Were I a Gator,.....Georgia, LSU and Alabama would be more "worrisome" than the rest of the SEC.

What a tough pull,...

And there'll be no overlooking The Citadel.

We don't have Bama this year unless we catch them in the championship game....and they look like Bama should...glad to have them back....with some Alabama roots, they would be my 2nd SEC team.

That Citadel game has me concerned we might wear out our kickers leg and the coverage guys having to cover 7-8 kick-offs.

You caught the joke,... I'm just hoping for 35 or less,....

Seriously,...I hope it doesn't cost the Bulldogs a playoff spot.

I have watched their last two games in entirety. They are the best team in the country. Their offense is the most dynamic I have ever seen. Their defense is just as good as their offense, and Urban Meyer spends a lot of time with their special teams- which shows. Barring injury, they will go undefeated in the SEC. As for what happens in the title game, I don't know. I imagine Urban Meyer will have an amazing gameplan though.

the sec is just so much fun to watch...

i love tressel, but he seems like he has always been the coach that plays not to lose, and give him credit it worked 14 times in one year...

but these sec coaches play to win. they run plays that utilizes their skill positions.

it's really a joy to watch, i think it's the most watchable football at any level.

i am so sick of the big ten, i love ohio state, and i always will, but outside of whoever they play, i will watch more sec football.

The Sooners are looking good!

How about the Boise State Broncos going north and getting it done in the mad house in Oregon, in the Pac 10? NICE!!! BCS busters again? We shall see...

Boise you spent a lot of time a few weeks ago pimping how tough the Pac 10 is and how nobody could run that table undefeated... so I will ask now, aside from USC, what does the Pac 10 have that's all that impressive?
Arizona lost to New Mexico..
Oregon lost to Boise State..
Cal lost to Maryland..
Arizona State lost to UNLV and got beat soundly by Georgia..
Oregon State, UCLA, Washington State and Washington have lost to darn near everybody...

I agree.

First, college ball is better to watch than pro ball almost always...I like the college game way better.....more excitement to the whole thing.

Second...the SEC always has 3-4 really, really good teams and 4-5 more better than your average team, so it isn't often you end up with a dud game.

I think you hit on it....they play wide open for the most part and play to win rather than the NFL style where you are working for field position and waiting for the other guy to make a mistake.

Other conferences may have some individual teams like that, but it doesn't go 4-5-6-7 deep. Maybe 2, possibly 3 in a good year.

I love the SEC. I like to watch the combination of physical play and speed that is only found there. However. The Big 12 is a very good football conference every year, and does not get the credit for it. Year in and year out there are 4 or 5 teams in the big 12 that are capable of beating anybody. jmo

I agree with you on nebraska. I think Pelini will evetually get them going. They tried get into running the wide open offense, and it's hard to bring in those types of kids (Lincon is not big sell to kids from the city). I think Pelini will get back to a hard nosed attitude...a defense first and they will be back. I also think hawkins will do a good job at Colorado. By the time those two get it going though we will loose Pinkle at Mizzou, He is an up and commer and will be gone...Off to the Big ten prob.

I think the big twelve gets left out of this conversation too often. If OK could win a bowl game it would help the conferences image. Evey year we send them to the BCS , and evey year they embarase the conference. We just need to start beating them in conference play , but that is a whole other can of worms.

Not exactly a soup question... But I give it a go...

Is your reply really questioning or are you making a statement?

Actually, what I spent time doing was refuting the usual east coast bs about how week the PAc 10 is... That and pointing out to you and others that the best college football team and program in the country, USC, gets beat nearly every year by team/s in the Pac 10.

Your questions, statements and or points can be used for any Div. 1 conference at this point in the season... So What?

How about Tennese so far this season? Losing to UCLA and...

USC may not beat anyone in the Pac 10 as bad as they whipped Ohio State.

It's early in the season... Lots of football left.

Boise State beat Oregon, primarily because they were down to there 5th string and red shirt QB... That and BSU's freshman QB lit up the Ducks like Middle Tennesse did your Terps...

Until next time...

UCLA got destroyed, at home, by BYU.

The Terps, who got lit up by Middle Tennessee, hammered Cal.

Oregon was nearly beaten by a middle of the road Purdue team.

Oregon State got crushed by Penn State.

Oregon got killed by Boise State.

Washington and Washington State are so horrible that people want them replaced.

Arizona is a decent team that lost to someone they shouldn't have.

Arizona State lost to UNLV at home.

Stanford is an up and coming team who might actually be the 2nd best team in the conference.

USC is the best team in the country.

The Big Ten has more quality teams than the PAC Ten. The PAC Ten has THE best team. They are close in strength.

Who really cares anyway?

Both... the statement part is that the Pac 10 that you defended so adamently and tried to put at or near the level of the SEC doesn't appear to be all that good... the question part is, do you agree?

This year I just don't see much in the Pac 10 behind USC.. much like the Big 10 for the last few years, you had OSU then a bunch of mediocre football teams... Hey, at least they have one national power, my ACC doesn't even have that...

Quote:

and Florida? Florida is a legit top 5 team... but the SEC has a lot of other teams.. 5 or 6 still that are undefeated... and a couple with 1 loss only because they played each other...

Ah, Terps smack... Maryland never trailed by more than 10... and had the ball inside the MTSU 35 three times in the 4th quarter and scored no points because their 3rd string qb threw 2 ints... excuses are wonderful...

Speaking of the SEC...there is a dandy Saturday night, 7:45 PM ET

Alabama at Georgia.

That should be a good one.....lot's of future Sunday players will be on the field in Athens that night.

I think Bamas D has what it takes to get it done...If you like college football...tradition, excitement, rivalry...that is a can't miss and should live up to the billing.

Ice down a few brews, pop up some corn, and watch a few southern boys on both sides blow some snot bubbles.

The word is out, big time. My dad is a tryed and true big ten guy. Went to OSU during Archie's Heisman years, etc. Preached to me BUCKEYE football and rooting for the big ten as soon as I could interpret what it meant. Generally he follows the Big Ten, and just keeps an eye out on everything else. We went to the OSU-Florida game/debacle together...

Anyhow, my dad called me Sunday just to tell me that he really enjoyed watching the Auburn-LSU game from the nite before. Was raving about how fast the lateral speed was. Then he goes, "those aren't even the 2 best teams in the conference!" I had been trying to tell him for 3-4 years what a dog fight that conference is, and he never really was fully appreciating what I said. Even he has come full circle now.....

I agree, UGA has the edge but it's not just because they're at home. UGA and UF are the two best teams in the SEC clearly.

Auburn has some problems on Offense, as does LSU. Had either of those teams played UGA or UF in that game last Sat. it would have been a blowout. Alabama is a very youthful team, that's really gonna show going against UGA. Tennessee isn't a good team this year.

Barring injury, that game in Jacksonville will decide not only who will win the SEC, it will also decide 1/2 of the national championship picture.

How OSU fares in BCS systems

Where Ohio State is ranked by the four Bowl Championship Series systems currently posting (the first BCS standings will be released Oct. 19):

Richard Billingsley -- No. 7

Jeff Sagarin -- No. 8

Kenneth Massey -- No. 32

Wes Colley -- No. 38

I gotta disagree. If this game was played at a nuetral site, georgia would be a slight favorite, maybe 2-3 points. Alabama is a good football team. Saban didn't inherit a mess. Schula left some quality talent. I expect a close game, but like the dawgs to pull it out at the end.

as far as Lsu, they put 26 pts on a great auburn defense, with their backup qb no less. they have one of the best o-lines in the country. their receivers, and backs are solid. they're a complete football team in my book.

I was going to say I don't think LSU is having trouble on O, and I don't think Ga and Fla are so clear cut the favorites .

Bama is for real. Saben has it back to where Bama should be...at least if you are a traditionalist when it comes to that sort of thing.

In this game, Bama has a stout run defense up the middle...can't think of his name at the moment, but one guy is called "zip code"...he is huge, and plays that way. I think Bama is going to be able to neutralize Moreano as much as is possible when it comes to running the ball....Moreano would look pretty good in a Browns uniform...reminds me of Joeseph Addai only stronger....going to be a good pro player

The match-up to watch is how well Bama pressures Stafford and their corners play against the pass, and for Georgia how well they protect Stafford....Georgia is probably going to Moreano in the passing game quite a bit.

Bama..I think they are just going to try to lay the wood on Ga's D and run a smash mouth type of O...

Both teams have good young receivers...ranked 1 and 2 out of HS last year....be interesting to see how those kids are utilized.

Should be a fun game to watch.

A lot of teams will get handled by BYU this year. Keep and eye on them nd their current ranking and schedule.

The Terps, who got lit up by Middle Tennessee, hammered Cal.
Terps had an off game, I was just grinding DC.

Oregon was nearly beaten by a middle of the road Purdue team. Because they have serious QB injuries and were on the road.

Oregon State got crushed by Penn State. Thats like saying Penn State won't crush Northwestern... OSU West is rebuilding too.

Oregon got killed by Boise State. No acutally the final was 37-32 and the game was in qusetion with less than 2 mins left...

Washington and Washington State are so horrible that people want them replaced. Huh? Both programs are going through staff changes and are rebuilding. Ty is on the outs too...

Arizona is a decent team that lost to someone they shouldn't have. Happens to everyone

Arizona State lost to UNLV at home. Regional rivalry game, it happens.

Stanford is an up and coming team who might actually be the 2nd best team in the conference. Stanford is improving but is far from #2

USC is the best team in the country.

The Big Ten has more quality teams than the PAC Ten. The PAC Ten has THE best team. You're entitled to your opinion, I disagree. They are close in strength.

Who really cares anyway?

I agree with Pete Carol on this topic... Google his interview from yesterday about OSU West and the PaC 10 in general. Pete know college football and the PAC 10.

If you're a wantin' more check out my reply to bigbaddawg...

The Terps jab was only to show a point... From each and every week to the next in college football you never know who is going to step up and beat who. Thats why college football is my favorite sport to watch. Be well my Browns Brother!

Well I can show you interviews with ACC coaches talking about how underappreciated the ACC is to and how it's better than people think.. you would expect a coach to promote his own conference..

How are you Brother? And how is your amazing Idahoan better half?

OU's field isn't blue...

But you don't like that one either...

I love the Smurf turf... It's one of the hardest places in the country for teams to come and play and win...

I love the Browns Orange Jerseys too!

I wonder ho the Orange jerseys and Brown pants would look?

Maybe we should ask the Oregon Y/Ducks first...

Good points... I get ya man...

Problem is Pete and his squads have lost more games than they should in the PAC 10... PC will be the first to admitt that... The reasons are USC has huge targets every week, most games are rivalry games and the conference is nearly always better than people give it credit for...

Bad thing for you is Saint is nearly always right... In your regard...
