Why would any really good FA want to come here? 1) A terrible HC, with little or no chance to succeed. 2) One of the most unorganized teams in the NFL. 3) A tough division, with little or no positive outlook for this team in the near future. 4) Not one really good OC will even interview for the job, because of Rac's imcompetence. 5) a QB coach with NO previous experience at that position in the NFL, who may end up as the OC, it's a joke.
Wow,,,your thinking that all Free Agents are interested in winning... Big mistake on your part,,,,, most are interested in the money...
So one word describes why a top FA would come here....... MONEY

That article not only supports the arguement that taking Thomas is the ONLY right thing to do, but it also hints that the signing of Shaffer wasn't just a move to solve the left tackle problem for now, but was designed to shift him over to another position the entire time.
Hmmmmm...I don't see it as being the ONLY thing to do or see where it hints that we took Shaffer with the intent to move him over.

Canada...all those other guys went through the combine. The true n only true measurements.
Was wondering - where did you get those for Joe Thomas?
He's 6'8" and his arms seem pretty long. All reports say Long Arms.
JMH?

Well of course not. You're agenda doesn't fit mine
However, I push mine again because Savage threw in those little words that all-but said Shaffer isn't long for the left tackle position: "For right now." They were used in reference to his longevity at the position when asked about him. That clearly states Savage has it in the back of his mind that a left tackle who can .........you know...........actually play left tackle...............is in our future *L* If Thomas is there when we pick, he's the favorite.
Now of course it wouldn't be me if I didn't phrase it in an insolent way would it?

The funny thing is this year I don't really have one as far as the draft....at least yet. We could go one of 3-4 ways and it wouldn't really bother me...all would be good and all would leave some questions to yet be answered.
At any rate, I think history shows that any agenda we may have is usually pretty close to being one and the same.

Nick...hmmm Greek or Russian?
thanks for pulling that article - I remember it well but what I didn't remember was all the quotes in it about LT by SAVAGE
Cause what we will hear from Savage in 07 will be Draft Speak - nothing that can be taken as solid info. But this was all from 2002 off season with Ogden firmly entrenched on his team and LT not even a thought so he could talk honestly and candidly what he thought about the position.
hehehe...I really got a kick about what he said regarding 6th or 7th rounders playing LT (of which Shaffer is)
I can breathe much easier - cause if Joe Thomas is there for us to pick...He will be a Brown
Those who didn't read it cause it looked long - please do so (this mean you Peen ) its important n interesting. JMHO

I read it the first time I don't doubt we take him....what I do doubt is he is there when we do select someone. We can jumble the first 3 picks any way you want...Thomas is the only guy I see as being a lock in one of those picks....IMO the Lions at 2 will take him....if they pass( they won't)....we might have a shot at the guy......but right now that is 50/50 since we very well might draft 4th.

I totally understand that he may not be there in fact Im just as worried as most others that he wont be there but if he is and he is graded out as a top 5 talent I truely believe that will be our pick even if Phil has other players rated higher on his board. Its the only player I think he would do that with. Im Italian (for the record)
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

Why bother changing the recipe when it's already successful. Moving him to LT just doesn't sound right, that and our true offensive line needs lie on the interior moreso than the tackle spots...
