirely different.

On a side note... it is kind of refreshing to see other teams go through some adversity for once but at the same time, we all know too well that what goes around comes around and anything can happen. I won't breathe easy until camp is over.

One additional note on the preseason PUP list.... I'm fairly certain that players on PUP do not count against the regular 80-man roster, so you may see some players on it that maybe wouldn't normally need to be. It gives coaches & GM's a roster spot to look at another player**. With NFL Europe being defunct and rosters being smaller, I wouldn't be surprised a bit if we saw an abnormally large number of players on pre-season PUP.

**e.g. Polamalu, a guaranteed starter that probably doesn't need too many reps to get up to speed for the regular season.... a coach can afford to let him sit and get healthy without worrying that he's not gonna be ready... and then they can look at another player.

"I'm actually sorry that Pitts, Balt and Cinci are having those troubles.. I want this division to be the toughest one out there."

At first glance my first impression as I was reading the post was the same sentiment 100%. Then a funny thing happened - I started to think about it...lol

I'd strongly prefer us going through a soft division 6 games - and saving some of our gusto for the playoffs.

this was the case for the Pats every year as their division SUCKS!!

The Colts SB year there division was quite soft...not the case last year and we saw what happened to them as they went one and done.

Chargers get pretty far Finally because their division totally SUCKED!

Well if we had the toughest Division which right now we are close up there...we will get pummeled and what is left is a tough hurting team for the playoffs.

Cowboys - One and done and a lot of that had to do with their tough division.

Packers - easy division and they get in the NFC Championship game easily.

Giants...Finished strong healthy and Peaked for their run so its not an exact science but they didn't put their best product out there during the season.

So you know what...MACHOISM aside....PRIDE aside...give me a freakin push over division and we'll save our Macho Pride stuff for the Playoffs!!!

Frankly, I could care less if our division is strong or weak. What I care most about is whether we're strong or weak.

When we're a truly strong team, we'll beat every team that crosses our path (or most of them. It's pretty darn hard to beat every team, and even when you do, it doesn't guarantee you the big prize). What I want is a team that when you put them up against every other team, there's no way you can easily say "The Browns won't win that one."

I want it to be "I don't see how that team can beat Cleveland..."

It's called the Active PUP and players can stay on it until the final cut down, then either have to be activated, cut or put on the PUP and be out for six weeks. Purp is right, players on the Active Pup don't count toward the roster. If Joe J. or Tuck were to return during TC before any cut-downs, we'd have to lose a player to make room.

Didn't say I like it, only that this is how it begins... I still want to go out and physically stomp them.

6-0 in the division would be sweet.

I just saw on thier board that the tackle who replaced the tackle who hurt his ankle just hurt his ankle. So they are down to practise squad players at tackle.

I do find it all somewhat ironic... (Is the rock that was the Steelers Organization beginning to crumble? I personally hope not, that would be a shame.) Fortunately, we do still get to play the games. I'm finally looking forward to some division domination this year... Wow... that's weird.

6. Adam Terry just went down with terible pain. Will be carted off. Terry is screaming profanities and visibly in pain. Happened during a drill. Team moved away from him and went into prayer.

Man,DnD:... I just popped over there for a minute to read the page of posts. Did you read beyond the post you quoted?

This stuff is eerie... the tone on that board sounded so depressingly familar.

Dawgs... PLEEZ take just a minute to check out the Ratzfanz over there... and tell me if it don't send a shiver of familiarity down your spine.

Trust me- a minute or two is all it will take!

Indeed, that was a creepy peek into our past. Be it the year we lost Verba in the last preseason game or the year that we lost Bentley, or the year we lost Courtney Brown (pick one ).

We've been through a LOT of those years... it is ungodly sweet not being in that boat any longer [knocks wood]

I hear what you're saying, but look at the Giants. They had a hell-a-tough division and still won the Super Bowl.

After years of our division rivals kicking the poop out of the oft-injured, more-or-less expansion era Browns and then gloating about it as if it were a major accomplishment, I don't really care how injured any of them are. Winning is winning, and if their hardships give us an edge, so be it. The inverse was certainly true for longer than I'd care to remember. I don't wish injury on anyone, but I won't have any sympathy for a team that loses because its better players are hurt.

SO WHAT look at the Browns situation at center 2 years ago, or last year , I don't feel sorry for those teams, the Browns have had more injuries since 91 I don't think any other team could have had more.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
