Dallas Cowboys add former OU receiver Travis...
(2008-10-02)

The Dallas Cowboys signed former Oklahoma receiver Travis Wilson to the practice squad today.

Wilson replaces Mike Jefferson, who was suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the NFL’s steriod policy for taking a banned supplement.

Wilson was a third-round draft pick (78th overall) in 2006 by the Cleveland Browns. He played in four games with one start in his two years with the Browns, recording two catches for 32 yards.

He was released by Cleveland on the final roster reduction in 2008 and signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad Sept. 3. He was released by the Broncos on Sept.. 23.

I'm sure he's happy to be on SOMEBODY's team. But I'm pretty sure he won't ever break the 53 man roster in Dallas.

I didn't think that he was eligible for the practice squad.

Color me surprised.

Just going from memory - but about a year or two ago the league trashed it's old practice squad rules and left it wide open. They way they stand now I think just about anyone can be on the PS. Maybe one of our "rule-hounds" can link the current PS criteria.

(i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and

What is the Other team that TW was on this year? I missed that.

Their WR talent pool is pretty minimal actually.

Their top 4 is TO, Crayton, Miles Austin and Isaiah Stanbeck. They need SOME additional talent at WR. Austin and Stanbeck arent very good. Why not give the kid a shot I guess...he had potential.

Plus, Jerry Jones would like nothing more than to make a silk purse out of what we thought was a sows ear, if only to get even with us for taking his #22 first round pick one year for our #22 pick the next.

I'm happy for the guy...

His parents visited the North Texas Browns Backers at the Fox and Hound last year, and was able to get a football autographed by some browns players (Josh Cribbs, being most notable) that was raffled off. The raffle money went to feed 2 or 3 families during the holidays.

He is from the Dallas area, so he might of asked to be on the Cowboys...
