2008 proved that the #2 SEC team is only 4 points better than the #4 Big Ten team. Also proven was that the #3 Big Ten team is better than the #3 SEC team.
2008 proved that the #2 SEC team was 4 points better than the #4 Big Ten team, on that day. And that the #3 Big Ten team was better than the #3 SEC team, ON THAT DAY.
I knew I'd see you here, and I knew you would be one of the first to defend the SEC.
I understand what you are noting about any team can win on any day, but, the examples I used included multiple teams, on multiple days, over two multiple years. - I'd say that's pretty consistent. Big Ten wins 3 over the SEC, and the SEC wins 3 over the Big 10.

Then please explain to me why it is if OSU plays another school that wins consistently, the majority of people with no personal preference root for the other team? If OSU were to play USC for the national championship, and consistantly winning and jealousy is the determining factor in who to hate, then they should be equally hated, but they're not... please explain. Where is your proof to back this up? BTW. I'm not from Ohio, nor a TOSU fan.

Stick to the east coast for your college football prognostications...You know not what you speak of out WEST... There are 4 to 5 Best coast teams that kick the crap out of each other in the Pac 10 every year... And then they ususally beat up on the soft 10 teams in bowls... Until osu east starts scheduling some one other than Youngstown State, Ohio and Troy there should be no talk of strength of schedule... Then the only other possible losses are against Michigan and Wisconsin... The rest of the soft ten wouldn't be 400 in the PAC 10... OSU West whipped DC's turtles, in the Emerald Bowl... And they so were beat up and hurt from Pac 10 play that they had the back ups to the backup playing in the bowl game...

Are you kidding me? You crack me up with that "soft schedule" garbage. We just finished playing texas 2 years in a row. Were going to play USC 2 years in a row. Then miami and oklahoma. Wisconsin, penn state and Ohio state could beat anyone in the pac 10.

Impressive. Now the SEC is rising in me....why does it take 3 season to get "revenge"??? But, I agree, sooner or later the Bucks will beat the SEC in a bowl game. Even I know we can't win them all.

Are you fricken serious??? Have you seen your schedule this year? Noticed you didn't sight it back... OSU has 1 game to worry about, period. USC in So Cal...Its OK for osu to loose that early in the year, with the weak suck schedule they have they could get back into the BCS hunt... Penn State? Give me a break they haven't done much in how long? Wisconsin, good team... Mentioned them in my reply. They would drop at least 2 maybe 3 games in the Pac Ten. They can't go to USC, Oregon, Cal, ASU, Without losing a couple. Or a even OSU West or UW or Wash St.without dropping another one... So no wrong again. Stick to what you know. Which isn't West coat Div. 1 college football.

Chattanooga, Cinci, at UW, TCU, at Baylor, Texas, Kansas, at KSU, Nebraska, at Texas A&M, TTU, and at Ok St
That's your mighty OU's schedule this year. Nice OOC schedule. The only real games I see there is of course the Red River Shootout, at A&M, TTU and Ok St.
Baylor at least as bad as any team in the BigTen. Kansas won't be near as good this year. NU hasn't been worth anything in years and is in Pelini's first year. A&M is always tough at home. TTU's been tough for OU in recent years IIRC, and Ok St. always plays well against OU

Maybe the reason why the pac-10 is so "great" is because they dont play any D. Oregon seems like their always in the 20s ASU 23...25...29...24...27 UCLA 22...19...34...25...23...Oh yeah they had 9 returning starts on D OSU 22...22...33...24...23... Cali..26...19...21...16...24...
I could go on and on but clearly the BIG TEN has had better defense. Oh its not like their "high powered offenses" would score 21+ against Wisconsin, penn state or OSU. Michigan wet the bed against oregon. Oh I gues penn state hasnt been relevant hmm...didnt they win a BCS game not to long ago?
Wisconsin and penn state could beat any of these teams. Hell illinois probabally could considering they have a good offense.
Washington Ucla OSU Stanford AZ ASU WSU Stick to what you know. Which is umm....

ohio state goes to wisconsin and to illinois
both top 20 teams.
add in usc, and they go on the road to 3 top 20 opponents.
what are you talking about?

Who has that schedule? Sorry Boise, I still think the only team in the Pac-10 that I might EXPECT to beat OSU is USC... that's not saying they wouldn't get upset once in a while if they played in that conference every year, just like USC does and just like Illinois did to them last year...

j/c DC.... here we go again with the out of conference schedule stuff... anybody know of the legendary Citadel's football tradition? well we'll see it when they take on Ballpeen's Florida Gators this season. Sam Houston State anyone? Ask the Kansas Jayhawks about that stellar matchup. Virginia Tech plays Furman, Florida St. plays Tenn- Chatanooga, Texas plays Florida- Atlantic, Miami (Fl) plays Charleston Southern, Auburn plays Louisiana- Monroe, Arizona St. plays Northern Arizona. We could go on all day. The NCAA could do something about this but won't. So please stop with this crap about how the Buckeyes don't schedule tough opponents, because no one schedules tough out of conference opponents.

Most teams try to schedule 1.. just like OSU. Funny thing is that some of them are scheduled so far in advance (or are based on a traditional rivalry) that the team you thought would be tough, isn't by the time the game rolls around. I mean look at FSU or Miami.. you could have scheduled one of those teams 4 or 5 years ago for a home and home thinking you were getting top 10 competition... but they just haven't been that good lately... all you can do is try.

What I'm talking about is the rest of games on osu's schedule...
There are little to no worries about winning the rest of the games on thier schedule... Nice to show up at the begining of your season knowing your team will be at the worst 9-3 or 10-2 or 11-2 depending on your season.
Thats as plain as english as can be written...
Can you guys not see or read the whole schedule? Look at the whole, big picture... Then get back to us/me about the schedule...

Every team in the PAC 10 has that schedule...? Huh... Get out of the box DC...
Mix in an notable independant and or a good WAC or Mnt West team and that is a typical PAC 10 schedule...
You can think what you want and expect what you want... That wouldn't and doesn't make you right. IMO, you are wrong. No team in the country can play a full PAC 10 schedule and go undefeated. Don't care what you easterners say, cause you just don't know...
You don't ever see me write that OU, USC, Oregon, Boise State, Cal, BYU or Utah would or could go to any other conference and do so and so... And all those teams have had significant BCS exsposure... I can't justify doing that and really you can't either.

Looch....give it up....here is our schedule this year.
8/30 Hawaii ESPN360.com 12:30 PM 9/06 Miami (FL) ESPN360.com 8:00 PM 9/20 @ Tennessee TBA 9/27 Mississippi TBA 10/04 @ Arkansas TBA 10/11 LSU TBA 10/25 Kentucky TBA 11/01 @ Georgia TBA 11/08 @ Vanderbilt TBA 11/15 South Carolina TBA 11/22 Citadel TBA 11/29 @ Florida State TBA
Our out of conference schedule is pretty darn tough, so do a little research before you start to call me out.
Our schedule matches up to anybody"s, and if you are honest, you will retract your statement..

Dude you should not even start with me...
Your Idaho Vandals are barely Div.1 . They play half their home games in the nearly condemned Kibbie hut... You do relaize that the only teams that you guys have a snow balls chance to beat are Idaho State, not Div. 1, Utah State, and maybe new Mexico State... The rest of the games in the WAC are losses too... SDSU and Western Michigan are losses as well. U of I may go winless this season...
Yes, I know we suck. We've come to enjoy it at this point. We're number One (hundred and nineteenth)! That said, we also have a better career win-loss record over Boise State than OU does.

In fact BK would give your Vandals a battle...
That's because BK gives out more scholarships.

I fail to see how Oregon State and Washington State are any better than those two schools. The Pac-10 just as good as the Big Ten. This year they are both one team conferences with Zona State and Illinois a possible surprise.
you had a good run Hank.

'Peen, the degree of difficulty of Florida's out of conference schedule hinges on how good Miami is. Most of the SEC teams are in a rebuilding mode.- With the exception of Georgia of course. I'm sorry but USC away, Wisconsin away, Illinois away, scares me more than what you guys face.

ohio state, usc, auburn, and texas all have won at least their regular season schedule.
that's 4 of the biggest conferences right there, and florida state did it 9 years ago.
so i don't think anyone can say that any conference is just "oh so tough" that it will never be a conference you can't run.
it's already been proven.

Thats the problem... You fail to see... How many bowls games and wins do the two teams that you mentioned from the Big 10 in the past few years? How many times have those two teams been ranked in in the top 25 to 40 recently? How many top 25 ranked teams have those two beaten?
Bottom line is it's all how you choose to look at it or see it...
WAC teams have beaten teams in the Big 10, at home and away so...

Every, season, year in and year out? USC can't... Teams can have a year run or so but those are rare in any conference... You OSU fans should know that... Take a look at the Bowl elegible teams from your conference how have they done in the past few years? Against Pac 10 or West coast teams? The argument won't fly... sorry... Not buying...
No Oaklahoma can't and hasn't... Have you wacthed them or followed them the past few years? And not quite two years ago OU got beat by Boise State, a WAC team in the Fiesta so how does that figure...?
