Panthers fire coordinator Dan Henning Associated Press CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carolina Panthers fired offensive coordinator Dan Henning and two other assistants Monday, two weeks after finishing a disappointing 8-8 season.
Offensive line coach Mike Maser and secondary coach Rod Perry were also let go.
"This is a very difficult decision because these coaches have played an integral role in the success we have experienced since coming to the Panthers," coach John Fox said. "They were part of a Super Bowl and two NFC championship games and those accomplishments would not have been possible without their contributions."
The Panthers struggled on offense and failed to make the playoffs, hurt in part by numerous injuries on the offensive line. But Henning's playcalling also came under question as Carolina struggled to run and get the ball to receiver Steve Smith.

Can this be a candidate for us?

haha...Toad. You and the run and shoot.
If I remember correctly, every few months like clock work, you show your unabashed love for the run and shoot. And tell us that it is only a matter of time before it comes back to the NFL in a modified form. I know you are secretly hoping Frye/Anderson can become our version of the dynamic duo that is Kramer & Peete!
Okay, that was my goofiness for the day.
It seems some more options are becoming available for us. We really need to make sure we get the right guy this time.

That pretty much eliminates that guy as far as I am concerned.
He had the sense to leave, but then he went back!

IMHO this is one of the biggest decisions that this club has faced since coming back. IMHO if a bad decision is made, it keeps this team/regime from progressing. If a good one is made, it can help us turn the corner.

No, NO and NOOOO!!!!!!!!! Remember the bashing of the Carolina offense when they played us? it was some of the worst playcalling I'd ever seen. Beyond conservative. For once me and Vers will agree on something cuz I remember him saying he hated the playcalling from the Panthers and thought if we thought Mo was bad then we didn't realize how bad this guy was at calling plays. Stay far, far away.

Hehehe.........Actually, it's every few months that I profess my love for the WCO
BUT, I did make a post once about how I think the R&S will come back at some point in a modified form. Your memory is sharp as a nail.
Back to the serious note, yeah, there are tons of options out there, Henning being just one. Davidson was a worthwhile replacement for that fool Carthon, but it's time for veteran coaches. One of the things that really had me concerned when we hired RAC was how we lacked ANY experienced coaches who were worth a flip. Bozo was the only real "name" coach we had with a legit background, but with the way he sleezed, lied, and cannived his way through his Head Coaching stint, he was worse than a rookie coach.
Well, now here we are. RAC looks highly questionable (and that's putting it nicely), Mo and his Lacky's are out the door after proving he doesn't have a clue and Bozo is gone. It's time for some proven veterans to come in and bring some proven credability to the show. There are plenty of options now, and more should come available later. You're absolutely right. We really do need to make sure and get the right guy.
