Dad in with us today. He's been in a nursing home for the last 3 months. He has termial brain cancer but is not yet bed ridden. All we wanted was for the nursing home's dr. was to order some new x-rays so we could see how much further the cancer has progressed and we couldn't get it done..This was about 2 months ago...
Well anyways we we'ren't happy with the nursing home anyways so we made arrangements for him to move in with us. When i was at a Drs visit last week i mentioned to my Dr that we were moving my Dad in with us and she agreed to do a full workup on him to find out how far the cancer has progressed. She has been his DR for the last yr but once he was placed in the nursing home he went under their Drs care. So at least we'll get some answers now.
Anyways he's in his room sleeping for the first time in a bed [ because he refused to sleep in a bed at the nursing home] for some time. Right now were waiting on Hospise as there supposed to come by today as they have taken over care.
Anyways not venting just just saying we're hoping his last time will at least be pleasant,

Geez, don't know what to say. It's great that you can help him out by having him at your place.
Sorry about the prognosis.
I wish you guys the best. Not an easy situation at all, I'm sure.

Yeah man I too am sorry to hear about his illness, but I think you are doing a good ting. I hope I never have to make a decision like that for my mom, but I think if I did I would want her at home with me.
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!

Well my mom pased 15 yrs ago. My dad will be 81 at the end of next month. Most of my relatives have lived up to 80-100 yrs old. My dad hasn't smoked for about 25 yrs. I quit 7 yrs ago. Anyways i have a brother that lives near and he will help also. I also have a sister and 2 brothers that live 20 miles away that will take him out for a day every so often.
The brother that feels the worst lives in Utah and he just can't get back as much as he wants, and he still has about 6 more yrs before he can retire. He wanted to get a house to set our dad up in but we told him he couldn't be by himself. So there you have it. We're just trying to make what time he has left as enjoyable and with family....337 remember one thing....this has to be a family decission no matter what.

I moved my mother in for a number of months before she passed.
I had some of the best conversations ever with her and do not regret the work and time one bit! Sixteen years later it stands out vividly and as a positive in my memory.
Good luck to you and your father, family and others who support you.
