My question or dilemma is what is the correct forum to post articles dealing with i.e.:

1) Other NFL teams transactions, posters' personal opinions on a particular team and
news re their personnel (FO, Players, Coaches) where it is only relative to football.

2) News on the the business side of Pro Football. For example, the ownership of the Pittsburgh Steelers which is now going through a restructuring process.

I know other forums I've visited have a special designated forum that explicitly is titled as for example "Around The NFL"; NFL' Bs; General NFL News etc. etc.

This is a great forum, mostly because of it's active membership and involvement but, I do find the definition of few forums hard to cÔmprehend sometimes as in posting topics such as the aforementioned. Please help me out here, as I want to be a member in good standing and respect the integrity of the board. Thank you.

If it's about football, then it goes in Pure Football. One thing that tends to confuse people at times is when something is about a football player, i.e. Chris Henry getting arrested. That is about a football player and not about football.

But if it was about Chris Henry getting released, that would be about football right?

The simplest way to look at it is ..... if it affects the team itself, its operation, structure, or play on the field, then it's Pure Football.

A player getting arrested isn't PF. That player being released or suspended is, as it directly affects the team.

A coach being fired or promoted is PF. A coach volunteering at a youth camp isn't.

A player breaking a football record is PF. A player recording a record isn't.

A team being sold is PF. A team selling tickets in a different fashion than they had before isn't.

Wow after reading that, it seems even more confusing, I hadn't given it that much thought.

So I'm guessing the non PF posts would go to tailgate lot, but those seem so football to me, I guess I'll just keep it in my mind as either On the field, or Off the field, but thats not completely acurate. I guess what I'm saying is if its on the field, I'll know its, maybe, pure football.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

If news is directly impacting the team itself, then it goes in PF. A player being arrested, as an example, doesn't directly impact the team until such time as he is suspended or released. Thus an arrest is not PF, and goes in Tailgate. A suspension or release is PF, because it impacts the team.

Strategies, on the field happenings, front office moves, personnel moves, hirings and firings and teams being sold would be some examples of PF topics. A player seting up a youth organization, a coach getting a divorce, etc., are not PF because they do not directly impact the team.

Hopefully a Ref will come along and clarify it further.

I don't know that it can be clarified any further than the way you've already summarized it so well, and i thank you for the assist.

Cool thanks, I have always come across some that I wasn't sure which forum they fall under. That is clearer.

You'd be amazed at what people don't understand. Like....creating a thread in the shack, and then not understanding why fans of other teams respond to it.

or that this thread is to discuss forum protocol and not take little juvenile pokes at people.

For me it was the description:
Quote:

Discuss the Cleveland Browns and other related PURE NFL football topics here; Players, Coaches, FA options, etc, as they pertain to the game of football in the NFL. Not to be confused with the "Gameday" forum, which is utilized for discussion of this week's game.

Where Chris Henry is a "player", so him being arrested would be about a football player. Now the part of "as they pertain to the game of football" is somewhat subjective depending on how you read it. Being that his arrest would affect the team.

Now interjecting "as they DIRECTLY pertain to the game of footbal" would read as little different.

But to be honest, I am a skimmer, I don't think I ever read the description word for word before.

I see your point, however if one were to read the description of the Lot
Quote:

A forum for fans to discuss things outside of pure football. Buy/sell game tickets, talk about the Tribe and MLB, the Cavs and the NBA, Buckeyes and the rest of the NCAA, other sports, current events, TV/Satellite listings for games and/or player appearances, professional athlete police blotter reports, and getting together for tailgates. NFL Draft discussion goes here as well until the off-season draft forum is created.

one could assume that an arrest would go there

Arrests DO go there.

An arrest of a football player is not a Pure Football topic, as it is not about football-it is about a football player.

perhaps I should have typed should instead of could, that way my inference would have been a statement.

That being said, I've always thought the description of the Lot made it pretty clear which "football" threads should go there instead of Pure Football
