Typical RAC. I'm not ready to fix it just yet, lets wait until the season is lost then I'll get off my ass and make a decision.

I wonder what those would be and who would be put in?

The sad part is right now I really dont even care what Romeo and says. The playoff hopes are completely gone. Romeo is an idiot but we will stick with him. DA looks like Frye before he was sent packing. The only hope left for this season is that the Browns dont get embarrassed to bad in their 4 primetime games. hopefully flex scheduling will remove that error in judgement also.

Hopefully this means Crennel is planning on doing the same thing Tressel did with Pryor and Boeckman this past week.

Hell, I think I'll start calling Anderson "Derek Boeckman." Seems fitting enough.

This is what they call a players coach

I want a coach that calls out his players and lets them know that they are sucking. I have been a fan of RAC, but since the end of last season, and the many many press conferences where he says the same blah blah blah.... didin't make enough plays..BS, I can't back him anymore.

Even in this article, he still can't seem to make the decision that everyone seems to know he needs to make.

Anderson's concussion could be having a lot to do with his poor performance. Timing and cohesion does help a team execute better. Quinn played the last preseason games and did have more time to play with the starters, maybe he would fare better, maybe not, but it has to be found out. If he struggles, you can always give Anderson some time to regroup on the bench and if needed put him back in. It doesn't have to be a permanent situation.

Waiting until after the bye IMO is just a waste of time. Do it now. DA is suffering with a lack of confidence after these three games. Put Quinn in this week, see how he does. If he clicks, use the bye week to work on the changes that will be needed to be made to the gameplan.

There will be no playoffs this year, they need to look to fine tune these young players, so maybe "next year" they can make a legitimate run.

Yeah, I'm just so shocked.

All year long people we worried about him, but we were just labeled as "haters."

I never hated DA. Until yesterday.

Our last 2 games were very winnable. And contrary to what some our saying our defense isn't that bad, they just need to spend less time on the field.

Very true. Our D looked bad last year, then started tightening up some towards the last month. They looked bad against Dallas, but a lot of defenses do. I thought they played well against the Steelers, and that is on top of all our injuries. They looked pretty solid the first half against Baltimore, but our offense put them in tough positions. One thing lacking still is significant pressure. We just can't seem to get enough.

If our offense plays like last year, and our D plays like it had the last 2 weeks, we can go places.

Don't cross that line dude.

Pro players are paid. If they don't get it done, booing is one thing

Start talking about a college kid busting his chops but not getting it done is another.

If my kid was a pro player and you booed him, it would hurt, but i would get over it dismissing it for whatever made me feel good.

Start booing my college kid, I wouldn't just come over and say something, I would come over and hurt you.

Leave the college kids out of it past the normal.

Maybe Boeckman isn't the best, but he doesn't earn enough to hear to your crap.

Really, friendly advice.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Agreed.............when they started booing Todd after the incompletion Saturday it peed me off to no end. I am as big a Buckeye fan as anyone, but to boo a kid who has given his all to the program is ridiculous. I was as glad to see Pryor do as well as he did, but that doesn't mean you should boo the other kid who is trying his absolute best........and always has. Unfortunately, these type of "fans" (and I use the word in the loosest sense) are typical around college football's big programs right now.

A pro ball player is fair game, because he draws a check to play ball, and to take the criticisms and pressure that comes with the media. A college player does not.

Way too many whiny bitch fans have gravitated to the bucks since Tress arrived. They think that they are entitled to something and have no idea what it means to be a buckeye.

I was told that they boo'd TB on saturday while I was backpacking in the UP and I felt ashamed.

Watch DA's press conferences and tell me that the guy doesnt care. He looks very dissapointed in his pressers.

Some people just dont get it. There are alot of them here and there alot of them everywhere.

Boo the pros.........keep the boos out of the NCAA

For the record, Harrison's TD was a 19-yard play and doesn't qualify as a 20-yard or better one.

"There's no hard evidence that he will have more success."

That is the dumbest statement I've ever read. There is no hard evidence because there is NO evidence because Quinn hasn't played yet. At one time way back when, there was no hard evidence that Payton Manning would have any success in the NFL. At one point in time there was no hard evidence that Tom Brady would have success. However, there is an abundant amount of very hard evidence that Derek Anderson will not have success in the NFL.

You need to listen to the press conference (without bias) and the question he was actually asked, and then you'd understand that answer.

He had just explained some of the problems with the offense and had already said that they were going to get Quinn prepared and give him more reps this week so that if they decide that a change is needed he will be better prepared.

He was then asked by Mary Kay of the Plain Dealer, " With the injury situation and the absence of Stallworth and just the inconsistancies, what makes you think that, perhaps, Brady would have any more success with what's going on with the offensive right now?"

His answer was: "If we decided to go with him we'd just have to put it on the fact that what we've seen in practice and what we feel that he's able to do. You know, because there's no hard evidence that says he will have more success."

You have to listen to the press conference and not form your opinions based on snippits from the news paper. As you interpreted it he doesn't want to play Quinn because there's no hard evidence that he will have more success.

Too many on here credit RAC with stupid comments when they are actully hearing those comments out of of context. Others call his answers dumb or stupid sounding when in fact, he is asked the same dumb and stupid questions over and over and he merely answers them in the manner in which they were asked.

BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel is not ready to announce he's benching quarterback Derek Anderson just yet.

But Crennel and the Browns are at the point where they want to make sure highly-touted backup Brady Quinn is prepared to play in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Let's see...........In the AFC, it's likely that it'll take a 10-6 record to at least have a shot at the wildcard. That means we'd have to go 10-3.

That ain't happenin'.

So it's not a question of IF we're going to see Quinn, but when. Truth be told, I believe that unless Anderson comes out red-hot against the Bengals, we'll see Quinn at some point during the game. Furthermore, no matter what, Quinn will get more starters reps after that, and unless Anderson is going along at a pro-bowl clip, he'll find the bench more and more as we take our extended look at Quinn.

You excited yet, Diam?

I haven't gotten into the QB discussion mainly because I don't get the chance to watch many games (sucks living in East TN). I rely on you guys' eyes and knowledge to form my opinion (I'll leave that up in the air as to whether that's a good thing to do )

So I went and did about all I could do and took a look at the stats. (Yeah, I know stats are for losers) The last game DA had a QB rating above 80 was the Jets game last year.

In the 6 games since DA is 92-185 for 944 yards with 5 tds and 10 ints. 51.28 QB rating (according to this). Throwing out the blizzard game against Buf his QB rating actually lowers 83-161 for 807 yards with 5 tds and 10 ints. 50.40 QB rating. In his last 5 games, he's averaged 16.6-32.2 for 161.4 yards with 1 td and 2 ints. (All stats from nfl.com)

Sometimes, the stats don't lie

All that being said, if Brady isn't starting after the bye, I'm gonna have to fully jump on the fire RAC bandwagon (as somebody said earlier, I've got a foot and a half already there).

Shocking: After three losses and five interceptions, Derek Anderson's job is at risk

By Andy Behrens

http://f3.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_fan...mb.XDADml0dAThD

At this point, it should actually be no surprise that many Browns observers are ready for the Brady Quinn era to begin:

Over his last eight games -- half of an NFL season -- (Derek) Anderson has a quarterback rating of 58.2. He has thrown nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions as the Browns have gone 3-5. With this season already lost, it’s time for the Browns to find out what they have in Brady Quinn.

It also wouldn’t be a bad idea to call Bill Cowher, and see if he has any plans for 2009.

The Browns are 0-3, they've scored only 26 total points in three games, and Derek Anderson's QB rating is 43.5. Cleveland gets the Bengals on the road in Week 4, and if Anderson struggles against that defense, he's in serious trouble.

He knows it, too:

"I expect more out of myself.," Anderson said "I expect more of everybody else on this team. I just have to calm down, so I don’t lose it (the starting job)."

The seven percent-owned Quinn is a nice speculative add today. Cleveland still has a few respectable weapons. We'd like to tell you to avoid Anderson in Week 4, but...well, it's Cincinnati. Still, he clearly has little margin for error.

---------

Man just look at those numbers in his last 8 games QB rating of 58.2. That is exactly who i want leading this team .

Had Anderson finished last year the way he started, he'd have a lot more wiggle-room. Unfortunately for Derek, he didn't play well to finish the year, and has played very poorly to start this one. He has an injury reason as to why he hasn't started out hot, but that only lasted the first two games. His poor play against the Rats no longer had an injury excuse to fall back on. He simply played like crap.

So........It's just like week two of last year! Anderson has one more start to prove he belongs.........against the Bengals...........or Quinn gets handed the job he was drafted to do.

The similarities are shocking.

If number 3 does start how short of a leash do you think he has? What would it take for romeo to put in BQ. Does it take a couple interceptions, some misreads, bad throws, sacks? I still dont think starting number 3 is the right thing to do because if he comes in here against a defense that isnt stellar and plays "decent" we are going to be stuck with him for longer and lets just pray that doesnt happen.

If I may,...my take on your question is ONE series,...he goes 3 and out, jerk him. ANYTHING better than 3 and out, he gets to stay. The whole game if you want--just do better than 3 and gone so it helps the defense out.

QB one of many problems for Cleveland

September 23, 2008 2:30 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's James Walker

Derek Anderson had perhaps his worst game as a pro on Sunday, completing just 14 of 37 passes and throwing three interceptions.

It's too difficult to change the No. 1 receiver, who is struggling to get open and catch the football this season.

It's a major undertaking to alter the right side of the offensive line that's being manhandled by opponents.

A team simply cannot overhaul its linebacker corps that's giving up tons of rushing yards or a secondary that's not covering receivers.

So the easiest solution is to yank the starting quarterback.

Such is life in the NFL. Derek Anderson likely will be the first to lose his starting job for the Cleveland Browns because the signal-caller often makes the biggest impact in games.

Already on a short leash, Anderson put himself in this position by having arguably the worst performance of his career, throwing for 125 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions on Sunday. He was the biggest reason the Browns lost 28-10 to the Baltimore Ravens. But there were probably a half-dozen other reasons Cleveland lost the first two games of the season, none of which prompted a lineup change.

Yet bringing in Brady Quinn, or at least considering the move, is the right thing to do at this point because it shakes things up. He would bring confidence and a newfound energy to the position, which is something that Anderson is definitely lacking right now.

But don't expect Quinn to block, catch a pass or play solid defense. Add in a plethora of injuries, and there are just too many leaks on this team for one player to patch up this once-stable ship.

If there is a silver lining, it's that the Browns play a winnable game on the road this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns will not let Anderson lose this game. If he starts and struggles, he won't finish. If Quinn outshines Anderson in practice this week, there's a chance Anderson could hold a clipboard entering Sunday's game.

Cleveland head coach Romeo Crennel says he's looking at all positions, but everyone knows that's not realistic. The Browns don't have a first-round pick on the bench ready to replace Braylon Edwards, or Kevin Shaffer, or Kamerion Wimbley, or Eric Wright, or Brandon McDonald, or any other Brown that's not playing well.

And the next head coach is ......

Is Kevin Shaffer playing poorly? I think this is the best we've seen of him in a Browns uniform thus far. He's finally got the footwork down and he's not getting beat one on one.

Now he has a pass blocking turnstile in Hadnot but that's another thread all together.

I would say that Terrell Suggs likes the way he is playing. I saw him get beat at least twice that I can think of on Sunday.

Lets say number 3 has a bad game goes 15-30 with a TD and 2 interceptions and 3 sacks. Does he still play against NYG or do you let the new guy go in there in probably our biggest primetime game this year? I hope we dont have to see him out there much longer

He probably won't make it past that 2nd INT.

Hell, he might not make it past the first drive.

I see it like this: I don't think Romeo has lost the team yet, but I do think DA has lost the offense...when he set Winslow up to be killed by Ray Lewis, I think that point is clear. Braylon it is quite clear has no confidence in DA just watch the body language.

Our D is demoralized because they know the O will do nothing.

I personally think starting Brady Quinn "now" is the right answer for various reasons:

1. Brady Quinn is cocky, confident and arrogant just like Kellen winslow...he bring fire to the huddle.

2. Brady won't hang guys out to dry

3. The O will probably play much harder for Brady because they have lost confidence in DA

4. Since the O probably will have more success, this should jump start our Defense to play much better, especially if a Quinn led O begins scoring points(and they will) our D will no longer be demoralized and will begin to play much harder

we have no choice but to go with Quinn...Da has lost the team, I know none of the players will say it in public, but I can tell by their body language that the team in general is very upset with Da and have no faith in him

Da is a lame duck, its time to show him the Bench and get quinn out there

I have a thought. Teams have learned that taking away the long ball makes DA inneffective. We also have seen that Quinn seems to thrive on the short pass. Could Crennel have already made the decision to go with Quinn, but the is acting as if he's not sure.

If the Bengals think DA is starting, they will most likely study the film and see that taking away the long ball will be the best strategy. Thus they gameplan this way all week. Come Sunday Quinn is announced, they must change their plans.

I know this sounds simplistic, but it does pose a problem for Cincy's preparation.

All this said, I want to see Quinn before the bye. I want to know going into the bye which way to go. This way they will have two weeks to tweak the offense to Quinn's strong points, or fine tune DA's game if Quinn fails.

Yea, when RAC says something is a game time decision.. what he really means is, "I'm not going to think about it until 10 minutes before the game."

I do KNOW, that we have a kid sitting with more "raw talent" than DA will EVER posess!

You KNOW that, huh? And the coaches, GM, etc of the Cleveland Browns are apparently ignorant in your mind.

No Arch, it must be YOU! Because the coaching staff has SAID that "Quinn needs to get ready to start".

Quinn is a much better all around athlete. Scrambles better and thus far appears overall more accurate! That's WHY he was drafted so high.

Dee dee dee!

That's "raw talent" Arch...............

Now, for serious discussion - I have the opinion that Rodgers (Rogers) benefitted from sitting for 3 seasons simply because he sat and watched the game - he learned from watching.

You have the opinion that he was mentored by Favre, and that is why he is doing as well as he has so far.

On that topic, we just will never agree.

I don't really care if we do or not. MOST fans who know the game can SEE the tendancies Rodgers has that is a direct result of Favre. You don't have to agree. It's there. And it's EASY to see.

As per the coaching staff? I'm not sure if they're clueless or not. From what I've seen thus far this season, it's a question that seems debatable if you look at the results and the topics on the board.

I'm waiting for a win so everything can go back to normal.

The only thing a "win" might do, is keep DA in the starting line up longer.

Which will mean our future is simply put on hold for that much longer. Resting on some "half assed laurels" (DA) will only delay our possibility to get where we ALL want to be. NFL Champions. It will never happen with DA behind Center.

The reality is if DA plays good in the Cincy game..he will continue to play until he sinks..
The only reason he doesn't get the nod against the Bungals is if the coaches determine he's done mentally ..and only the practices will show it..
I think there is something wrong(dispite the weaknesses he has)..I said to DnD , dude hasn't recovered from the blow to the head..either it knocked something outta whack or he's gun shy...or both.

But he's confused right now and he shouldn't be..he should know what the defenses are doing to him..they're taking away Edwards deep routes..and they're chucking KW at the line and running a LB/safety under/over on him..
The backs are free..something Chud needs to unwrap his brain about..and they need to run the ball more..or I'm gonna have to see Lewis's angry glare some more..

Now before U come a rolling back have ...I said anything bout WHO I want to start?
No..just laying it out as I see it.

Hall of Famer Jim Brown made his feelings about the quarterback situation known on an appearance Monday night on "Pro Football Central," an Internet radio show.

Brown, who holds the title of executive adviser with the Browns, told the interviewer that he had been in organization meetings all day and "we all seem to be in one accord. But it's up to the coach to make the final decision on his lineup this week.

But if he makes the right decision on his lineup this week, I think we can be out of this terrible kind of depression we're in."

Brown was asked if he was talking about Brady Quinn. He replied: "We don't have a superstar quarterback. We have two that have tremendous potential.

One has played a lot more than the other has, successfully, and also had some failure. If we try Brady this week, it's a change of pace. Why not have a change of pace that might bring you a spark? And if he doesn't cut it, we can bring the other guy back, and we can bring Brady back.

"We haven't decided we have a major superstar and if he sits down a quarter we will have broken his heart. This is professional football. These guys are getting paid and sometimes you need a spark, and a different personality can do it."
