my 2 cents
I don't blame KW2 for his comments regarding the staff infection issue. It's beyond being a joke. I see nothing wrong with it being brought to the surface any and every time it happens.
As for his comments about PS not calling him - Oh Pllllease! Give me a break. He got calls from his team mates, his coach, what? You need a call from everybody in the organization? And to bring up contract stuff?
see ya in a couple of weeks KW2...
This, of course, will probably enrich his wishes to be traded. I've never been a big fan the man/boy KW2...but he's a very good receiving TE and it would be a loss to the offense on passing downs.

I am really happy that Savage handled this the right way, and gave him a one game suspension. I would now love to see the offense explode on Sunday without him. If that does happen, when Winslow returns, it won't be as the tightend, but as the 3rd wide receiver, in a Joe J type role...JMO

Every single one that this TEAM has gone to.... nevermind, I can't believe I wasted my time replying to that crap.
I'll rephrase for the sake of logic,...how many playoff games has Winslow helped his teammates get to since he was drafted,...? He is locker room ..., you know it and his teammates know it.

i don't like this at all...
i don't like that phil savage is not out in front of reporters talking about this... wknr said they received the news from the browns via email.
it makes the whole thing look bad.
Savage shouldn't have to defend his actions by talking to the media in person. That only legitimizes Winslow's power. Savage handled this the right way.
Now, next up............A quote from his agent, saying this punishment was unfair, that he wants an audience with Savage, and that he's filing a grievance with the union.
Just like Winslow's screwup with the bike, and with his agent's request for a new contract, Savage will complete the tri-fecta, and Winslow will again be shot down.
i'm talking more about why kellen was out, the cat is out of the bag, and the questions are coming. front page of the plain dealer, folks.
he should be out talking about this, because it is only going to get worse
kellen and his suspension and phil savage not calling him in the hospital is nothing compared to what kind of a fiasco this can turn into.

Completely disagree, what good is talking about it to the media going to do? No explanation is needed, K2 was out of line, and now he is paying for it.

ok, maybe he was
but now, why are key players getting staph infections at a ridiculous rate? we're approaching double digits.

Because it's a tremendously resistant strain of bacteria. Problem is when you kill all the bacteria that you can in the hospital or team facilities, it leaves the extremely powerful strands like MRSA without any competition and a whole lot to feed on.

"I didn't know he got a 9 on the wonderlic."
I could be wrong and it was 11...but no better than that...either way that 9 or 11 that is borderline retard. Listening to him talk in interviews he seems intelligent so that I always thought he knew he was a star so mocked the Wonderlick test and made funny answers - something I would be prone to do
example: 9. The ninth month of the year is? answer: When a baby is born
But when I see him in his 5th year still not knowing where to line up and needs to be told seemingly for every formation that we go into on what he is suppose to do.
I just wonder.
Game day he's accountable, he never quits and he fights till the end!
Problem is I don't think its all his fault either but he misses so much PRACTICE because of his knee, so he never gets better. Better at technique better at his reads. And who knows what kind of film he watches to prepare and does he know what he's looking for?
But honestly...nobody builds a team around a TE. Savage did not pick him as a plan for this team and his kind of guy. What that means is he could be out of here fast.
Me I sort of like KW2 cause he fought so hard to come back from his injury. But honestly, ever since Drew Rosenhaus became his agent. I knew he wasn't going to be here long. I knew the Devil Agent would be at his ear feeding him garbage to turn him against the Browns. Staph Infection...and it wasn't on surgery it was from a scrape? or scratch and these guys were given an in depth seminar on avoiding staph infection. Wait a minute...Seminar...oh shoot there goes that 9 Wonderlick again No wonder
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

You are exactly right, Winslow is one of the few remaining Butch guys the Browns have. I doubt he will be with us next year, and quite frankly, I have no problem with that if we get proper compensation.

I sure loved this guy last year. Time to put the jersey up on Ebay.
Dear god, I hope my Joe Thomas jersey is appropriate for the next decade.

what do you think proper compensation'll be? we'd most likely have to settle for a 2nd if not a 3rd. i doubt we can get a 1st unless it ends up being a conditional thing like if he plays 75 % of snaps, makes probowl and team makes playoffs.

in my opinion the red flag went up draft day when we took rucker..
think about the holes we have on this team, glaring ones...
and we have winslow, heiden, and dinkins, and he drafts a TE?
think about that.

Do we know exactly what the detrimental conduct was? I hope it wasn't the interview,I didn't hear anything inflamitory in that. Hell, while he's at it,PS should suspend DA for launching lasers to god-knows-where,and BE for not having his head in the game. That is surely conduct detrimental to the team.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Maybe so, but I really can't name more than 1-2 players on this team i would rather have.
So he's a TE...we heard talk about how no team has ever been dominated by their TE.....yet we had such a team with Ozzie.....how did a fan forget that??
I agree with Kellen....if you are in the hospital for a few days, it takes a real cheese eater to not at least give you a call.
Really....how friggen hard is that???
If someone I know is in the hospital, I am going to at least call them...really....no BS

Peen, I'm with you bro. What the hell is going on in Berea?
1st we have the crazy amount of staph infections 2nd we have little knowledge of JJ's progression or lack of progression 3rd we have a 1st round QB who cant even sniff the field even after the guy in front of him can't complete 1/2 of his passes 4th we have a 1st round WR who can't read a blitz and cutoff his route or make routine catches 5th we have a coach who can't motivate and is too afraid to make the tough decision 6th we have a stud TE who gives his all between the lines and gets little appreciation from the upper mangement 7th we have a owner who takes "staying out of the football side" to a whole new level (does he still realize he owns the Browns?)
8th ......all the hell with it, this team still blows.
The funny thing is, I know that continuity and staying the course is really the way to build a frachise. The problem is I just don't see the progression over the last 4-5 years that we should expect. I think we have picked up some quality players, but we just can't put it together on a consistent basis.
This news of K2 getting suspended is really depressing. It just confirms how far this team still has to go.....

1st- They should have practiced safe sex 2nd.- Jeff Jarret is good he won the daytona 500 last year. 3rd- I agree ken dorsey would be a much better option 4th- Its not his fault anderson throws too hard and should read the blitzes. 5th- hes a smart coach. Dinkins and Josh Cribbs got TD's the last 2 games. Fans want to see them because there on the TV show Josh's cribbs. It raises the amount of fans that come to the game. 6th- I agree here as well. Darnell Dinkins is under appriciated and Heiden for that matter. Its really unfair man. 7th- Phil Savage is a great GM 8th - Go Browns!

I would be shocked if we got what the giants received for shockey(2nd and 5th). Winslow already had numerous operations on his knee (4 if i'm correct). he is a shell of his old self. I hardly see him running deep patterns anymore. not to mention he struggles blocking, and is having trouble with physical backers and safeties at the line of scrimmage.
It's a shame what talent this guy has wasted. he's still decent, but I would only give up a high 3rd for him. maybe a low 2.

For anyone that has an issue with the current state of affairs I encourage you to call or write the Browns directly.
The number for the Front Office is (440) 824-6284. And the appropriate addresses:
Cleveland Browns Stadium 100 Alfred Lerner Way - Cleveland - Ohio - 44114
Cleveland Browns Training Facility and Administrative Complex 76 Lou Groza Blvd. - Berea - Ohio - 44017
_____________________________________________________________
Personally I'm going to write Randy Lerner a letter. As a season ticket holder paying good money to this organization....an organization supported by the tax payers of the City of Cleveland...we deserve better.
I encourage others to do the same.

I respectfully disagree with you, 'Peen. I thought right away that this wasn't about Savage not calling him while he's in the hospital. I really did figure that this was about the contract, and perhaps some that he's just frustrated that the team sucks so bad.
If this is about not getting a call, I just have a tough time feeling bad for the guy. Like I said before, whining about not getting called is something my mom's aunts would do.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I would love to know what the other players are thinking about this decision.
It has been mentioned that players were rolling their eyes when Kellen went on his post-game rant, and Lewis finally pulled him aside. John Clayton also reported numerous teammates even tried to talk Winslow out of going public with the info. All the evidence leads me to believe the other player's would be okay with this suspension, but I would love to know for sure.
As for the compensation if (when) Winslow is traded, I would be thrilled with a 3 and a 5, as I believe that would give us a full set of picks, replacing the 3 we traded for Rucker and the 5 we traded for Hubbard.

You should be saying Good mourning, because you need to wake up. No GM worth his salt lays trade groundwork by having that player labelled as disgruntled, that lowers his value. By your posts,I gather you don't like Winslow which is your choice. But the real point here is;something stinks.Whether it's Winslow completely talking out his ass,or the FO pulling some underhanded BS,I don't know. And judging by your response above neither do you.

I really don't remember..... But it was all over the news.. even the tape from the security camera was on the news after that,, it would have been hard to hide anything at that point.

Who ever said Savage knows what he's doing,...?? No, I don't dislike Winslow, I dislike people with his kind of "me first" attitude.. It gets people killed in combat, and it gets football fans a 2-4 record. So you just go ahead and keep believing I don't know anything, I will continue to understand and respect that.

Thoughts running through my mind as I read through this thread:
1. Punishment was the right move and fair. Handled well, I thought. I agree with the poster that said making it a spectacle just gives Winslow more power. Handle it swiftly, say your peace as an organization, and move on.
2. I love K2 the player. I really do. I was pulling for him hard to come back from his injuries and couldn't wait for the day he got on the field. He has given us a good season and a great season, and I've enjoyed watching him play moreso than other player we have. But if it is better for the Browns to move on without Winslow, then that's what we have to do. The team comes first. Always. I haven't made up my mind if it is best for the Browns to part ways with him, but I'll understand if we do.
3. I can't imagine this offense would take a step backward if we had good dual purpose TE on the field, one who could block and receive. We lose the dynamics of a Winslow, but we gain in other areas. Is Rucker that guy? Man, I don't know. I believe he has the same type of build as Winslow and it was noted many times over how he would need to "learn" to block. If we replace Winslow, I think it needs to be a traditional TE, not a Winslow wannabe.
4. We need more leaders on this team like J.Lewis. We need other guys to step up and be leaders. Unfortunately, two of our best players, BE and K2, need to be led because they are not leaders. This is not a winning formula for a football team.
5. Final thought: What a mess. I thought these types of days in Browns Town were going to be thing of the past. I'm somewhat embarrassed as a fan right now. Every year it seems like it's something. What a friggin' mess.

I never said you don't know anything,in fact, the only person I've ever felt that way about would be my 1st ex-wife. The question I asked, and you responded to but didnot answer, was "what exactly was he punished for?" That answer is really all I care about right now, well that and some more ice.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Conduct detrimental to the team,...?? Yeah, it might be vague, but it's a UCMJ offense too, so that's good enough for me. He's gonna get himself nicknamed "MRS. A" When a reformed criminal pulls you aside, you're toast.

One more thought:
6. Something is not adding up with the privacy issue. The team says Winslow wanted it quiet. Winslow says the team wanted it quiet. Why would Winslow want it quiet? That doesn't make sense to me.
The number one foundation piece of a team and an organization is trust. Once there is a trust issue, things will really unravel, and it won't just be with Winslow. Other players will have issues with the FO too.
Again, I can't stress enough ... what a mess.
