I'm still in the middle of my first season in NCAA, so I'm gonna wait to get Madden until I get a few draft classes from NCAA. Always makes Madden better when you're drafting real players...

Darn it, I still want to be able to substitute Cribbs in at QB, WR, and RB!

How is the game?
From what I hear it's really good. Looks like they fixed the Browns jerseys from what I saw on the net. Is that true? Game looks sweet though from the few videos I have seen. Gonna pick up my copy tomorrow morning. Not going to go to the Midnight release.

I'm still getting used to it.
Every year the secondary plays a little differently which means you need to re-learn the passing game. The Browns' playbook is totally different this year which is kind of a catch-22 because some of my bread and butter plays (PA TE Leak, in the redzone, for example) aren't there anymore, but the new formations are quite creative and resemble Chud's offense.
Good news is it seems like the touch on passes has been fixed...I'm not sure yet because I'm still throwing bullets out of habit (those who are not aware...good luck trying to throw a "touch pass" in 08, it's always underthrown and many times picked).
As for the jerseys, the lord giveth, the lord taketh away. This one's less of a big deal and not much of an eyesore, but the Browns have WHITE facemasks instead of grey in the game. Whether or not it's worthy of complaining about is up to you guys, personally, even though I originally complained about it I've gotten used to looking at the grey facemasks over the past two years.
I got the 20 year collectors edition, the extra features outside of NFL Head Coach 09 aren't worth it, but I haven't given NFL HC a go yet. I think I'll end up really really liking this version over last years' with some more play, I only got one game in last night before I needed to head to bed...running on 4 hours sleep right now, thank God I have a gap during the day to catch up on sleep between beforecare and aftercare.

I have it for the Wii. I was worried because of the ALL PLAY format that EA Sports went to for the Wii games this year. I hated NCAA 09 ALL PLAY and I was skeptical about Madden too.
My wife prebought me a copy of Madden and surprised me with the receipt to pick it up just before midnight. We picked it up and I was up playing it half the night.
Even with the simplified ALL PLAY controls, it was still a great game. I plan to turn off the ALL PLAY features once I get a feel for the game. I cannot pass worth a crap yet but #31 is a beast so who needs to pass. When I do complete a pass, #17, #80, #18 catch everything in their zip code. Just awesome.
Can't wait to try the Superstar and Franchise modes. Game has been awesome so far. As per expected, the graphics are nothing extra special but solid and the game controls are what the Wii is about anyways. The game flows smoothly but the stupid TD celebrations I could live without. You are supposed to wave the remotes alternately to get your player to dance more. Just a waste of time.
Signing Steinbach - $49.5 million Signing Lewis - $5 million Drafting Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn - millions more Restoring the Browns to champions - priceless.

PA TE Leak was my favorite play as it was almost uncoverable. My only gripe with it, was that PA always took to long, and ended many times in sacks. My number one wish in Madden was the ability to audible a PA play into a normal play keeping the routes. I always tried to make the play in the playbook editor but could never get the number 1 receiver route correct. Although I hear Head Coach gives a lot of options in the creating plays department.

I got it. You have to attempt to play an online game, then cancel once you get the roster if you don't wanna play.
First things first...the game is definitely better. It feels like a blend between last-gen Madden and current gen Madden (aka it combines the fluidity of the old Madden engine with the realism of the new engine). Player models look more like last-gen with much better graphics. Overall the game is bigger.
Something that bugs the hell out of me playing as the Browns: I can't get a passrush. Even with Rogers and Williams...I think I have 4 sacks in 5 games...some abysmal number like that, regardless of how much I blitz. If I simply rush 4 I get no rush at all...should be different with this year's squad...
The passing game is improved...in last year's game, despite having Donte Stallworth's higher rating, he was WORSE than Jurevicius because of his lack of height, it's almost like half the field was invisible to me. Not the case in this game...you can use Stallworth's routes in this game. In fact he's just as effective as Edwards in many cases. And yes, the deep ball and touch passing has been fixed.
But, it's harder to run the ball. I'm not giving up a ton of points or anything (around 14 per game) but I'm getting frustrated by being unable to generate 3 and outs.

This game is much harder to get used to than years past. I can't seem to score any points. Seems like I throw and INT or fumble every possession.

I had no problems with a pass rush. I was playing against the Phins and had 11 sacks in one game! Hehe. Rushing was also no problem as Lewis had 200 yards before the half and Harrison had 115 in the second half. I guess it's time I turned up the difficulty.

I was also nervous about the "all play" but the new Madden for wii is very good. I first played it on pro to get use to the controls again and pretty much blasted the titans out of the stadium. I guess the "all pro" turns off the all play controls which I will try later on tonight.

i really liked the way madden was going prior to the 360/ps3/nextgen...
madden 2006, which i believe was the mcnabb cover, was sooo good... i loved everything about that game... it was near perfect
when the 360 came out, and i switched over, it seemed like EA went bare bones on everyone, and still managed to rape 60 bucks out of people, horrible.
last year's was only slightly better, but just from playing this year's demo, it seems like it might actually be worth the money (i'm fortunate not to have to pay 60)

I think '05 was...in '06 they started with that passing cone garbage.
'04 had too many INT's. If my memory is right...

i was one of the few that didn't mind the passing cone, once you get the hang of it, you feel like it's more realistic, being able to sway defensive backs to one side of the field or the other

I even used it in last years game to move the LB and safety one way or the other. I thought it was a cool feature. A lot of friends of mine quit playing when it came out cause they couldn't really just chuck up a dream all the time.
With that said, I got the new one last night and it is pretty sweet. Though with the new Madden IQ test thing, it ranked me All-Madden in running the ball and defending the run, then it ranked me all-pro in passing and defending the pass. So from the get, I was facing some stiff competition.
I play under my bro's gamer tag on the 360: DrCarlSagan.

Pretty tough game.
I haven't lost a game yet. But it is much more difficult. Those Madden Moments are tough. I can't get past the Vikings situation. Down 19-3 and having to come back in 6min. Very tough.

Yeah, right now I did the madden test and right off the get go the running game seems a lot harder than the previous years. I mean it's hard, you really got to fight for rushing yards. The only thing I can't stand are having to get used to the controls, seriously I want sprint to be X, stiff arm to be R2 and L2, etc. But besides that I think it's a pretty good game, but I also hear some people saying it's crap and that EA is getting lazy so i guess some have issues with it. Oh well, I look foward to hearing what else you guys think about the game.

BIGGEST COMPLAINT: Who in the blue hell decided "So what if the slot receiver is lined up on the right? We'll still make L1 the button even if R1 is the most natural choice!"
I've been sacked too many times because of that.
I'm figuring out the coverages better now and am beginning to win by large margins, but the days of 400 yard passing and having all your receivers lead the league in yards while your RB is top 5 appear to be over.

Oh my God Ammo, that is exactly the same thing that happend to me last night. What the hell is up with that? if he's on the right is should be right bumber. Same if the back leaks out of the back field on that side. That was my default dump off last year. I got sacked at least 3 times cause I was hitting that bumper.
The madden test also crushed my Run game by grading me all madden. Then in the game It was damn hard to find daylight. I think the test is too easy with no real traffic to try and get through. Hell by the end of the test, i could just runn straight ahead and use the buttons only. At this point it's the only real complaint I have.
I still have to get used to the secondary. I'm not getting the knocked down passed like I'm used to. It feels like they don't quite reacted the same when you switch to them right away. I think this will just take some getting used to . no real complaint yet. only played two games.
The load times for a lot of the little stuff seem to have been eliminated which is Fantastic.Things like menus are definetely smoother. You can watch a replay really quick and easy without going to the start screen. I have to run or I'll be late for work so I cant elaborate, but I'm sure by the time I get home tonight, it will have been covered.

I have only played two or three games so far so too early to tell. I played my first game with the ALL PLAY controls and I smoked the Dolphins 99-7. Way too easy so I switched that controls off and played regular. I lost to the Patriots by 7.
The hardest time that I had was after I created a player (WR) I was trying to returns punts and if I had to run to catch a punt I could not get my guy to face the ball to catch it. Half the time it hit me and bounced away. A little frustrating.
I am thrilled with the game so far but I have had 8 hours sleep the last two nights because of that game! Bet my wife wishes she didn't buy me it now. Or was that her evil plan?

Okay, I figured out the problem with this years Madden. It's that stupid "Actioncam" camera setting. If you try to run a route to the flats, your won't be able to see your receiver, or the DB over there, so it will get picked a lot. I changed it back to the classic camera view.

That's messed me up a few times on NCAA too. R1 throws the ball away though in NCAA, so I've had a few intentional groundings called...

I punt...I use general football logic when playing Madden.
Actually the rewind feature has made me a lot better with my reads. I find myself using it less and less.

How do you switch the controls off and play regular? I went through all the options and I could not find anything for turning the controls off.

At the team select screen, where you pick uniforms and everything, just press "1" and it the "All play" thing goes away.

another thing I noticed last night that I thought was cool that I have never noticed before, it may have been in previous games, I dont remember.
Butlast night I was in the 4th quarter and as i was setting up for the GW FG with 3 seconds left on the clock, the crowd was chanting "Here We GO Brownies, Here We Go, WOOF WOOF"
kind of a cool touch.

There might even be a way to turn off the ALL PLAY during the game using one of the menus. Not 100% sure but I think I stumbled upon it. The easiest way is to turn it off on the team select screen like you mentioned.

Just be careful when you play with the regular controls. You have to quickly raise both the remote and the nunchuk at the same time to intercept a pass or to catch a pass. I don't know how many times I have done this and the cord between the two comes up and smacks me in the face! AHHH! LOL! I then get tackled because I can't see momentarily!

lol, I was playing NCAA 09 the other day against my fiance's brother and threw a long TD pass and raised my arms real fast and the cord went over my head and slapped me on the back of the neck. That REALLY hurt surprisingly.
