CoachB, have you talked to Stan Jefferson this week? Any word?
I am hoping that this is somewhat of a smokescreen. Feel free to PM me if you have anything good from Stan, or any of your contacts regarding Beanie's status...

Sneak off with them, it's not like it's your wedding or your siblings wedding. It's just a cousin.

My parents would be really happy about that. Me going off with some 20 something year olds, away from my cousin's wedding.

I guess we'll see. I will take Carol vs.Tressel any day or game of the season.
His record alone speaks for itself. I'm not a USC fan. Its a good day in my world when the Tojans lose. Same for OSU.

Life isn't fair. If you have something to say say it. To say nothing, means nothing.
There is a reason they play the games.

I have a funny feeling we are going to pull it out. Tough D and just enough O to win. Something lucky will happen to us. (as I sit here in my Buckeyes sweatshirt with a Browns t-shirt under it )

I have a feeling he'll play - I don't know how affective he'll be.

He should just sit this out...him playing and being no good is even worse than him being out. Sure Saine and Herron arent as good but their better than Wells at 40%.
If he plays and isnt effective this one will get out of hand in a hurry. I think the Buckeyes made a booboo saying much and now they are kinda reniging a bit. I dont think he'll play, I think tressel was tellin the truth saying he was doubtful...the massive wave of attention and doubt forced the buckeyes to give some hope!

If Beanie can put any type of pressure on his foot, he is going to play. I was a little pissed when Tressel came out and blatantly said Beanie will play on Saturday, way to early to make that kind of statement. IMO, the rest is a smokescreen to cover his a** in case beanie really can't go. Personally i think beanie will start.
I'm really looking forward to this game, and i love the fact that no one is giving us a chance to win.

Ohio State's Wells won't play Saturday against No. 1 Trojans LOS ANGELES -- Ohio State running back Chris "Beanie" Wells will not play for the fifth-ranked Buckeyes against No. 1 Southern California on Saturday night. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel made the announcement late Friday afternoon after the team went through a 40-minute walkthrough at the Los Angeles Coliseum. "He's been getting treatment 15 times a day," Tressel told the assembled media just minutes after he told his team of the decision. "I guess if looks could kill he fought me. I just told the team because it's important our guys know what we thought we should do." The Trojans (1-0) will be playing their first game since an impressive 52-7 victory Aug. 30 at Virginia. Ohio State (2-0) has beaten in-state opposition Youngstown State 43-0 and Ohio University 26-14. Wells, who rushed for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, injured his right foot in the opener and without him, the Buckeyes had to rally to beat the lightly regarded Bobcats last weekend. Tressel said early in the week that Wells would play, but it was a different story Thursday, when he said the 6-foot-1, 237-pound junior was doubtful because of lingering soreness in his foot. Redshirt freshman Dan Herron, sophomore Brandon Saine and senior Maurice Wells shared the carries for Ohio State against Ohio University. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3584806Im sorry but without beanie we dont have a shot in hell.

I really don't think even with Beanie OSU would win. USC is primed for this game, and if OSU keeps it close their fans should be thrilled. Good luck to both teams.

boy, that's tough, definitely a blow, but at least we know, and the focus can go to the actual game now.
the odds are stacked against the buckeyes, hopefully that will bring out the best in them.
when people doubt tressel and the bucks, it seems like they usually play their best football.
but man is it going to be tough. if they win, it will not be pretty, it will be one of those games where the defense just plays out of their mind

The only positive thought I have on this game is the Miami team OSU beat in the NC game was better then SC's team now. So its not impossible for OSU to win. People were saying Miami would destroy us. The difference between the championship buckeye team and this years team is at QB and RB. Krenzel was smart with the football and made some game saving plays. Maurice Clarrett was a clutch RB and we dont have Beanie.

Yes, unfortunately even when they had Beanie Wells I wasn't entirely sure they were going to win, now I'm almost certain we will lose this game. My biggest worry is that just like in our 2 Nat. Champ. appearences our o-line will suddenly turn into swiss cheese and collapse.
I my book we win by being able to get the ball out quick and keep on pounding them with the spread O.
Find what you love and let it kill you.

we do have some good freshmens...Posey and Pryor need to be used at key times in this game if we want to have a chance....at the same time we shouldn't get carried away and game plan around them....i do expect Pryor to be used a LOT...but i'm not sure if thats such a great idea since he hasn't even seen a big ten game yet...it's a catch 22...use him too much and you will get the rookie mistakes that we can't afford...use him too little and we might not have a shot at all...

A defense that was one of the best in the country, returning 9 starters, and giving up 40 points? I think you've been watching too much ESPN.

When OSU is on Offense: We will need all 3 rbs to play out of their minds. Tod Boeckmen can not afford to make mistakes in this game. Get Pryor 15 snaps in this game. Try to get Devier Posey and Ray Small in the game. We need their speed. The O-line must play with a attitude. Robiske and Hartline cant afford to drop easy passes. They are going to get hit hard by taylor mays and USCs linebackers.
When OSU is on Defense: USCs WRs will have to step up. Malcom Jenkins should shut them down. USC rotates 4 rbs to keep them conditioned. Joe McKnight is a reggie bush clone. Laurinautis and Freeman will have to play the game of their lives. The D-line MUST get pressure on Marc Sanchez. USCs weakness is on the o-line.

weren't we #1 D last year? most of the points will come towards the end of the game when our D will be tired as hell from being out all day... it will be 21-3 going into the half and then things will start moving for both teams..
I sure do hope i'm wrong...

mark may said usc is going to win by 4 touchdowns, i lol'd.
to see the look on his face if the buckeyes pull this off tonight, would be priceless.
they are not going to lose by 4 touchdowns.
as bas as the florida game was, they only lost by 24, and that was a debacle. i don't see a repeat of that happening tonight, most certainly considering they played last week, and not 2 months ago.

I cannot believe he seriously said that. If only Lou Holtz was there to put him in his place.
I will be shocked if either team scores 30, and also don't think the margin will exceed 10.

I think Mark May and Elton Alexander from the PD are the same person. EA says 38-17. He picks against OSU at least half the time just so he can say he's right if they do lose IMO...
Joe Thomas made Justin Timberlake change his name. He didn't want wusses to have the same initials...

I see an SC blowout. I don't think Boekman (sp?) is capable of keeping this team in the game w/o an excellent running attack. The line has been swiss cheese for the first two weeks, the D has been solid, but when you give a team like them 50 yard fields, it's gonna get ugly.
For us to pull it out, we're gonna need at least two td's not from the offense (pick 6, punt return) and probably about 200 combined yards rushing from the three rb's and Pryor.

...j/c This game is going to be ugly. In my opinion, USC is going to want to blowout the Bucks. Let me stress that again, they aren't just trying to win the game, they want to demolish them. And I think they have all the weapons to do so. It doesn't hurt that they're at home and Beanie is out. I already game by score prediction above.....I'm hoping the game is close because I want to watch a good game tonight (I have this uneasy feeling we'll be subject to two night game blowouts this weekend - one tonight and one tomorrow - ).

If I didnt watch college football and only read this thread, I would think OSU was a lowly MAC team going against the Dallas Cowboys.
