I know how a lot of you feel about RAC, but thought this was noteworthy as it was well documented last week that dysfunctional Al Davis wanted Kiffin out.
One down, how many more to go before the end of the year?
It appears the Lane Kiffin experiment in Oakland may really be over this time ... no, really ... seriously.

Davis blamed Kiffin for the Raiders' 24-23 loss on Sunday to the Bills, and told his underlings that he will make the move on Monday. However, word was leaked out last week in a similar fashion and Kiffin survived. Players reached out to FOXSports.com to express hope that the move would not be made, and with Davis you can never be certain.
Kiffin reportedly has been on bad terms with Davis since shortly after last season. Sources said that when Kiffin informed Davis of coaching changes he wanted to make, the owner actually sent word to those coaches that the head coach was looking to make a move, but that Davis would protect them.
The Raiders opened the 2008 season with a 41-14 loss to the Broncos and former Raiders coach Mike Shanahan, but rebounded from that by beating the Chiefs, 23-8. They took a 16-7 lead into the fourth quarter Sunday against the Bills, but lost on Rian Lindell's 38-yard field goal as time expired.
Seriously ... who in their right mind would want to be Kiffin's replacement? Wasn't he a college offensive coordinator when he was hired? I think the Raiders went through 4 or 5 rejections, before they finally went down to the college ranks to find someone that would actually work for Davis. Now they did this to him.
That's what I was saying. Al Davis is pulling the trigger.
Did he actually do it yet? Or did he forget to do it?
More than likely, he flew out to LA after the loss to Buffalo....and he couldn't figure out why his keys wouldn't work for Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Stadium.
And by the time the janitor asked him to leave, Al Davis completely forgot what he was here to do.

Nah, Millen is totally oblivious to his being an idiot, however William Ford, Jr up there in Motown is not. They showed him being interviewed during the pre-game show tonight and he said that he'd fire Millen in a heartbeat, if he had the authority to do so.

You're not as crazy as you may think.
He has some growing up to do (on one hand it's good that he's taking on Al Davis, but I think he could show a little more class). I think he'll learn from those mistakes.
You'll see him on an NFL sideline again in a head coaching capacity, and this time he will be much more successful.

I voice my opinions, no matter what anyone else thinks of them, and Kiffin, once out of Oakland, will be a very good NFL coach. Vince Lombardi couldn't be successful in Oakland right now.
So I guess the respect factor doesn't weigh much to u....
I agree. Hell he gets that Raiders team up to play competitively. Considering their dearth of talent...there's something to be said about that team being competitive in games. The players seem to like him, and play hard for him.
If RAC proves to not be the answer, then I wouldn't mind one bit bringing him in for an interview. Savage could provide him better players than Davis ever would.

Talented? That's debatable. Who knows if Russell will be any good. McFadden is showing signs of being good though.
Their D is soft against the run, trading for DeAngelo Hall was stupid. Their O-line is garbage. Their #1 receiver has a bum knee. They're the most undisciplined team in the NFL due to the personalities of the players, not the coaching (although Rob Ryan sounds like the kind of guy who leads undisciplined players, if you've ever listened to him talk), they have players with ZERO heart (if you think we're bad, at least we work during the week).
They have a bad, BAD mix of players, talented or not, it doesn't all mesh.

Tom Cable, the team's offensive line coach, was emerging as the leading candidate to replace Kiffin, a source said. Cable was among three coaches interviewed by Davis on Monday night; the others were offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and special consultant Paul Hackett.
Davis is expected to have a press conference later Tuesday to explain his decision to dismiss Kiffin.
Unlike the St. Louis Rams, who fired coach Scott Linehan on Monday, the news was not delivered by Davis in a face-to-face meeting. Kiffin was notified by a team executive Tuesday morning that Davis would call him at 9:15 a.m. PT to relieve the coach of his duties. The call came shortly after that time.
Linehan also was allowed to speak briefly with his players on Monday. Kiffin will not be afforded the same opportunity, a source said.
The news did not blindside Kiffin, who was informed by a team executive that he would be fired after the Raiders 24-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills in week three. Even though Davis didn't act a week ago, as Kiffin was told, many team insiders expected the Oakland owner to fire the coach during this bye week.
The Raiders are 1-3, having blown leads in the fourth quarter to the Bills and the San Diego Chargers. During Kiffin's 20-game tenure, in which the team was 5-15, the Raiders took leads into the fourth quarter of 11 games.
Davis hired Kiffin, who was USC's offensive coordinator at the time, as the NFL's youngest coach at 31 years old in February 2007. Even though many observers questioned the hiring, Kiffin ultimately gained respect around the league for fielding a significantly more competitive team than the Raiders had displayed before he was hired.
Despite being competitive in the majority of games, Kiffin and Davis had a falling out on several fronts, starting when Davis believed Kiffin expressed private interest in the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas during the 2007 season.
However, it was well-documented that their relationship disintegrated when Kiffin attempted to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan after the 2007 season. A source said Kiffin suggested to Davis that the owner had reneged on an agreement that the coach would have control over his own staff. Shortly thereafter, Davis sent a letter of resignation for Kiffin to sign, sources said. Kiffin declined.
Kiffin also opposed some of Davis' big free-agent signings such as wide receiver Javon Walker and, to a lesser degree, cornerback DeAngelo Hall, sources said. Kiffin also expressed public frustration that the team was not more aggressive in claiming other team's released players via the waiver process to strengthen the bottom of the roster.
However, a Raiders source said that Davis privately sent a letter to Kiffin after the season's opening-game loss to the Broncos, attempting to "document" that the coach approved of the offseason acquisitions. A source close to Kiffin described that claim as "fiction."

Cable is the guy who's last head coaching gig was the University of Idaho!! He did such an incredibly POOR job there, that the next THREE head coaches all left within a year, because the team was so devoid of talent due to the Cable-era. He took a team that could hang with the Boise State's of the conference, and turned them into a D-I cupcake. One of the few happy days this century for U of I was the day they announced his firing.
And now he's the head coach of an NFL team!?!? At least the Vandals can run a team better than Al Davis. (although that isn't saying a whole lot)
the war cry in those years in moscow was "disconnect my cable!"
i poured that guy's driveway up in moscow when he was coaching there. he's a complete tool in person. this dude preached to his locker room that nobody was allowed to blame anyone else in an interview or sell out the team at all. the day after he left he did an interview and stated that UI could never be competitive due to lack of talent. he was, of course, responsible for bringing in AND coaching up all the bad players in the first place.
al davis has gone bye-bye. i can't imagine why he would fire kiffin out of love for ryan, but not promote his guy. HUH???

No, she was at Idaho in 1984-1987 ... when Idaho football was actually good. Mark "Stink" Schlereth (The ESPN analyst) played then, and ironically enough blocked for Quarterback Scott Linehan ... the Rams coach that got fired. (Everything comes full circle).
Actually, Idaho was pretty good in football, up until the Tom Cable years (2000-2003) ... and we still haven't recovered.
Speaking of Sarah Palin and Al Davis, I thought the following quote from Chris Rock was pretty funny:
"Sarah Palin was such a poor pick [for VP], I thought Al Davis made it."
*Edit* Now, can you imagine any person wanting to coach the Raiders now?
"We'll give you a nice contract, but we'll probably renege on it. Also, you'll have the owner, who has completely lost his marbles, calling you up on the sidelines during the game to tell you what to do."
