Found this interesting. Everything we already know, but from a different perspective being as it's from down here, you guys may not have seen it. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/breaking-news/story/693079.htmlMiami Heat's Dwyane Wade keeps an eye on NYC Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, who becomes a free agent in 2010, said he would be interested in playing for Mike D'Antoni, coach of the New York Knicks. Posted on Fri, Sep. 19, 2008 By SARAH ROTHSCHILD srothschild@MiamiHerald.comDwyane Wade says he's interested in working with New Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, who worked with Wade as an assistant coach on the Olympic basketball team. MARICE COHN BAND / MIAMI HERALD STAFF Dwyane Wade says he's interested in working with New Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, who worked with Wade as an assistant coach on the Olympic basketball team. Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade mentioned the New York Knicks as a possible destination when he hits free agency in summer 2010, and said he would be open to Miami pursuing point guard Stephon Marbury if he becomes available. New Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni worked with Wade as an assistant coach on the Olympic basketball team, and the Heat star said he would be interested in playing for the offensive-minded coach. ''I mean, I love offense. Why wouldn't I? I love him,'' Wade told Newsday during a promotional tour in New York. ``When we're in practice, I love [Portland Trailblazers coach] Nate McMillan, but I want to be on Mike D'Antoni's team because Nate is preaching all defense and Mike is preaching all offense.'' Wade also cautioned not to judge Marbury. The rebuilding Knicks are expected to waive Marbury -- whose ego and attitude earned him the nickname ''Starbury'' -- in the coming weeks. Wade played on the 2004 Olympic team with Marbury. ''You can never judge a guy by what you've heard because if that was the case, then Shaq wouldn't have been the ideal teammate for me as well,'' Wade said. ``He came to Miami and everything I heard about him, none of it showed. You can't ever judge a guy by what he's done in his past or what you've heard about him.'' The most pressing issue for the Heat long-term will be building a team that appeases Wade to keep him after he becomes a free agent. The star-studded 2010 free-agent class is expected to include Chris Bosh and LeBron James, among others. James also has been linked to New York because it would allow him to play in a big market, and he would have two options. The Nets are building a new arena and will be moving to Brooklyn and James' close friend and business mentor, Jay-Z, is part-owner of the team. The Knicks also are expected to target James.
''We know that 2010 is a big year,'' Wade said. ``I'm a part of that year, so I know it's a big year.
``The Knicks are not worried about me. They're worried about No. 23, and he's in Cleveland. I'm in a good market in Miami. He's not in a good market in Cleveland, marketing-wise, so it just makes sense that everyone wants to see one of the best players in one of the best markets.
``It's going to be a lot to decide for him. So I just get all the attention off me and throw it on him, so it's easy.''

Now other NBA players are going to say LeBron to NYC? NEWSFLASH! The market that LeBron is in has the most national games on tv this year. I don't think he has a lack of exposure. Dwayne Wade can shut his mouth.
you had a good run Hank.

One can easily surmise that LeBron let the cat out of the proverbial bag while the two were out winning Olympic gold,....Wade got his "one" but doesn't have Shaq to rely on anymore. He's looking for a new Sugar Daddy.

Its actually kinda weird how he talked about the marketing. He said he is in a "good marketing city," yet he is getting dwarfed in marketing and endorsements by Lebron, who he states is in a "poor marketing city." He has had 5 MORE YEARS IN A "GOOD MARKET" compared to Lebron in his "bad market." Its simple English. The guy contradicted himself when you think about it. Well, he either contradicted himself or just thinks he ain't very marketable. It's gotta be one of the two. Like I said, it ain't just like LB is winning the marketing race, he has DWARFED Wade. Also, Keep in mind how much more often the lowly Cavs are on National TV compared to Miami
I heart winning

you just have to lol at this kind of crap from the media waitingfornextyear.com, which is a very good cleveland sports blog, had this excerpt about the article Quote:
His comment about how he’s in such a great market and Cleveland is stuck in the abysmal market of Cleveland isn’t quite true. Yes, Miami is a larger market than Cleveland, but not by much. Look at the rankings of US TV Markets. There’s Miami-Ft Lauderdale at #16. Not exactly the premiere market Wade makes it out to be. What market is one spot below Miami, at #17? That’s right, Cleveland-Akron (Canton).
Take a look at Forbes’ ranking of NBA Team Valuations. The Cavaliers are ranked 7th in the NBA, 2 spots ahead of the Miami Heat. Obviously, we’re not naive. I realize that LeBron is pretty much the sole factor for this, but the point I keep trying to tell everyone is that in today’s society that we live in, with internet, communication, cable TV deals, national TV deals, etc, the Cleveland Cavaliers are able to provide LeBron with the exposure he needs. The Cavs rank 5th in the NBA in revenue, and are 4th in the NBA in operating income. Last year LeBron was third in jersey sales, behind Garnett (who changed teams) and Kobe.
lebron does commercials that end up in every market in the united states, and across the world. so i don't understand why he needs to be in a bigger market...
considering he does commercials for nike, and for many different coke products (powerade, vitamin water, etc) why does he need to be a huge city? he's getting this all done in a mid market...
i'm sorry, but doing a local commercial for bob's used auto cars in new york gets trumped by doing a commercial that shows up in every household across the nation.
and actually, espn did a panel, of nba sportswriters, 25 of them to give their take on where lebron will land up after 2010, the cavs actually got 11 of the votes, with the nets getting 8, and the knicks getting a few...
take that for what it is. it is bspn after all.
the truth is, lebron doesn't know where he is going after 2010. it has nothing to do with market size. i've said it 10 million times. if it was about market size, he'd be gone already. he's the one that signed the extenstion to stay in cleveland, so obviously it wasn't all about "market size"
like i said, just kick back and lol about it.

Personally, I think if Lebron ends up in NYC, it will be because he really wants to live and work in the city itself. He's made no secret about the fact that he loves New York. In the end, if he gets the itch to move, he'll do it and there isn't anything we'll be able to do about it.
Marketing will have little to do with it, however, because sports/entertainment marketing is a such global business (heck, one of the largest sports management firms in the world -- IMG -- is based in Cleveland). If you're a star, it doesn't matter where you live these days. Your representation will work around YOUR location. These days, you can fly cross-country, do a photo shoot and fly back cross-cross country in 24-hours or less if you really want to.

I just hope he wins a championship here before he makes the decision to stay or leave. That way, either decision he makes, he will remain a hero of Cleveland.
If he doesn't win a championship and leaves there will be people with hard feelings...only to be made worse holding up a trophy for another city.
There are thousands of very good reasons to move to NYC and play ball there and there are a handful of very good reasons to stay. If I'm LeBron I probably would leave all things considered but I hope he's won one before he makes that decision.

Everything is about New York City constantly so why doesnt America sell the rest of United States to China to get out of debt lol because nothing happens outside of New York we all just move there
But seriously is Cleveland the only city in America that does not get portrayed in positive light ever? I dont live in cleveland but my loyalty to the the 3 sports teams makes me share a bond with city because cleveland is the only city in ohio that gets any media attention (whether positive or negative). I mean I am seriously trying to think of one city that takes as punishment as Cleveland from athletes, sports writers, other americans, etc. I mean even Ichiro took a shot and he is not even in fluent in English

I wish I could. I'm staring retirement in the eye but I was wearing footy pajamas the last time we we won anything in this town, the prospect of the big market city stealing a rare Cleveland star ala Manny Ramirez torks me off to no end.

of course it does...
but really, don't even think about it, regardless of what happens, we have 2 years with lebron left... just think about how the nba has changed over the last two years...
the heat went from being nba champs to bad and the celtics went from being abysmal to being nba champs...
and considering the cavs have all kinds of options with expiring contracts and upcoming cap space, i'd say that more change is coming.
i've never said for sure that he's staying or going, i've always just pointed out reasons as to why he can stay... and to be honest, with the way danny ferry was able to grab a very good player in mo williams while still holding onto wally sczerbiak (on top of not taking on any real dead weight, still shaking my head on that one) how can you not feel good about our chances?
i have said it before, i think lebron wants to stay, but i also think he wants a reason to...
he's not just going to be loyal to the city and sign the extenstion, he needs this team to get better... they have overachieved past 3 seasons and everyone knows it. mike brown has gotten just about everything out of this team that he possibly could... people knock the guy but red auerbach couldn't have taken that team 2 years ago and beaten the spurs...
if mo williams buys into mike brown's philosophy, we are in for quite the show. and that is one step to keeping lebron in town.
