Sorry, I didn't mean to argue against clearly the most knowledgeable person in America on the subject of college football. Just be ready to retract that when they're involved in a close game or (heaven forbid) come up short.

USC has 5* backups to their 5*'s. Their talent is unmatched. Now sure, they could lose focus, but if they get to the championship game, i'd put money on them not losing.

Top dawg.

To answer your question on the fumble.

Here is how I saw the play.

Beckman fumbles the ball.

OSU gaurd jumps on the ball. The ball squirts out.

Two USC players jump on the ball. The ball squirts out.

The ball is recovered from the pile by the buckeyes, but the refs rule that the Two usc players had possession.

I found this a very questionable ruling and I thought that it should have at least been reviewed. To me the ball was moving the whole time the two USC players were on it, and If they did have possession. Why did the ball squirt out?

Would it have changed the outcome, NO. But OSU might have put some points on the board and had a little more confidence in the second half to at least make it respectable. Up until this point I thought there was Hope (however misguided). It is not why they lost, but I thought it was the difference between them having a shot at making it respectable and saving face and the complete ass kicking they received.

IMO, the OSU lineman jumped on the ball and it immediately squirted out, he never maintained possession.

The USC players jumped on the ball and had possession but tried to roll over and the ball came out. But since he was down and did establish possession it was USC's ball.

My only gripe on that particular biased call, is the official that made the call could not see from the sideline he was on, who actually had possession.
Or weather the ball was still bouncing around in there.

It was iffy at best.

Exactly. He authoritatively made a call on a play in which he could not see what was happening. That's just not right.

Last time they ran into one of the greatest College players of all time.

This team's defense is much better than that one. No one has the same amount of talent as USC. That, my friend, is a FACT.

Haven't even read the thread.

The buckeyes got handled, top to bottom.

Some of the ref's calls were questionable - but even so - had the calls not been made - the buckeyes got handled. Could've been a closer game - but it wasn't.

The bucks, and the big 10, took a huge step backwards tonight. And, although I am a Buckeyes fan - it is deserved. We can beat up on other big 10 teams but it doesn't matter till you go outside the big 10, and the Buckeyes, the cream of the big 10, can't.

We got beat tonight - top to bottom. Respect will come when we can play a respectable game against top competition. Until then?

Damn those officials costing OSU the game

Get over it peeps, they are weak when compared to a legit college team. Facts are facts and today showed the FACT that OSU is overrated and their conference is even weaker.

The big ten isn't the big ten anymore, they should change the name to the big MAC because half the teams in the MAC could probably beat their asses too.

Damn those officials,

I seem to recall that USC group being the "best group of talent ever assembled" etc.

the west coast hype machine never runs out of steam, but i guess this discussion is neither here nor there, because we'll have to wait until they're challenged by a big XII or SEC opponent in the title game to see what they're really made of. see ya in january.

Wow! Long pointless thread.
USC looks unbeatable thanks to a lackluster Buckeye team.
But I am pretty sure they will lose before the BCS NC game.
Even with unbeatable talent.
It is really, really hard to run the table.
And no I do not care to make a bet.
Was fun guys.
G'night.

Do you realize that the vast majority of this board doesn't put any stock into what you say? I haven't been here that long and it's already pretty clear to me. You can go around trying to rattle people's chains as much as you want, but most of us aren't paying attention.

As to your upcoming "then why are you replying to me? " reply, it's because I was just curious.

That is an opinion. Honesty depending on the home field I think the MAC could compare to todays big ten. Take OSU out of the picture and the big ten is a glorified big east. This isn't your dad's big ten anymore this is a new beast and one that I feel is overrated. The stock in the big ten is droppin faster then a hookers panties, on free token night. The true colors of the big ten are showing and hopefully for the sake of humanity they will man up and get some talent up in this conference, but that is wishful thinking.

I care.

Question why do you only type in half paragraphs? Not that it matters but is this your style or is it your computer or programs? If there was a bullet statement competition you would win.

I don't think you understand how bad the MAC is. I mean, sure Akron beat 'Cuse by tons, but the only team in the Big Ten that would lose to a MAC team would probably be Minnesota, who is just flat out terrible. Penn State, 'Sconsin, and Illinois all are much better than anyone in the MAC.

But it is your opinion so, I guess I can't change it.

Take USC out of the picture and what is the Pac 10? Doesn't look like much after today with their 2nd best team being taken to OT (and should have been defeated) by a middle of the road Big Ten opponent. Not to mention what happened to Cal and UCLA.

Because I never said I was an English major.
What is it to you?
You gotta have better smack talk than that if you are going to use a washed up comedians name and face for your screen name and sig.
And besides I want to be uber and have a catchy heavy poster title like those of you who have nothing better to do but get a high post count.

I exaggerated to a degree, but since Penn State joined the conference I have seen a decline in play as well as talent. The point I was making is that this isn't the big ten I remembered as a kid, this conference has become weaker over the years and though the MAC is a weak comparison, a better one would be the big east. This conference (big ten) is dropping in terms of respect, and until they get competition in this league this conference will keep losing respect until they prove they are worth something. Either way the big ten is on it's way down and having one average team with OSU won't help them with a conference loaded with lack luster talent.

What does being an English major have to do with how you post? I asked if you had a special program to type your sentences, I didn't ask you to be an english major, if so I would have you teach me, LOL. I was just curious if this was your systems setup, sorry your panties got bunched up with such a question.

These things tend to have trends. Right now the SEC looks unreal, along with the Big Twelve. We'll see who it is next year.

I think once Michigan gets it's act together again, it'll benefit the Big Ten as a whole. Also, if UCLA ever gets to be relevant, it could really help the Big Ten in retaining that talent that goes to USC. USC, as it is, goes unmolested in California, and can afford to go out of state like crazy. If they have to battle in their own state, it'll help others.

The Big Ten will be back, right now it is in some dark times.

It's true. I'm a huge buckeye fan, but I've never seen such an overrated, overhyped team as this one the past 3 seasons.

this team is soft. they don't play physical ball. do you ever see anybody on usc get hit hard tonight?? I live in sec country. even teams like mississippi state, and ole miss have athetes that could run and play physical.
They would have a hard time beating vandy, and kentucky with this group.

tressel should bench the majority of them and play some of these young freshman so we're ready for usc next year. if he doesn't, we'll get sluaghtered again.

The Pac-10 is much better then the Big 10, period. No comparison. Not anymore. UCLA this year can beat any team in the big 10 this year, not the point but overall the Pac 10 isa going up and the Big ten is falling fast. This isn't new information, this has been taking place that last few years. The Pac 10 isn't as weak as you think, you just don't see it enough to make a sensible judgment on this division.

I watch plenty of Pac 10 football, and I am not impressed. Again, PURDUE should have beaten OREGON today.

If that's true of UCLA then it looks like BYU is headed straight to Miami.

Funny, take notice peeps, see how easy it is to admit being wrong? It can happen I just wish others would admit the same when it happens.

Not directed towards you man, but just saying that some need to admit this.

Well since you put it so eloquently.
I type the way I talk.
It can't be taught.
I am an original.
And I figured since it seems to be your mission on this board to get other peoples "panties in a bunch" , (touche, you win)
I figured I might as well oblige.

Of course USC can beat any team in the Big Ten; that doesn't mean the Pac 10 is any good. After all, that's the same as saying they could beat any MAC team.

Tress god bless his soul has hit cooper status( i think thts wht u meant?)

He can't win the big games so he beats Meechigan....great...but he needs to win these big games against outside teams...it's sad to say but his image is forever tainted..along with the buckeyes....if it were up to me i would still give them benefit of the doubt...but the media and the country won't let this go...it's over for OSU...we are going to be in this hole for years to come....it really is as bad as it seems OSU fans...and if you don't think so please go to bed because you will realize this tomorrow.

Uhm. Huh? It does not seem that you know that what you wrote is what you think you mean.

What you wrote does not show that you know what you are talking about on the topic of USC or the PAC 10.

Doesn't USC lose games in the PAC 10? So?

2-4 in "big games" other than michigan (big wins against Texas and Miami), i'd say his rep is still salvageable. going to be a lot riding on his performance against USC at the 'shoe though.

Do you really consider the texas win a big win? LOL they sucked that year...they had a new starter at QB and their team so should not have been ranked at #1...we killed them that day not because we were great...it was cuz texas sucked...but fine i'll give him that 2-4. And i agree that should NOT make the coach look terrible....but he is unfortunately because of the stupid ass media...they won't let us live this down....
