This looks like a down year for some of the favored teams in the AFC with teams like Indy,NE, and SD all stumbling.
It is a good year for some team to step up and make a move....too bad it looks like we won't be that team.

They could be though,....just gotta make THAT move (take your pick -- RAC out or Quinn in).
It would be better than hanging on to the towel.
My new team is,....Miami (just kidding,...)

I agree with you, DC. I always had a soft spot for the Bills, especially after they voted against the Browns move. I see them as very similar teams and cities. They have an extremely devoted fan base, just like us.
So, I always root for the Bills to win, unless they're playing us, or by them winning it hurts us somehow.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Yep, Browns picked the wrong year to bust out with a 10-6 record. I don't understand Cleveland sports teams. The Indians have a great season and follow it up with a flop, then the Browns follow suit. I don't get it. Thankfully the Browns aren't dead yet due to the weak looking AFC, but they have done nothing to show me they are even a decent team. I can't defend them anymore, I just look stupid doing so. Depressing.

See the other thread where Tyler Derden talks about letting Heiden take over and make the non-blocking Winslow a real WR,...I think that is a great idea,....

I have mentioned that for some time.
The combination of Winslow and Heiden has to be better than the combination or Winslow OR Heiden and Steptoe(or whoever)

I dont see it working much as of now, after(if) stallworth gets on the field, when we have a legit slot weapon then it will work.....but that makes alot of sense. As does Putting Harrison in the slot occasionally, and spreading KW2 out....this again might work... So don't expect to see it!

Realize that injuries are killing us, but can you imagine what their LB'ers are thinking with Cribbs/Harrison in the slot, Heiden tight, and having to double KW/BE ?
Then I'm running a draw or screen to Lewis,...??
This is not rocket science,...and StalledWorthless is still sitting,....

No no...you dont understand....it makes sense....its logical....normal, idiot fans can come up with it...its too far bellow the complex systems run by the Browns. Why play our best players when the defense is expecting that?.....you see its all a big eleborate scheme to trick the defense by not playing the best players. I havent seen genius like this since Mo was here.

I am certainly baffled by some of our playcalling...however... ...what is there really to worry about as a defensive coordinator? Stack the box early and often. Watch for Edwards going deep, and hope he doesn't manage to hang onto the ball. Ding up Winslow at the line with an LB...who is going to hurt you? Steptoe? I agree that we need to see more of Cribbs and Harrison...but Cribbs is effective in a unique way...he isn't all that threatening when running pass routes. Chud really doesn't have a lot to work with...people demand a vertical game...but Edwards and Winslow are all we have in that department. Both of them are hawked, and one can't catch right now. A consistent focus on neutralizing them is all that a DC needs to worry about...DA's mistakes take care of the rest. But where the hell is Harrison?

On the bench because he can't block.
I wonder why the team even made a point to say Harrison would be given more reps?? I don't think 1 chance is what people got out of that....at least I didn't.

I've bought my ticket for the "more Harrison" train, but it's not as black and white as people are making yesterday out to be.
The Ravens pretty much snapped our neck VERY early in the third quarter. They put us in a deep hole, and pinned their ears back...not a whole lot Harrison can do for us at that point. Once it got to the point where we were forced to pass, Harrison's options for us became very limited. He can't block...he can pretty much only slip out of the backfield, and I imagine the Ravens would be quick to pounce on that. It's not like they have many other threats to worry about...
I want to see more of him, but we're not going to see much of him when we're down big.

The worse part of starting 0-3, is as fans we cant do a darn thing about it.
We have to sit back and watch & wait.
Good thing Bow season starts up Saturday...

The sad thing in all this...........
Is that I read that we're not winning because of our #2 WR. Folks we have more talent in the 10 positions (not QB) on offense than 90% of the NFL. We should be a juggernaut with
Thomas - for my money the best LT in football Winslow - Top 5 TE Edwards - Top 5 WR Lewis - Top 10 RB Vickers - Top 10 FB Steinbach - Top 10 LG Fraley - Top 15 C Shaffer - Top 20 RT Hadnot - Bottom of the barrel starting RG
Steptoe is not the issue...we have one of the best cockpits in the NFL on offense.
We need to be scoring points.
And it does hurt that we're not making our move this year.

The sad thing is that....... So many fans of this team have bought into this team has all this unproven talent #1. #2 that Savage and Lerner had half an idea that Romeo deserved an extension after last season. #3 that Savage drafted a QB with this years #1 pick last year and won't let the kid play. #4And the worse of all is the fans give Savage a pass in all of this. He should go also, and I know I will catch a bunch of crap for that statement but believe me when I say most of you will be on that bandwagon before long. Think about it most of you jumped right on the Anderson wagon (and I did not) and most of you jumped on the Romeo wagon (and I did not) in fact I posted last year that this whole thing was a one hit wonder but I got berated by many of you. Guess who was wrong! Read the signature and live my nightmare.
Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

If you can't see the talent on this team ....
I mean I don't even know what to say to that.
It's a talented team by any measure on the offensive side of the ball.
I'm not of the group that thinks Savage is some kind of wonderkind but we have more then enough talent on offense to be putting up 20+ points a game on anyone.

I'll make it easy for you, match any position on our team (offense or defense) that we have more talent than the Cowboys. Just 1 position and I'll admit we have some talent!

Joe Thomas on offense
Shawn Rogers on defense
Both of those are no brainers. Comparing any team to Dallas is going to be hard because they really have assembled a great team. I think they had 13 probowlers last year?
Outside of Cowboys and the Patriots I'll take our 10 starters over anyone elses 10 starters on offense, QB not included.
The only team that's close to being in the discussion is the Colts and maybe the Chargers.
We have one of the most talented cockpits in the NFL.

I have not been on the board much lately b/c it's very depressing. Losing is one thing, but looking this bad is disheartining. That being said here are some points to consider.:
1. In spite of how bad the defense looks they are not near the bottom in total team defense. Not too bad considering they are on the field a majority of the game. 2. the offense is the worst in the league and at the bottom in all categories. 3. the rushing stat I believe is the best barometer for success is yards per carry. The Browns are close to 4.0 which is about average. 4. DA's stats are downright horrible. He is forcing balls into coverage and trying to thread the needle all too often. 5. the receivers apper to have made alot of drops
conclusion: the receivers are not giving DA a decent target by getting open and when they do they drop the ball.

You mean a post like that?
Don't take it out on me, b/c everything you have been running around saying, pimping RAC is falling in pieces...
You can have your opinion about me I don't care...you confuse stuff that you dont agree with as "bafoon variety"....luckily for you your not alone, some posters feel like they always have go around belittle ever opinion that differs because somehow that makes thier ludacris idea better....b/c they are like a kid that feels threatened at the playground.
Little insecurity there dd?
Or they spout off about "football minded"...etc.....if you disagree with me your dumb....
I have alot of respect for some people, even tho I disagree with them, because they are mature and dont have resort to childish tactics to buff up their own little ego, they are happy to just debate.
If you don't like my posts, quit readin 'em...and don't respond to them.

That's the thing LJ, as bad as we have played, as poor as we have looked, and as depressed about our Browns as we are, I am still holding out hope. Maybe not for the playoffs, that would take an amazing turn-around, but at least for a respectfull season.
I have tried to stay out of the QB debate JUST BECAUSE, I knew that if we saw Brady this yr. it meant one of two things:
1- Anderson got hurt 2- We were playing bad and a big part of it could be blamed on Anderson.
Well, I am not staying out of it anymore.
Anderson has played pretty bad, granted his recievers have NOT helped in the slightest, especially Braylon. But Anderson has made some terrible decisions as well.
Am I happy with the play calling.......not really........but Braylon makes a few more catches and things are not so gloomy.
Am I happy with the defense.......not really.......but considering the time they have been on the field and the injuries they have had........I think they have played decently.
I think two things need to happen:
1- Bench Anderson. He hasn't played well since what........the Jets game last season? Maybe Quinn isn't the answer, but we need to find out......and it needs to happen while we still have a glimmer of life.
2- Somehow, someway,.........we need to find a pass rush. Maybe Hall is a part of that solution. He seemed to play pretty well last week and if teams start paying some attention to him, WImbley can step up to the plate?
Look, I know we are problably done for the playoffs, but stranger things have happened.
I know things don't look very good right now, but I do think we can get better, is 8-8 or 9-7 enough???????
I don't know, but as we stand right NOW.........I would take either of those.
Would that keep Romeo's job???????
I don't know that either, but I haven't given up on the season yet. I'm close........but not yet.
Just my humble $.02.

I have an idea that'll cheer us up. What say we remove Dieken and Donovan as voice of the Browns and replace them with the guy that does the voice of Mr Bill? His high pitched Oh nooooo would blend perfectly with all the over throws, sacks, ints, clock miss management, dropped passes and penalties. Don't ya think? Oh nooooooo

That is a sad thing,, but hey, it's not over yet.. I believe it was just last year, the Giants lost thier first three games and then went on a terror and won the SB.. Not saying it will happen here, but it could. I was thinking about this today.. as much as I'm down on the team, players, coaches and just about everything brown and orange after that debacle on Sunday.. If we could get healthy,, get Stallworth, Tucker, Stieny and Rucker back. Get Lewis and BE 100%.. That would/should be a big boost. Then at somepoint, get JJ Back (no, I'm not counting on it either). On D, get Bell and Jones back... another boost I think. Maybe a little jelling as well. We could be better.. lots better. And yeah, it may require a change at QB.. who knows. So while it's sad, it's not the end of the world just yet.. But I can see it from here
