Just be careful when you play with the regular controls. You have to quickly raise both the remote and the nunchuk at the same time to intercept a pass or to catch a pass. I don't know how many times I have done this and the cord between the two comes up and smacks me in the face! AHHH! LOL! I then get tackled because I can't see momentarily!

lol, I was playing NCAA 09 the other day against my fiance's brother and threw a long TD pass and raised my arms real fast and the cord went over my head and slapped me on the back of the neck. That REALLY hurt surprisingly.

It's happened to me so many times.

Ya.

Thank God EA will come out with a patch soon.

I hope it improves the friggin' PASS RUSH too. I was last in the league in sacks yet I blitz constantly.

19-0 though...yes, I play on Pro cuz I like to dominate. I can win consistently on All-Pro though.

How is that even fun? You go into every single game knowing you'll win and the only question is by how much. It's like having Michael Phelps race kids at the Y because he knows he'll win.

Much more fun playing without all-play, keep that for kids. I like having it on all-pro, gives a nice challenge with a few loses but not super challenging like all-madden.

Does anyone else find the Bengals very hard to beat?

Saw a commercial for a Madden 09/PSP pack, where a bunch of guys are standing in line to buy it. There was a guy in the background in a Browns hard hat, and the main guy in the commercial was wearing a Quinn jersey and a Browns necklace.

Showin' us some love.

How are the visuals for the Wii version?

This should be the year where they actually tap the Wii's power because unlike 07 (rushed for launch) and 08 (less than a year to work on the game), they had a full year to tweak and improve the game.

I won't be getting it cuz I already have the PS3 version, but maybe when it lowers in price I'll consider a used copy. I love the idea of being able to draw your WR's routes out.

Hey, this question is maninly directed to the Ps3 user like myself. When your WR is about to recieve a pass from the QB and there's a defender nearby a little circle pops up and you have a time window to press triangle to catch the ball? Has anyone else noticed this, does it work if you're about to recieve a hard hit? Because I've had balls thrown right at my guys and some have dropped it, is it because I didn't press triangle at the right time?

So I went to Wal Mart today to pick up a copy since I was out that way but I decided to hold off for a bit. Do all Wii copies say Madden All Play on the cover? I noticed the Wii version was the only one to have it. I wanted to double check before purchasing it.

I believe so.

I just went to Best Buy today and picked me up a copy. Just started in franchise mode and did a lil trading and am about to play my 1st game when I had to jump online. The looks are pretty sweet and from everything I have been reading it's gonna occupy a lot of my time b/w this and NCAA

No. The Wii version is the only one to have All Play.

How is the 3-4 defense in this one? In all the old ones, it didn't matter how good your NT was, he was never double teamed and it made the 3-4 almost useless. I was planning on picking up Madden tomorrow and was really hoping to find out if the 3-4 in a viable option with the new game.

still that way it seems to me, don't seem like i can do anything with rogers, tho williams have some nice finesse moves. and Leon starts over andra , and even with the updated roster, baxter is still on there and the nickel back

Madden online is starting to tick me off.

Everyone keeps quitting cuz they can't stop the Browns offense. I don't even do anything special. I don't let them beat me deep and I throw underneath unless I see man coverage.

I thought I was in a good game with a guy playing with the Niners, I just went up 14-7 before halftime and he quits on me.

I plan on buying it for my Wii, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't about to purchase an ALL PLAY only version. But it looks to not be the case so I'll probably pick it up here next week or something.

Triangle is the catch ball button, it just pops up to tell you what to hit if you prefer to "manually" make the catch rather than letting the computer do it for you. It was the same way in the last couple Madden games. I always catch the ball this way so that I can make adjustments to the ball, especially if I see a defender poised to jump the route.

Just a rant...

I hate how they make these rookie backs virtually unstoppable (like Reggie Bush his rookie year). McFadden is sick in this game.

There was a baseball game on the Wii that did this to me, too! My girlfriend fell over laughing, which made me feel LOADS better.

I really didn't enjoy last year's Wii Madden. Is this year's different/better enough that I should give it a try?

I think it is much better. No more drumming the remotes to run. I can't stop playing this game, I love it. (guess I'll have to stop for a couple hours tonight about 8pm to watch the real team!)

As mentioned, you can turn off the ALL PLAY controls and play normal.

This one is a lot better than last years, I mean by a mile. I usually don't play online games that often but lastnight I thought I'd give it a try. So anyway I signed on hit play now and the computer pared me up with some guy names Steelers2626 who proceded to pick the Rams while I chose our Brownies.

Since this was my first online game in quite awhile I thought I was going to get toasted and the score was going to be something like 50-3 and there was going to be a lot of lag. But lucky for me the game went great, it was a close one that went into overtime and I won it in a most unexpected way. We did the coin toss, I losses so I kicked it off to the guy and coming down the field 2 of my guys just flat out plant the KR and there's a fumble, which Baxter scoops up and runs to the house winning the game on the first play of OT.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the lag situation was with that game, and believe me I've seen lag, you know what I'm talking about Dawgpound017 with MLB the show 08. But seriously, if you haven't gotten the game because you think it may be bad, well it's not. While the game controls took some getting used to(sprint button being R2), the gameplay is liquid smooth and you can finally feel that darn 60FPS.

If you have the money by all means get the game.

Yeah, that lag was bad.

It could possibly have been me. I had the cable company out here last week. I was having problems with one of my cable boxes, and my internet was going out here and there for hours at a time. He said the signal might have needed to be stronger. Haven't had a problem with the internet yet, but haven't played The Show to see if the lag is still there.

Hopefully the lag wasn't on my end, and it was just their servers.

Best Madden on the new game systems by far. (360 and PS3) And imo...the best Madden ever. It rivals ESPN 2k5 as far as fun and a real NFL experience.

Two thumbs up....a near 10.

ever since EA started letting you use the analog stick to create your shot in the NHL series, it has really outdone itself, and most other sports games

including madden.

Been playing around with it for the past 2-3 days. SO far I like it, dont see it as a huge upgrade to last year. I dont like the new playbooks for the browns now (no more PA TE Leak). I am also having major trouble with the pass rush, it still seems that the 3-4 is not taken into account as a different defense and the NT is not doubled at all... So far I think the game is too easy, the madden test of skills seems to be fairly shallow without any real depth, I would seriously like to see someone get an all madden ranking on the pass coverage skills. Overall I can not tell a big difference from last year other than playing defense is harder. Unless I blitz a CB can not seem to get any sort of a pass rush or move the Oline.

My gamertag is AndraDavis4MVP if any one wants to add me or play a game online, always looking for people to play with.

i would suggest playing last years version again. Because thats a flat out lie.

The graphics have been a huge upgrade, as has the overall presentation. I havent got a chance to play enough games yet to give a fair comparison on the game play, but in the few games I have played, it seems to be much better in that respect as well. Not sure what else you were expecting, maybe holograms?

on a presentation level, madden 09 is an amazing improvement over past maddens. i actually find myself really liking chris collinsworth's commentary. obviously there are technical limitations as you'll hear repeat comments but at least the comments have some accuracy to them for the most part.

the backtract/rewind segment definitely caught a lot of early heat but i think it's a feature that sticks. you can adjust it if you absolutely hate it but i doubt there is anyone who would not use it if the opportunity arose (if you use hardcore mode, you're not given any rewinds). further, i think it helps you get better in the game because you remember you mistake that much more. a re-enforced cause-and-effect kind way.

i both like and dislike the idea of the madden iq and the way the game adjusts to how you perform. i used to only play in all-pro because i like the slightly more arcade feel where you can put up big points and get turnovers but playing with the madden iq, i'm forced to play in all-madden except for the rush defense, simply because the initial test is rediculously difficult. difficult isn't even the right word as, for whatever reason, the RB in that test broke every tackle regardless of test level.

the one thing though, with the faster pace the game has, it feels slightly unrealistic. i don't know about you guys but i thought the speed in madden 08 was more realistic. want to try running with DA? you'll be punished. in 09, he doesn't quite feel as big and slow as he actually is.

stallworth seems to be a non-factor in the deep balls but it could just be the difficulty as long plays are very hard to connect at the high levels anyways.

i think the d-line in the game is pretty decent, i just wish that they added double-teams so the 3-4 nt would actually take up blocks instead of having three lineman wait for a one-on-one with the nt.

martin rucker is a GREAT 2nd TE, which is amazing considering we got him so late in the draft (to get a mid-70s rating where he was picked is nice considering that's usually given to 2nd-3rd round picks, maybe EA cutting us some slack). the double-TE set with winslow/rucker can't be stopped.

The biggest gripe I have with the game so far is the messed up commentary. I have played about 6 games and every game I get one line that is messed up. In the first game of the season, Edwards caught a TD pass late in the 3rd quarter and Collinsworth said that he has just went over the 1000 yard mark on the season. Next game, DA completes a pass and Collinsworth says that he just went over 4000 yards on the season.

I used one rewind in this game. The first game I played, I wasn't exactly sure how it worked, so I set the game for 1 rewind just to see what it was, and used it on an extra point lol.

yea but it doesn't really bother me when you think about how much dialogue they try to record in order to make the commentary feel genuine. i think it's the best they've done so far and really, that's all i can expect from them. at the very least, it's definitely better than that crappy radio commentary from 08 and before. since it's the first year of it, i'm pretty satisfied with it.

I actually really like Collinsworth commentary, I havent heard any glitches yet, but the stuf I have heard from him has been very realistic, maybe its just because Ive been listening to the same Maddenisms for the last 15 years and that makes Collinsworth sound spectacular.

J/C....

So I recently had Anderson go down with an injury. I picked up Culpepper because I wanted security in case Quinn went down. Brought him out for a series of downs to make sure he didn't suck in the game, and he gets hurt on his very first play, 12 weeks. Oh well, I threw him on the IR and went to pick up another...much cheaper guy on the FA list because I didn't like Dorsey when I used him in preseason.

Then it tells me that I'm over my roster limit and can't sign someone even though I had just placed Culpepper on the IR. Waited a week to see if it needed time to process and I still couldn't pick anyone up. So I just sweated it out for two more weeks until DA came back. I hate glitches like that I even tried cutting Culpepper to see if you can reach an injury settlement to untie up his roster spot but it won't let you.

IR on Madden has never worked as it should. It's basically a pointless feature because it doesn't clear a roster spot for you.

I don't mean to brag, I just need to talk about this because of how pumped up I am about it.

I was playing against a guy who was playing as the Patriots (I ALWAYS play as the Browns...always).

I drive down the field with 30 seconds left in the first half to kick the field goal and go down 14-10. I come back in the 2nd half with the ball and score to go up 17-14.

Guy throws up a prayer to Welker with a minute left to go up 21-17. I still have all my timeouts, he has none. I see Stallworth get by the corner and I throw deep. Touchdown. But there's 48 seconds left. I scored too quickly.

Throws up another prayer to Welker which takes him down to the 12. 12 seconds left and I have a feeling he's gonna roll out. I don't like my play, timeout. Call a corner blitz, sure enough it works, sacked. Ballgame. 24-21 Browns.

I'm still pumped up after this one.
