The Commish has dropped the hammer! web page NFL suspends Cowboys CB Jones for a minimum of four games NFL.com NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones indefinitely without pay, for a minimum of four games, on Tuesday for violating the league's Personal Conduct Policy. Jones will miss at least the next four games. Goodell will determine the final length of the suspension following the Cowboys' Week 11 game against Washington on Nov. 16. The decision on whether Jones can return to play will be based on his strict compliance with his NFL and Dallas Cowboys treatment plans as well as on evaluations of his progress that will be provided to Goodell by clinical experts retained by the NFL. Jones was involved in an alcohol-related physical altercation at a Dallas hotel on Oct. 8 that resulted in hotel employees calling the police. Goodell in today's letter to Jones called it a continuation of "a disturbing pattern of behavior and clearly inconsistent with the conditions I set for your continued participation in the NFL." Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season for multiple violations of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. In reinstating Jones on Aug. 28, Goodell said that the player's participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a socially responsible manner, avoiding any other conduct that brings disrespect to himself, his team, or the NFL. No more PacMan, no Romo for a month.... how long until they implode??
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

No more Felix Jones for a while. No more punter w/ destroyed foot. I think they've REAL close to implosion in that division. Shame.
I'm glad the commish is cracking down. I don't care if its one of 2 repeat offenders who should have been kicked out of the league a long time ago or anyone acting like an idiot, breaking the law for the first time.

If they changed "indefinitely" to "permanently" I would be a lot happier. This guy is a complete joke to the league and has violated the rules countless times, even when people are hired to prevent him from doing so. I like what Goodell has done with the league, but he needs to quit suspending people who continually repeat and just ban them. Add Chris Henry to the list.

For sure. But Goddell is just like a politcian. He's trying to do a good job with what he has to operate with. If he stomped on every one of these players for infractions, the owners would quickly tire of him.
A "real" owner would have gone to Goodell and said "take this puke out of my league,..." I doubt either Jones or Mike Brown has done that.

Jones was doomed to this fate from the beginning. Pity, really, because he's quite a talented player. Some players learn what causes their problems (see Lewis, Jamal) and others just keep spiraling out of control.
Why couldn't the Browns get a shot at them in this pitiful condition? They were a fine ball team when they played that first game. Oh well, that's the way the quarterback bounces.

The Commish is wise.
I'm a bit surprised by the length, but I like seeing Goodell really clamp down on this kind of stuff. The NFL does not need to have a thug image like the NBA has.

Dear Pacman,
Here is plenty of rope, I'm sure you'll know what to do with it.
Love,
The Commish
