One of my best friends Darin got into a 4-wheeler accident last night and is surgical Intensive Care at Huron. A lot of you that have met me also have met him since he shares season tickets with me and we tailgate right by the Island. Details are sketchy but I do know he is in ICU and has a fractured skull and broken collarbone. I just had back surgery on Wednesday and can't get up there to see him and haven't talked to him directly yet so keep him in your thoughts and prayers for me plz. Thanks.

Yes, I do. That's why I'm sitting here completely a mess. Shonda is online and I just told her....cuz I've told her stories about tailgating with Darin. She's saying prayers for him too.

Here's to a speedy recovery! I know plenty of people who've bounced back from a broken collar bone. The skull injury worries me a bit too, but if his family and friends are anything like you, it'll help him get better sooner!
Scary machines, I try to stay away from them. Do you know if he was wearing a helmet?

Well good news I talked to him on the phone and he is doing good. Looking forward to the Buckeye game tonight He said he has a 4 inch crack from the top of his skull to his ear but no bleeding. They were worried b/c he has an irregular heartbeat but I guess that's not an issue now. He shattered his collarbone and says that hurts like a SOB and he has a cracked vertebrae in the L-4 area that hurts him. That's the same area of the spine I have problems in so he said he will never say anything to me again when I say my back hurts So all in all he is doing as good as can be expected and he is trying to get them to release him. He just has to really watch his head and check for fluid in his ears and of course any pain or swelling. They said things can go south quickly with head injuries but it sounds like he was an extremely lucky guy!

Thanks for everyone's well wishes! It looks like he is out of immediate danger but has weeks of recovery ahead of him. It was real good to talk to him and I am going to try to go over tonight to watch the game with him if I feel up to it.

Glad all is looking up. I will continue to pray for a fast recovery.

I probably know the answer already, but.......was he wearing a helmet? I'm not being judgmental at all.......I don't wear one when riding around here.

No he wasn't, and I know when I have rode with him he does. I have rode it with out one before just for a quick ride and won't be doing that again. He told me "I thought I am just taking a quick ride,,what could happen?" And, well look what happened He told me he learned his lesson and all of the Doctors told him how lucky he is and being one of my closer friends I can tell this made a big impact on him.

Continued thoughts and prayers for NoComputerDarin. I'm glad I've read the updates as the skull fracture had me super worried (that's how my Grandfather died).

yeah same here. He is doing better but in a great deal of pain. Thanks again guys for the well wishes and prayers!!
