This story just ticked me off and saddened me immensely. How can anyone be that cruel?

LEE COUNTY: Despicable accusations of child abuse were made in Fort Myers. A two-year-old boy's stepmother is accused of banging his head against walls, biting off his fingernails, and punching him all over his body.

The injuries so severe, doctors can't believe he even survived the trip to the hospital.

Detectives discovered a set of three small bruises on Kaden's body were actually knuckle marks. They now know the bruises secretly covered his entire body.

"She said she was addicted to abusing him," said Detective Rob Smith with the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Rosemary Kunz, 23, is charged with aggravated child abuse. Detectives say she tortured the two-year-old boy relentlessly.

She would push the child, hit him, hit his head, and bite him. She would trip him so he couldn't protect his face when he fell. She said she busted his lip," said Detective Smith.

One family member, who wished to remain anonymous, described the whole situation as "horrifying."

The family members that spoke said Kunz always had excuses for the bumps and bruises.

For example, they say, she would say something like he slammed his fingers in the door.

In actuality, detectives say, she destroyed them with her teeth.

You can see from the fingernail bed they are severely damaged. They are actually falling off," said Detective Smith.

But the daily torture almost turned deadly last week. Detectives say Kaden slipped into unconsciousness while the abuse continued for hours.

When he didn't wake up, the two-year-old was life flighted to Tampa in critical condition with severe trauma to the head.

"His condition was life-threatening," Smith said.

Detective Smith says as Kaden fought to survive, Kunz made a full, complete, and cold-hearted confession.

She said no one, not even the boy's father, knew about the abuse.

"That is the thing, what does an evil stepmother look like?" asked Smith.

Detectives say the boy's father will not be charged.

In the meantime, the young boy is still in the intensive care unit, but beginning to show signs of recovery.

May I please be incarcerated with her and alone for about 3-4 hours so that I can do to her what she did to that little boy? PLEASE let me?

I hope that evil woman gets what she deserves.

I hope she gets abused daily in jail. Scumbag.

Her family member that dosent want to named should also get it for letting it go on without saying a word....Common you moron, you knew it was happening you saw it happen if your to dumb to see whats happening than your to dumb to deserve a life.


His father didnt know it was happenig, I'm not gonna comment on this part because I dont know anything about the living situation or maybe his dad lives in another state, but common it's your son ok i'll shut up.

Good Lord... That poor little boy... At least the abuse was stopped before that monster succeeded in killing the little guy (even though, from the looks of the picture, it was well on it's way to doing just that).

Prayers for healing and a much happier life as he grows up. God willing, he won't remember too much (if any) of this horror.

Watched the video and was instantly pissed off.Most everyone on here knows pretty much that kids are my weak spot and I could take someone like this B_ _ _ h out and not even blink an eye.
I blame the family members too.Kids do get hurt sometimes but if you see it constantly,where the hell is your brain at?
These little ones depend on us to protect them and here this POS is poking his eyes trying to get him to wake up from what she did to him.
I hope our justice system gives her the max.I know what my max would be if it were my grand baby,she'd be 6 feet under and I'd go to prison with a smile on my face.

I think a fair punishment would be to cut her up all over with razor blades then dip her in salt water. then take her out and spray her eyes with pepper spray and unleash her to the inmates and just turn away and let what happens happen. Just stop them short of killing her and when she gets just healthy enough to walk repeat. Then the day before her release date allow the inmates to just mangle her to death.. See how she likes it.

Thankfully, he's only 2 and likely won't be able to remember any of this.... but she needs to hang.

Oh, he'll suffer from physical and emotional scars. Abused children, even infants, carry these things with them and without proper handling of him for years to come he'll suffer from them.

I have a feeling this woman was abused as well as a child.

I have a 2 1/2 year old grand daughter and you would be surprised what goes on in those little brains of theirs.They are smarter than most adults give them credit for.
Hopefully this little fella makes it and the brain damage that they said he had on the video is not severe and our courts don't turn him back over to these people.
If it is his stepmom that was doing this,where the hell is his dad?Surely he had to know it was going on.He should be arrested too.

First and foremost, this is a sad situation, and the step-mom deserves everything coming to her.

That being said, how could the father be so clueless???? He didnt' notice the bruises all over his body, the fingernails falling off? And if he did, he was that naive?

It's sad to see a helpless child fall victim to a parent. Someone who the child is supposed to look up to and find support in. How awful.

I think she should be locked up and the key thrown away, however if she was abused I think whoever abused her should also have the same fate.

I'm not ready to tar and feather the father. I don't know his situation. He may be working two jobs to support the familly for all we know. Yes you would think that all of the injuries he should have suspected it but it sounds like she was making excuses like "He slammed his fingers in the door".

My daughter is 18 months and she likes to play with doors and drawers all of the time. I can see how that could be a valid excuse.

As for the bumps and bruises, he may of passeed it off as a young kid playing and falling down.

I wish the best for this little boy and I hope he has a full recovery and the step mom needs to be locked up for a long time. She also needs to be looked at by a shrink because some one that does that to a little child is crazy.

Not always true......thats like saying one of the signs of a terrorist is somebody who wears a towel on thier head, or a sign of somebody on drugs is having red eyes. I know what your saying I've heard that before and I'm not barking at you, just saying that statement isnt totally true, there many other diffrent signs.

It is absolutely one of the signs. I can understand why you wouldn't want to believe that it is a sign of someone with issues.

Yeah, I can't blame the father without knowing the situation, but I'd wonder how naive he was for not suspecting anything. My 2 year old was very behind in walking, and still will fall quite often, but her bumps and bruises would be a lot different than what you'd see with that child. You also have to feel for the father if he truly was clueless. To have your child being beaten by your wife and not knowing about it and not protecting him would have to have some affect on him.

I wasn't saying every person who tortures animals will be a serial killer, but it is a sign that FBI and Detectives look at.

That's why I said she needs to be looked at by a professional psychiatrist. She might have other issues and they will need to be know if they are ever going to help her. She is abviously sick.

But some times a good butt wooping (or two, three or four) is all that's in order.

I have a VERY hard time believing he didn't suspect something, or even have a hand in it himself. I'm sure the truth will come out eventually.

That's what I'm saying. Maybe he wasn't home much, but damn, how could you not suspect something like that? Or is he just that gullable?

Man, this disgusts me. I have a 11 month old little girl and the thought of her being in any pain at all breaks my heart, puts chills down my spine, and makes me want to vommit.

This person deserves a severe beating by someone. I know two wrongs don't make a right, but screw it, that rotten scum of the earth deserves a beatdown if there ever was one.

I know I've heard it and do agree, somewhat.

Just dont like the connections people sometimes put on other people becuase of one thing or another, there lots of things that goes into a serial crimminal, not just blowing up frogs, or shooting cats, or cutting off squirrles tails, when they were young, some of us came out all right.

Then others like you and I can out......... ummm never mind

I've often thought if it was ever possible to clone velociraptors on a island in the middle of the ocean then drop these kind of people off on shore with only their birthday suit and tell them "goodbye, don't let the bedbugs bite.." and motor away.

Isn't there a syndrome where mothers want to injure/sicken their children just to get attention.

This mother is pretty messed up.

I've had several kids in the past couple of months who have had non-accidental trauma... last kid is very sad... can't really go into details... but I sure hope God is a just God when the ones who hurt the kid meet him.

Don't take this the the wrong way Fla b/c it is in no way a shot against you, but I wish people wouldn't post things like this b/c they really do upset me. I know I can skip it and not read it, but at the same time I can't. Being a father of a 4 and 2 year old it really bothers me and makes me truly sick to my stomach b/c it pisses me off

MY ASS! I mean these injuries are truly horrifying and no kid has all his fingernails fall off or have severe head trauma everyday. I wonder if she beats him too? You don't marry someone, live with someone and have a kid and not know what the hell is going on. And, if he is truly in the dark about this whole situation than he needs help too b/c he is clueless in general.

Ain't that the truth. My 4 year old amazed me at the things she was capable of at that age, and I am continued to be shocked at what the baby can do now (She will be 2 on 12/29).
Kids are smart little things and pick up things very fast. They also learn how to push daddy's buttons and how if they run to daddy he lets them do things that mommy doesn't
